I'm late to say this for BHM, but positivity for all black people and mixed black people should be year round, not just during the shortest month of the year,, also I suck with words so I'm sorry if this is bad I'm trying my best 💓💓
Also this is primarily for black girls & afab black people, I've included black guys & amabs too!!, but seeing as black women & afabs are much more highly stigmatized and how prevalant racist misogyny is, there's more points in this that are geared towards black women & afabs!!
Normalize "nappy" hair!!! (I put it in quotations because I've heard it's derogatory and racist and I don't mean to offend!!)
Normalize black girls having poofy or curly hair!!!
Normalize cornrows, box braids, dreads, etc.!!!
Stop forcing young black girls & women to conform to your colorist beauty standards!!!
Black!! Girls!! Are!! Beautiful!! And!! Stunning!! Goddesses!!
You fucking bet your ass this includes medium and dark skinned black girls!!! Fuck whitewashing, fuck colorist beauty expectations, fuck light skin exclusive adoration!!
Normalize black people having big lips and broad noses and accents!!!
Normalize "more black" mixed kids!! Darker mixed kids!! Mixed kids with dark, curly hair and brown eyes!! Mixed kids that look more like their black parent!! Mixed kids that feel more connected to their black heritage!!
Love and support black people of all different walks of life, not just high or middle class, suburban, white-conforming black people!! Love and support stereotypical, "loud", "ghetto", "aggressive", lower class or impoverished black people!! Love and support lgbt+ black people!! Support disabled black people!! Support mentally ill black people!! Support neurodiverse black people!! Support homeless black people!! Support unemployed black people!! Support incarcerated black people!!
Never forget the fallen black people who lost their lives too soon in violent crime, prison, or police brutality.
Kinky hair is so beautiful and lovely, don't ever feel ashamed of your natural hair!!! Wear it with pride, as a wlw I love seeing girls happily wear their hair and clothes the way THEY want to!
Your hair is not dirty or offending or gross!!
Your facial features are stunning!!
Your skin is beautiful just the way it is!!
