Bernd Flessner was again the dominating windsurfer in the German windsurf cup this season. At Westerland / Sylt, he managed to get his 14th title. More than 100000 visitors enjoyed the good conditions with winds up to 30 knots and the events off the water.

In the race competition, Flessner dominated the whole competition, finishing first ahead of Vincent Langer. He also won the slalom competition, but this was much harder because Windfinder Windsurf Team rider Gunnar Asmussen and Vincent Langer were hard on his heels, finishing in second and third place. The wave/freestyle competiton was won by German youngster and Gran Canaria local Philip Köster, who also won the PWA worldcup at Pozo. With this victory, he also gained the title of German champion in the wave/freestyle discipline.

Bernd Flessner succeeds again

After three days the third stop of the DWC 2008/2009 is finished.

This time Bernd Flessner had to fight really hard for his first rank. On Friday the race between Bernd and Helge Wilkens was

going to be neck and neck

. On Saturday Vincent Langer was first in two races and Helge made it once, and so did Pawel Dittrich (GER-381) (for the first time in his career).

In the end Flessner won with only 2 points ahead.

On Sunday there was no race due to absent wind.

This time Windfinder team rider Gunnar Asmussen was not as successfull as usual. He was 5th in the overall ranking. Denis Standhardt, also Team Windfinder reached the 8th rank and Phillip Müller was 11th.

The next events will be the Worldcup Sylt from Sept. 26th to Oct. 5th and the Red Bull Big Days featuring Wave-Freestyle action in Heiligenhaven, Lippe or in Weißenhaus, all located in the Hohwacht Bay (Hohwachter Bucht). It is scheduled on stand by from from October 6th - November 30th 2008 dependent on the wind.

From Sept. 5th to 7th the third and last stop of the German Windsurf Cup 2008/2009 takes place in Schönberger Strand/Kiel. About 50 riders have registered to gather valuable ranking points in the discipline racing, slalom and wave-freestyle. The spot is a favorite of Kiel's windsurfers and provides best conditions for the event.

Beside the German Champion Bernd Flessner and others, windfinder team riders Gunnar Asmussen and Denis Standhardt have also registered. Germanys best female windsurfer Steffi Wahl will also be there. Last year she was 3rd in the discipline wave riding in the World Cup in Sylt.
