Consider this: it’s the 90s. Space shooters are everywhere. You have Gradius, R-Type, Zero Wing, all that jazz. How do you stand out? Answer: weird box art. Now everyone knows who you are. You’re the old man with banjo space shooter. It’s publicity. It catches people’s attention. That’s how you do it.

Terrifying

The USK stamp is so huge and annoying on every game box it appears on, so I'm super impressed by how gracefully this title handles it. They gave Germany unique art to accommodate its rating as a design element!

You kind of overlook the protagonist on this cover because one of the titular colossus is on it and fills most of the frame and that is the best cover possible for the game, the protagonist is more visible in the Japanese original cover so I prefer the oversea ones.

It's a basic classic. The emo goth backdrop, the giant heart-shaped moon, the disney and anime mix edgelordness, what's not to love? (Honestly all Kingdom Hearts box covers slap but i think the OG is most iconic)

Love "Badass" angry Mickey Mouse here, that's so Kingdom Hearts for me, emo King Michael, dressed in all black.

the rift magic the inquisitor is sending up and the negative space beneath the demons making the shape of a dragon continues to delight me
