I didn’t get why Peridot was wearing the bowtie initially. I just thought she looked cute and dapper. The tie as well as her question to Amethyst about getting taller just made me think of her as a grandparent going “Look how big you’ve gotten!” 

However, I realized Peridot wearing the bow tie allows the audience to compare her with the plush she won at Fun Land. She’s a large headed alien who has a lot of thoughts, of course. But also, she has become more compassionate and understanding, in this case with Lapis. 

“Ok. Yeah. Business time.”

But she also knows when to take it off and get serious, like when traveling to the beta kindergarten to help Amethyst.  

“You know what to do with this!”

Peridot leaves her figurative understanding and compassion with Lapis until she returns. 

But it goes right over her head. At this point, it seems Lapis doesn’t know what to do with Peridot’s kindness just yet. She’s still warming up to her. 

And could the horrific demise of the original plush show how peridot is becoming less materialistic? I think it could be.
