I try to write it canon complacent, though with some personal interruptions/other people's.

I will not be including any sexually graphic material, just the minds of a child in a horrible situation, and an abuser holding a mass power imbalance.

I had fantastic time writing this story. Giving Beta love and a found family truly does not ever get old (so you know I’ll be back to writing for her like…tomorrow.)

This story really has a soft spot in my heart. Avad x Beta was really introduced to me kind of like a crack ship but then I thought…no, I can do something really good with this. If you followed along, thanks, and hope you enjoyed. If you didn’t —

honestly i was thinking of my favourite hzd/hfw characters (like A tier) and I was thinking about Beta because honestly at first I didn’t really like her..

but after replaying the game a healthy 7 times in the last year, she’s grown on me a loooot.

she’s super pessimistic and flighty and afraid at first, which makes sense given her upbringing. But she’s also incredibly brave. She displays selflessness. she takes the GAIA kernel from the zeniths and runs away and locks herself in a pod (can’t remember the name of the chamber fff im fake as hell) w/ the kernel to prevent it from falling into the Zenith’s hands, hoping that Aloy would find her via the distress call she sent. She didn’t know that she’d live, she actively sacrificed herself risking death to try and do a generally right thing.

it takes time. imagine being raised in isolation your entire life, just by simulations to fulfill a purpose; being a key, treated like an item. Tilda was the only person who ever showed some sort of compassion, but that was taken away for her “safety” (most likely when Tilda realised Beta was not actually like Elisabet).

In GEMINI, Beta agrees to the mission only if Aloy agrees to kill her if she falls back into the zeniths hands. she holds up a holo projection of herself to make contact with Aloy, she stays strong so that Aloy can rescue her, she doesn’t give up. Her determination really makes her a loveavle character for me, despite her frightened nature.

And then I realized: she spent all of her childhood studying the Zero Dawn project. In the code.

Even setting aside Travis Tate content exposure (more on that in a moment), code comments can contain profanity. It's frowned on in professional life, but who's going to call you out on your code comments in the "resurrect all life after we're all dead" project?

Stress and deadlines tend to exacerbate this kind of thing too. Even Samina dropped some paint-peeling profanity in there, guaranteed.

Erend arrives to the Base, bringing gifts! Which confuse Aloy and break Beta. But we get a glimmer of direction for the future.

Four months after the events at the Burning Shores, Aloy has been searching fruitlessly for answers, weapons, information - anything, really - about HEPHAESTUS and Nemesis. With her stress and trauma catching up to her, Aloy withdraws into herself. Beta decides to do something about it.
