At this point, I want Nikki to win because of justice, because of a lesson. WWE wants us to believe they are building the women up, they’re doing everything to support the female superstars, that the females can be just as great as the males... and then they go and let Ronda do a slut-shaming promo. I am aware it was mentioned Ronda wrote the promo herself, without any input, and just changed “Bitch” to “Bella” but that doesn’t make this any better. It only proves WWE knew what she would say to Nikki and Brie and they let her. Yes, it’s supposed to be entertainment, but this goes deeper. Even more, since it continued on social media. It’s one thing to insult other wrestlers in character, say some mean things, but it’s a whole other level if you take it to such a demeaning level. 

WWE not keeping Rousey under control is not the biggest problem, though. The promo and every word followed by Ronda is a slap in the faces of not only Brie and Nikki but every successful woman. In the faces of every female out there who was ever broken down to nothing but her gender. Your achievements don’t count, especially not when you also managed to find a man and fall in love with him while archiving them, if the man is in the same line of work as you or not. You can only be successful when you open your legs and look pretty. If you’re feuding with another female, it is totally fine to belittle her and slut-shame her, throw away every bit of feminism that ever existed in this goddamn world. Because that’s the only way to go. It happened for years and years and years before you, so it’s a safe thing to do. Screw evolution, screw progress.  I am almost thirty years old and it sickens me to hear those things over and over again. The same lines, the same accusations, the same hurtful things. Not only in any feud including the Bellas but anytime two women clash. One way or another, the slut-shaming always pops up, either in reality or used in fake scenes as an element for more drama. It makes me wonder if me - a grown-up woman - gets so affected by it, what do younger girls think when they see and hear something like that? What does it teach them? Seeing so many people celebrating Ronda’s words, cheering her on, is heartbreaking. Does it scare the younger girls, the one we are supposed to teach women are equal to men, women are more than just somebody to slut-shame? Does it turn them into the next generation of women using the same slurs and spitting them at any other women they might clash with instead of turning them into stable women who may have beef with each other but use other things to criticize their counterpart.
