Update on Shaun Reads the Sharpe Books: I have now read books one through three, which I should specify are from a set published by Penguin in 2001, and in order they are Sharpe's Rifles, Sharpe's Eagle, and Sharpe's Gold. I just started book four, Sharpe's Company. The books are not numbered in order of publication or chronological order, as far as I can tell, but I assume the good people at Penguin knew what they were doing, and I'm enjoying them a lot.
I went into this knowing relatively little about the Sharpe series, and I only vaguely remember the TV show with Sean Bean, but I did know that Book Sharpe is supposed to have dark hair, which is reflected in the cover art in my set. The artist also decided that Sharpe is Roger Moore.
The name's Sharpe... Richard Sharpe.
The preachers tell us that pride is a great sin, but the preachers are wrong. Pride makes a man, it drives him, it is the shield wall around his reputation... Men die, they said, but reputation does not die. - Bernard Cornwell,Β The Last Kingdom
Saw a post of someone saying Sharpe was almost always limping for some reason and they were like nahhh let's send him to (something dangerous) again its just a scratch and I made silly little drawing about it.

Look what I scored at Fort Meigs today! Almost all a lot of the Sharpe books for only $2 each at their used book sale! (I had to look it up but apparently there are like 25[?] of them and some rather confusing suggested orders of reading them.) The Mask of Command by military historian John Keegan was another find.
I have been trying to get into the Sharpe books but the expense of them all has been a deterrent. If I can ever stop being 1812pilled they're next on my list.

Sceadugenga is one of those wonderfully eerie Old English words that feels like it walked straight out of a cursed forest and is meant to haunt.
