Linebeck meets Link just beyond Zaus’ island to discuss the next step. During their conversation, the spirits sense something approaching, and Linebeck watches his compass/pocketwatch count down to the meeting he believes he’s missing… until the times align and the compass locks while pointing at him.

Bellum bursts from the water behind him and ambushes them, snatching Linebeck up and swiftly silencing him. It tears off his scarf, revealing the tattoo underneath, exposing that Linebeck has been lying about the specifics of his involvement with the demon.

i always forget that bellum can move his main body a fair bit, i get caught up in the metal sound when you hit it and forget that hes like. probably at least a little squishy or smth

#phantom hourglass #oshus #bellum #i have like. pages more to say abt this but you dont get it. mori does tho. but none of the rest of yall. yet #spice in suggesting some more characterization. oshus acting like they have no idea where bellum came from #when oshus was the one directly responsible for his creation. a little bit of a parent/child thing is a very loose sense #did i reference this in rotd? i cant remember. but for my purposes bellum was created by oshus like the spirits were #salty talks #ok i did vaguely allude to it in rotd. anyways. i saw bellum turn into sand at the end of ph and read the fuck into it #fits in a lot with ideas abt good and evil not being any kind of inherent part of anything and allows for a bit of worldbuilding #so its like. bellum was always a part of that world and his role in it has changed a lot with time and hes more than just 'some monster'#the spirits all knew him all had different relationships with him. things were relatively good until it started falling apart #its a bit of a weird deity relationship where bellum kinda spawns in fully sentient and they are v different #but theres like. some warmth originally. not that oshus ever fully liked him. or tried particularly hard to #idk i like the idea of that sort of connection being there and something within the relationship helping contribute #to bellum essentially turning around to being that worlds designated big zelda villain yknow #also bellum seeing linebeck and seeing his memories and going ahhahaha heyyy youve got a terrible relationship with your father too #bellum created as a sort of. helper? checks and balances they naturally oppose each other but originally could work together #but from day 1 bellum has been demonically and monstrously inclined in a way oshus didnt intend #so oshus checks up on this new deity hes making and sees its a monster demon squid thing and just goes oh hell no #and it all falls apart from there. oshus kinda fucked it up and bellum is kinda naturally belligerent anyways. heh. whatever #the spirits r small easy simple and focused creations showed up ready to go. they follow a template. bellums much more complex and powerful #and ofc oshus then was created by smth else along with his domain. probably the golden goddesses themselves at some point imo idk
