Happy holidays and merry pitchmas! This year Iâm gifting to @beyond-bechloeâ, so here ya are, pls enjoy!
Beca let out a tired groan when her phone lit up her otherwise dark dorm room. Dreading who the message could be from, she chose to ignore it for now, deciding instead to continue letting her emotions go through the music blaring from her headphones. When it went off for the second time almost immediately after, she reconsidered, knowing there was only one person who would double text her.Â
Flight got cancelled, so Iâm here for xmas. If you need to escape your dadâs you know where to find me!Â
Or if you just want to spend some time with your girlfriend without an excuse, you know Iâd love that too <3Â
That was all the motivation Beca needed to drag herself up and out of her cold, dark dorm room. She trudged through the snow across campus and managed to get an Uber to the off campus apartment Chloe shared with Aubrey. She didnât bother fixing her appearance, knowing that Aubrey had already left for her own Christmas plans the day before, and that Chloe would pick up on her sour mood whether or not she tried to cover up her irritated eyes.Â
âChlo? Iâm here,â she called while entering the apartment with a knock. Hearing her answer, Beca made her way into the living area where her girlfriend was curled up on the couch in a mountain of blankets with an adorable beanie on top of her head that made it look like she had cat ears.Â
âBec! I knew youâd- woah, what happened?â she asked, climbing out of her blanket mound to comfort Beca, having noticed her red eyes mid sentence. Beca huffed, moving the both of them back to the couch and getting comfortable with Chloeâs arms wrapped securely around her.Â
âI was with my dad yesterday,â she starts with a light sniffle, âand I guess it never came up before, I donât know⌠but Sheila asked if I âhad anyone special,â or whatever, and I was like yeah.â She paused, taking a deep breath and blowing it out slowly. âAnd, well, I told them it was you and then he just, like, exploded. Talking about how its an abomination and Iâm gonna burn in hell for eternity.âÂ
âOh, sweetie, Iâm-â
âIt fucking pissed me off! Like, where does he get off? I get that religion became super important to him when he got sober, like with the twelve steps and whatever, but you can cheat on your wife and abandon your kid and thatâs all fine but I love a girl and suddenly Iâm the problem?! Like what the fuck is that?!â Beca ranted, letting her anger at the situation out. âHeâs a total hypocrite and it just made me so mad! Like what fucking year is it, dude, grow up. Ugh!â She yelled, pacing in front of the couch, having stood up halfway through.Â
âYou know what? Screw him. My mom was super excited when I told her I was seeing someone, and she wants to meet you and everything. I knew I shouldnât have even bothered trying with him, I donât need him. I have my mom, and you, and the girls, and thatâs all I need.â She said with finality, letting herself fall back onto the couch with a huff.Â
âFeel better?â Chloe asked after a moment, brushing some of the hair out of Becaâs face.Â
âYeah. Thanks.âÂ
âYouâre welcome,â she said with a grin. âSo, whatâs this about your mom wanting to meet me?â Becaâs face went red, ducking her head a little.Â
âWell, I mean, thatâs what she said. You totally donât have to if you donât want to, and not like soon or anything but-â
âBeca, I would love to meet your mom. Whenever the opportunity arises, okay?âÂ
âReally?âÂ
âYes, really! Now, I donât know about you, but I think this Christmas is gonna just be the two of us and the mountain of blankets watching as many movies as you can tolerate.âÂ
âOnly if itâs Jim Carreyâs the Grinch; that movie is gold and you canât deny itâ Beca said with a grin, opening her arms for her girlfriend to settle into. Chloe happily snuggled into her side, handing her the remote to pick the film. Looking down at Chloe once more, Beca nodded to herself. Yeah, this was all she needed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
âBabe, you look fine, I promise, just sit down,â Beca said for what she swears is the tenth time.Â
âI just want to make a good impression, Bec, itâs your mom,â Chloe fretted over her hair and outfit, yet again, before finally sitting down next to Beca on the couch. It was Christmas day, and Beca and her mom had already had plans to video call on the day to catch up, so Beca decided now was as good a time as any to introduce the two of them. Before Chloe has a chance to second guess herself again, Beca hits the call button and the ringing sound makes Chloe sit up ramrod straight. It takes a few moments before Becaâs mom, Jen, pops up on screen, a wide smile on her face.Â
âBeca! My baby, Merry Christmas! And you must be Chloe, Becaâs told me so much about you, itâs nice to put a face to the name. âÂ
âMerry Christmas, mom. Chlo, this is my mom, Jen; ma, this is Chloe, my girlfriend,â Beca says, giving her a soft smile and taking one of Chloeâs hands in hers.Â
âHi, Merry Christmas! Itâs wonderful to meet you too,â she says, giving her brightest smile. They talk for some time, catching up on each othersâ goings on, Becaâs mom getting to know Chloe and whatnot. When Beca gets up to use the restroom, her mother waits a moment before speaking softly.
âI want to thank you.â
âFor what?âÂ
âWhen Becaâs father insisted she go to college, I wasnât really on board with the idea as much as I had led Bec to believe. I know she had a real rough go of things at the start, then when she told me about what her asshole of a father did I wasnât surprised, but I was so worried. Worried that sheâd be alone or let it get to her, but I can see now that sheâs not alone. She made some real friends, from what I know, and found an amazing partner to boot, and itâs thanks to you making her join your club.âÂ
âI⌠well I wouldnât say-â
âItâs because of you. So thank you, for taking care of my girl and making her happy,â her mother finishes with a smile. Chloe returns it, blushing profusely, her smile growing just that much when she spots Beca making her way back to the living room.
âBelieve me, if anyone here got lucky, it was me.âÂ
