When is it time to remove the native soil that came with your yamadori root ball? Well this azalea's core roots are still growing in it's native soil after ten years! It took me 4 hours today to remove the first half of the soil. Now all thats left is a solid mass of hard muck to remove. This isn't the best tree, but it's my favorite, because of it's back story. It's sitting in water now. I'll finish the rest in the morning and it'll finally have a full pot of fresh soil. Next winter it'll go into a bonsai pot. #BHSep0 (at California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CH_uEAKjFX6/?igshid=kbdczzwpazod
