📖 Começamos com a Poesia do nosso poeta Patativa do Assaré;
Eu sou brasileiro, filho do Nordeste,

Researching for free (while waiting for a scholarship to maybe be granted) is depressing sometimes. While your colleagues are enjoying life and travelling for their research, you have to make due with digitalizations and such.
Nevertheless, sometimes researching takes you to unexpected places. Recently, I went to Valongo, a town in Porto, because they supposedly had a book that I needed for an article I'm writing. Thankfully the trip wasn't very long from where I live and I had a ride.
The book was elsewhere unfortunately, in another library near Valongo, but this one was a surprise to me. Not only was it pretty and had a fantastic catalog, but also the librarians were tremendously helpful and nice to me. For a person who is pretty sure of having undiagnosed anxiety, to whom every new experience is a painful yet exciting activity, it is really nice to interact with people that seem to enjoy working with books.
They had those beautiful and gigantic book covers and an ongoing exhibition of censored books during the Estado Novo dictatorship. Although the building itself appears to need some fixing, it was a truly beautiful place to visit, especially because of the fantastic work by the librarians, who make an under-financed and underappreciated place seem like a little slice of heaven.
(I didn't take any pictures from inside the adult section itself to not be disrespectful, but it had a charming, calm and inviting vibe)
