Cam and RJ were going strong, better than strong . There was still a part of him that worried somehow he’ll mess this up. There’s still so much hidden of his past that Rj doesn’t know that could ruin everything. One day he’ll tell him... one day he’ll have to. It was quickly becoming obvious that this man was the love of his life. He wasn’t going to be able to keep much of him hidden for much longer.
Today was a pretty average day, Cam heading to JKP to see his favorite person. But to his surprise, or maybe not that surprising... RJ wasn’t there, Tsuki wasn’t there, no one was there from his usual crew. Sometimes they just disappeared. And came back looking tired or haggard. He wanted to trust RJ unconditionally. But it was strange.Â
He left the pizza parlour seeming contemplative about the whole thing. When he heard a wicked sounding laugh that sent chills down his spine. He lowered himself closely to the ground, moving to duck behind a parked car.
“Stupid rangers, you won’t stop us this time.” The woman who looked like a chameleon said.
But to his shock, she wasn’t talking to rangers. She was talking to RJ and his friends, Tsuki standing nearby but not in the line of fire.He was about to act, say something, do something, These weren’t rangers! Why were they getting dragged into this.Â
He didn’t even hear what RJ said. Some kind of retort. Before they were transforming, RJ’s suit purple with the helmet of a wolf. That was so fitting. The next thing he knew, his knees were giving out. They thunked against the gravel, his heart bottoming out into his stomach. RJ was a power ranger. He wasn’t even mad that RJ didn’t tell him.
The thought was nearly deafening, but rang ultimately true. He had done bad things, horrible things in his past. And a power ranger dating a would be criminal wouldn’t due. Suddenly he couldn’t see straight, hot wet tears clouding his vision. A violent sob ripped through the man as he clapped a hand over his mouth. Making a quick escape, heading down an ally. It was over.Â
He and RJ were over, it was the way it had to be. He wasn’t sure how he made it to his apartment, collapsed to the floor and sobbed, his heart was broken. What could he do, there was no other option.
What happened next left the once happy chef cold. He ghosted. He avoided calls, he avoided going out except for work, he ignored RJ’s calls, no matter how desperate he was to hear his voice. He was left mostly at home laying in bed. He didn’t want RJ to know that his secret was out. This was....painful... but ultimately the right call.
