Cub - "Leapfrog" - Betti-Cola (1993)
Betti-Cola - Cub (1993)
Betti-Cola is the 1993 debut album from Canadian twee pop group Cub. Originally released in fall of 1993, the album was remastered and re-released with bonus tracks in 2007 by Mint Records.
The album features tracks taken from various 7" EP's as well as a handful of covers. A 12-song double EP 7" called Betti Cola, with similar cover art, was released at roughly the same time as the CD.
Cover art is courtesy of legendary Archie Comics cartoonist Dan DeCarlo.

95: CUB - My Flaming Red Bobsled
My Flaming Red Bobsled (Come out and Play 1995) Ticket to Spain (1995) Wipe Out (Betti Cola 1993) Sometime (Betti Cola 1993) Passionpop says; In the zeitgeist of grunge CUB were Seattle sound antichrists; lowfi & indie, but crush pop. With the added curio of a young Neko Case on Betti Cola drums, CUB infectious girl garage, and more than soda. Think Rosebud. CUB says; I drown in your pool. I'm hot and you're cool. Nothing ever works out when you think it will. You walk and I run. I spoil all your fun. Like the setting sun, I'll burn you up. My flaming red bobsled. I fall down your well. You kiss and I tell. You got me under your spell but I got my eye on you. You stop and I go. You're twenty below. Now what I wanna know is: what do you see in me? My flaming red bobsled. Lastfm says; Cub was an indie pop band which formed in 1992 in Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada. The band originally consisted of Lisa Marr (vocals, bass), Robynn Iwata (guitar) and Valeria Fellini (drums). Fellini was replaced by Lisa G. (drums, vocals) in 1994. The band released four albums, “Betti-Cola” (1993), “Come Out, Come Out” (1994), “Box of Hair” (1996) and “Box of Hair” (1997). Notably, “Betti-Cola“‘s album cover was designed by Dan DeCarlo, longtime artist for Archie Comics. After the band split in 1997, Iwata formed I Am Spoonbender, and Marr and Lisa G. formed Buck. Case formed Maow after she left the band, and later joined The New Pornographers and began a successful solo career. The lyrics to Cub’s songs are available on Lisa Marr’s site.
