Thoughts on SteveNat? I don't get the popularity of it and then when I learned that Scarjo viewed the relationship in a brother/Sister way made me confused in why people still thinks mcu SteveNat were in love. Tik Toker even said Steve got Nat pregnant in Iw even though she can't have kids!
my thing with stevenat is that even if i switched to operating under the mindset that steve likes women, it wouldn’t make any sense (to me). this cishet white couple played by actors who have been opposite to each other in romantic roles before has no reason not to have become canon for any other reason than it just ... wasn’t like that with them. think about it! they had every opportunity. again, they’re a cishet white ship, so racism and homophobia are out of the equation, as is the possibility of the actors disliking each other thanks to how close c*vans and sc*rjo are. they also spend HOURS of screentime and general canon time together, so the excuse diehard mcu buckynats use (because they just can’t let it go) of them “not being allowed time to interact) goes out the window. they’re close enough to consider each other family and very intimate friends, so the idea that they weren’t open enough with each other also doesn’t work. nat even kissed steve, which was the perfect opportunity to get them together with how steve didn’t want to pursue things with other women and was on the outs with traitor neighbor nurse sharon. steve had no strings on him and neither did nat, so even the clintasha excuse of having a secret spouse doesn’t work out. the window of time between tws and aou would have been when they got together but clearly they didn’t seeing as they chose to never kiss each other again on their own time and steve was supportive of bruce and nat (good for him because i’m not). ik the pregnancy theory stems from the idea of them getting together between civil war and infinity war but with the way the black widow timeline adds up with steve busting sam and them out of prison, i’d say they had other things to worry about before going on the run with him. aka steve spent probably three weeks with his sleeping boyfriend in wakanda considering his face was completely healed of cuts when he finally found sam. to be fair, busting into an international prison is hard, as is finding your sort of at the time awkwardly estranged friend flying around in a commandeered quinjet. the pregnancy theory just gets me MAD because natasha was very clearly traumatized by her INVOLUNTARY sterilization so why would that be a cute trope .. anyways ship steve and nat if you want but it is simple not for me! i’ve always seen nat as his big sister even before black widow because she’s a year older than he is mentally (27 and 28 respectively when they meet) plus they just have that type of rapport.
