It is easy to help others when we choose to look beyond their situation, overlook their attitude, and simply show them love. However, one of the greatest things we should ask God for is the gift of discernment. We need the discernment of the Holy Spirit to teach us who He is calling us to help and when He is leading us to give. Not every opportunity comes from God, but when He clearly points someone out for us to help, we must be willing to obey.
The Word reminds us that if we think we are too important to help someone else, we are only deceiving ourselves. God sees everything. He knows our hearts, our motives, and our character. Nothing about us is hidden from Him.
The more we give to others with a sincere heart, the more we show our gratitude to God for the life and the blessings He has given us. Our actions should reflect His love. We must show God who we are becoming in Christ instead of continuing to reveal the parts of us that resist His will.
God is looking for people who will genuinely walk in His light and live according to His truth. He desires people who are willing to love, serve, and help others—not for recognition or praise, but because they want to honor Him. Whether anyone else notices or not, we should always be ready to give according to God’s will and His way, allowing His love to flow through us in everything we do.
Galatians 6:3 If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.
This verse is a reminder to remain humble before God. Pride has a way of convincing us that we are better than others or that we no longer need God’s help. The truth is that every blessing, every gift, and every opportunity we have comes from the Lord. Without Him, we can do nothing. Humility keeps our hearts open to God’s guidance and reminds us that our strength comes from Him alone.
It is easy to compare ourselves with others and begin to think too highly of ourselves. Sometimes we believe our position, our knowledge, or our accomplishments make us more important than someone else. However, God does not judge us by our status or achievements. He looks at our hearts. A humble heart is willing to serve, encourage, forgive, and love others without expecting recognition or praise.
Instead of focusing on the faults of others, we should ask God to reveal the areas in our own lives that need to change. When we walk in humility, we become teachable. We are more willing to accept correction, grow in our faith, and allow the Holy Spirit to transform us into the people God has called us to be.
As believers, we should strive to reflect the character of Christ every day. Jesus, though He is Lord of all, humbled Himself and served others with compassion and love. If we follow His example, we will not seek to lift ourselves up, but we will seek to glorify God in all that we do. True greatness is not found in thinking highly of ourselves—it is found in humbly walking with God and faithfully serving others.
Proverbs 26:12 Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
When a person believes they already know everything, they stop listening to wise counsel, reject correction, and close their heart to learning. True wisdom begins with fearing the Lord and recognizing that we always have room to grow in knowledge and understanding.
God desires His people to have humble and teachable hearts. No matter how long we have walked with Him, there is always something new He wants to teach us. When we become wise in our own eyes, we can easily miss God’s direction because we rely on our own understanding instead of seeking His guidance. Humility allows us to receive instruction, accept correction, and grow stronger in our faith each day.
As believers, we should regularly ask God to guard us against pride and give us a spirit of humility. Instead of trusting in our own opinions or abilities, we should seek His wisdom through prayer, His Word, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. When we remain humble before the Lord, He gives us the wisdom we need to make godly decisions, walk in obedience, and bring glory to His name.
1 Corinthians 8:2 If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know.
There is always more for God to teach us. Knowledge without humility can lead to pride, but godly wisdom produces a heart that is willing to learn. We should never become so confident in our understanding that we stop seeking God’s direction and truth.
As followers of Christ, we must remain teachable. The more we study God’s Word, the more we realize the depth of His wisdom and the greatness of His ways. Instead of relying on our own understanding, we should ask the Holy Spirit to give us insight, discernment, and a heart that is eager to receive correction. God honors those who humbly seek Him and acknowledge that they need His guidance every day.
We should never use our knowledge to make ourselves appear superior or to discourage someone who is still growing in their faith. Instead, we should use what God has taught us to build others up, encourage them, and point them closer to Christ. True spiritual maturity is not measured by how much we know, but by how faithfully we live out God’s truth with humility, love, and grace.
*** Today we talked about being teachable , it is one of the greatest qualities a believer can have. A teachable heart recognizes that no matter how much we know, there is always more for God to reveal to us. When we remain humble, we become willing to receive instruction, correction, and wisdom from the Lord. Instead of resisting change, we allow the Holy Spirit to shape our hearts and transform us into the people God has called us to be.
A teachable person does not become offended when corrected but sees correction as an opportunity for growth. God often speaks through His Word, the Holy Spirit, and mature believers to help us grow in our faith. If we reject correction because of pride, we can miss valuable lessons that God is trying to teach us. However, when we receive instruction with humility, we become stronger, wiser, and better equipped to fulfill His purpose for our lives.
Every day, we should ask God to give us a teachable spirit. We should approach His Word with a desire to learn, obey, and apply what He teaches us. A teachable heart is a heart that continues to grow, mature, and bear spiritual fruit. As we remain open to God’s guidance, He will lead us in truth, strengthen our faith, and help us become a reflection of Christ in everything we do. ©Seer~ Prophetess Lee
