Moving in with Belle at Random Play
A/n: If anyone reading this is currently in this sort of situation, I hope you find a way out of it soon. Thank you for requesting, and I hope you enjoy!
Belle first found out about your family during a date a few months ago. She'd noticed something was wrong the moment you walked through the store door, but she didn't want to say anything in case you were just having a bad day.
However, she quickly changed her mind when, while immersed in an action film, she turned to notice you looking straight ahead with a dead expression, your eyes not even aimed towards the TV.
"Hmm? What's wrong, my little film buff?"
You snap back to reality, your eyes widening. You wipe your eyes, still trying to play it cool despite Belle obviously noticing something's wrong.
"I-I'm fine, my gremlin. I was just...thinking about something."
Belle gives you a pout.
"Y/N. You know I don't like it when you lie to me."
You look into her eyes and let out a sigh. You could never say no to her.
"I...I'm sorry, Belle. I just...can't stop thinking about my family."
Getting a little worried, Belle puts her hand on yours.
"A-Are they hurt?"
"...It's not them that are hurt."
Her eyes widen in shock at your statement.
"Y-You don't mean..."
"T-They don't really hit me, it's mostly just yelling...and expecting me to get a high-paying job...and working me to the bone at home."
Belle wraps her arms around you in a hug. She gently pulls your head towards your shoulder.
"Y/N, you never told me about this before. Are you sure you're ok? Y-You don't have to go back there if you don't want to. You could stay with me and Wise, I'm sure bro won't mind if he hears about thi-"
"No."
"H-Huh?"
"It's...not that bad. Really. They don't bother me much as long as I agree with them, and I'll be able to move out soon, anyway...probably."
You mutter that last part under your breath. Belle's expression softens, but she still shows some concern.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
Unbeknownst to Belle, you were holding back about just how bad you're parents were. Including the fact that anytime you got into even just a minor disagreement with them, they were prone to respond with physical violence. One such case would unfortunately occur just a couple days after your conversation with Belle.
After a small argument about you being too tired to wash the dishes, your father calls you an ungrateful brat, and strikes you across the face. Tears running down your cheeks, you quickly put on your shoes and rush outside, not even stopping to grab a coat despite the pouring rain.
As you wander the soaked Sixth Street of the Janus Quarter, you spot the Random Play store just across the road. Perhaps it was fate that drew you here, or maybe your instinct brought you to such a familiar location, or it could have just been pure chance. Either way, you no longer cared about holding back the truth, And so, wiping the tears from your eyes, you knock on the store door.
With Wise too busy to get it, Belle opens the door while brushing her teeth. She almost immediately stops when she sees you standing in front of her, drenched from the rain and your cheeks red from crying.
"Y/N? What happened?"
"I...I-I'm sorry. I-I just couldn't take it anymore, I had to get out of there and I didn't know where else to go a-and..."
Tears form in your eyes as you try to form a coherent sentence. You're quickly cut off, however, when Belle pulls you into a hug.
"B-Belle, you can't. You're clothes will get wet too."
"I don't care, when my little film buff is crying, their emotions take priority far above my clothes."
You want to say something back, but you can't find the words. Instead, you weakly wrap your arms around her in return, the most affection you can give after everything you've been through. Belle eventually pulls back from the hug and leads you to the bathroom.
"C'mon, you can take a shower to warm up, and I'll dry your clothes for you. I have some spare pyjamas you can wear in the meantime."
You simply nod and get into the shower. As the water runs off your body, you can't help but think about the night's events. About everything Belle did for you, even after how much your parents had convinced you you were unlovable. You wrap a towel around yourself and exit the bathroom to find a set of pyjamas waiting for you on Belle's bed.
"I bought some pyjamas in your size in case we ever had a sleepover...which I guess this sort of is."
Belle awkwardly rubs the back of her head as you change into the pyjamas. As you feel how warm they are, your previous anxiety starts to ease up a little.
"So, how do they feel?"
You answer her question by rushing into a hug with her. The speed accidentally pushes her backwards onto the bed, as you fall with her onto her chest. Your eyes widen, expecting some sort of punishment from your behaviour, only to instead hear Belle start to laugh. The soft melody of her voice melts away any doubt of her love for you.
A few moments later, the two of you lay cuddling on her bed, your head still on her chest as she strokes your hair.
"You can use my things for tonight, and tomorrow we'll go get the rest of your stuff while your parents are at work, ok?"
"W-What do you mean? I-I can't stay he-"
"Nope. I'm not taking no for an answer again. Not after what they did to you. And don't bother arguing with me, I know you can't say no to your cute girlfriend."
You want to argue, but just like Belle says, you can't say no to her. Tears form in your eyes once more as you look up at her, and you quickly bury your head in her chest as she resumes stroking you.
"Thank you...my gremlin."
She gives a smile, glad to hear you're feeling well enough to tease her again.
"It's no problem, my film buff. You never have to hold anything back again."
A few days later, you approach Wise working the store while Belle is buys watching a movie.
"M-Mr Wise, sir. I...I'd like to ask you about getting a job working the store. I-I wouldn't feel right living here without contributing anything, but I know if I asked Belle she'd just insist that I couldn't be a burden if I tried. So...please. I'll do anything, really."
"Hey, hey. There's no need to be like that, just Wise is fine. If you really want to work here, I'd be happy to hire you, with a decent wage of course. Just make sure you take good care of my sister...and tell her it was your idea if she finds out."
"O-Of course. Thank you, W-Wise."
"And by the way, if it means anything...I'd be happy to have you as an in-law."
"W-What do you mean by that?"
He gives you a pat on the shoulder.
"...I'll let Belle explain that one."
