A Surprising Revelation in episode 3x04Â âNasty Habitsâ
When David asks how Hook was able to leave Neverland before, Hookâs answer is a surprise: âAboard my ship, which would require some form of magic to create a portal, which⌠I got from Pan, in a deal I donât think heâs ready to repeat.â Hook keeps his head down as he speaks, obviously less than proud of the fact that even he couldnât leave the island without Panâs help.
âAt least you got to say goodbye. Most people donât get that much.â
Saying âNoâ to Liam in episode 3x05 âGood Formâ
I feel like this moment, in response to when Liam orders Killian to listen to him as both his brother and his captain, is maybe the very first (and only) time Killian has ever actually said NO to his brother and stood up against him.

Neverland Angst in episode 2x22 âAnd Straight On âTil Morningâ
Killianâs dismay is written all over his face when he realizes Greg and Tamara have taken Henry to Neverland... meaning thatâs where the group will now have to follow them to.
A Bed for Two
This is just some short Hooked Queen fluff. Takes place in S7, somewhere after Lucy was born in the New Enchanted Forest, but not long after. Also includes my own headcanon that TLKs couldnât cure the poisoned heart curse.
If there was one thing Regina Mills was not remotely good at, it was not getting what she wanted. She was sure it was a side-effect of her decades spent as either a Queen or an all-powerful Mayor, but regardless... Even now that she was no longer a villain, her first impulse upon hearing the word ânoâ was still to lob a fireball straight at the speakerâs head. She never did, of course, but the urge was still there.
And so it was most certainly there when Hook - the one sheâd taken to thinking of as her Hook, though she would never speak such words aloud - sat down on her bed and declared:
âWe cannot do this any longer, your Majesty.â
Rage was, of course, the first thing she felt. How dare he put a stop to- Her anger was quickly replaced by confusion, as she realized she wasnât exactly sure what the hell he was talking about. âDo what?â she snapped.
âThis,â he said vaguely, gesturing at the bed he was sitting on.
That didnât really help the confusion in the least. Despite sharing the bed most nights, theyâd only ever slept together - as in actual eyes closed, dreaming and snoring (lightly, on his part - Queens didnât snore, of course) sleep. Of course, neither of them were naive enough to think there wasnât something more between them. After all, friends didnât usually spoon together in the wee small hours of the night unless they were trapped in an avalanche or in some other sort of dire situation where body heat needed to be conserved.
And, most definitely, Hookâs body heat didnât need to be conserved. The man was like a damn space heater - which, while handy in the winter months, was a little less than pleasant in the summer ones.
Still, Regina opted to feign ignorance. âIf you plan to stop sleeping entirely, youâre on your own.â
âYou know what I mean, love.â
âActually, I donât,â Regina said bluntly. âIf youâd rather sleep in your own bed, you could just stop coming into mine. You donât need to sit me down and...â She frowned, not finishing the sentence. You donât need to reject me. â...do whatever this is. Itâs not like thereâs anything going on between us.â
She knew her desperate attempt to reject him and any notion of anything existing between them before he could successfully do the same to her was obvious at best, pathetic at worst. Still, the words were out before she could stop them, and it wasnât in her to take them back.
Hook literally waved her words - and her entire attempt at saving face - away with a flippant flick of his wrist. âOf course there is.â
His quiet confidence in that fact, when sheâd been wondering and questioning exactly that for weeks now, infuriated her. âHow dare you just assume-â
âOne does not share a bed with a Queen lightly, Your Majesty,â he said with a smirk. âThatâs a good way to lose your head, one way or another.â
She felt her heart quicken at his subtle admission that sharing her bed didnât, after all, mean nothing to him - but there was still the fact that he was trying to more or less dump her at the moment. âWell, that doesnât mean it makes any difference to me. Certainly not so much that you have to come in here and be so dramatic about no longer wanting it.â Me, she thought bitterly. Wanting me.
âI do still want it, love.â His words were gentle, and she knew heâd seen right through all of her blustering and anger and seen the hurt sheâd been trying to cover up with it. âI still want you.â
Regina blinked at him for a moment. âOh,â she said finally. âI see.â
She didnât see at all, of course.
And he knew it. âAs I said, Your Majesty, bedding a Queen has its drawbacks - one of which happens to be losing oneâs head, either literally or figuratively... and Iâm afraid Iâve done the latter.â
Her heart was beating through her chest again, dammit. She wished it would stop doing that before the perceptive pirate somehow saw that, as well.
âAnd that is why we can no longer do this.â Hook made that vague gesture at the bed between them once again, then looked expectantly up at her as if this should make all the sense in the world now.
âThat is the stupidest explanation I have ever heard in my life,â she stated. âAnd you know damn well Iâve had a longer one than most and Iâve heard a lot of stupidity throughout it.â
âI donât know what else to say, love.â
âTry explaining to me why we have to stop doing something weâre both clearly enjoying. Tell me why we have to put a stop to something that hasnât even really begun yet. Tell me why it hasnât begun yet, if itâs something we both want.â
He sighed. âI shouldnât.â
âYou shouldnât explain?â Regina asked. âOr you shouldnât do this?â
âI shouldnât do this. Love was something I sought, without fail, for so many years... but only because I thought it would cure my poisoned heart. Now that Alice has informed us that True Loveâs Kiss does not work on this particular affliction...â
Regina scoffed. âItâs not worth it to you.â
âThatâs not it at all, love. Iâm not worth it.â
âThatâs ridiculous,â she replied. âIf thereâs one thing Iâve learned since becoming a hero, itâs that everyone deserves love.â
âThat may be, but I cannot let anything, even love, take precedence over curing my heart, reuniting with Alice... and making up for the ways in which I have failed her.â He heaved a deep sigh, his sorrow almost palpable.
âI see,â she said softly. And this time, she did. She sat down gingerly beside him on the bed. âYouâre punishing yourself.â
He didnât bother to refute it.
âDo you think Alice wants you to be miserable?â
âOf course not, but she deserves to have a father. It was my actions that deprived her of that when she needed it most, and-â
âAnd youâll never forgive yourself for it,â Regina supplied. She doubted they were the words he wouldâve chosen for himself, but they were the crux of whatever poetic words he wouldâve used to avoid saying exactly that.
âI canât,â he said simply.
She nodded. She knew, all too well, the pain of remorse and the difficulty of dealing with things youâd done that simply couldnât be undone. But sheâd also learned that the past was past, and the only thing anyone could ever do with it was move on from it. Of course, that was hard - if not impossible - to do while the wound itself was still open and bleeding, as this one was.
âI canât do this, Regina. I have to maintain my focus on curing my heart, so I can be there for Alice in whatever may be left of my life. I cannot let her down again.â
âI understand,â she said gently. âI would never want to distract you from that or pull your focus away. But hey... You donât have to close yourself off, you know. You donât have to be alone.â
âI canât be with someone, either."
âAnd yet... you are.â Regina gently toyed with an errant lock of hair on his temple. âYouâre with me... and Henry... Ella and Lucy... Tiana... Zelena and Robin...â
âYou know what I mean, love.â
âAnd you know what I mean. Thereâs a million different ways to be with people, Killian. Not being with someone doesnât have to mean being alone.â
âRegardless, I have nothing to offer you. Any of you. Everything I have, everything I am... it all has to go to my daughter. I have to make this right, Regina.â
âI know, and you will, and weâll all help you do it. But what makes you think we need anything from you, other than your presence and your friendship?â
He shook his head determinedly. âYou deserve more than that, love. You deserve the world, and I... I canât give that to you.â
Regina smirked. âWho says I couldnât get it for myself? I donât need you to give me anything, Killian. Iâm perfectly capable of getting everything I need or want for myself."
âOf course,â he said, chagrined.
âExcept there is one thing you can give me: your companionship. It doesnât have to be anything. It doesnât have to have a title, or a beginning, or an end if it comes to that... Just let me be a part of your life, and be a part of mine.â
âI canât ask you to wait for me.â
âIâm not going to. Iâm free to come and go if I please, as are you. But so long as this is where I want to be... Iâll be here.â
âWhat if... I never cure my heart?â
âThen I guess youâll get old and fat again, and this time Iâll watch you do it.â She grinned. âMaybe Iâll even join you.â
He feigned shock. âMy Queen, old and fat? For shame. Such a thing could never happen.â
âIt could,â she assured him. âAnd I donât even think Iâd mind it, so long as there was someone older and fatter around to make me feel better about it.â
He laughed. âAye, my love. I know a job fit for me when I hear it.â
âGood.â She gave him a hopeful smile. âThen weâre still good for... this?â She mirrored his earlier gestures indicating the bed they shared.
âIf youâll have me, aye.â
âAlways,â she said, sealing that vow with a chaste kiss on his cheek.
