You know, thinking through the night about the anon who was so upset about me saying I looked younger than I am, it is kind of sad, as women, that we even think about looking younger than we are. Society has really gotten into our heads about stupid shit like that. We should be proud of looking our age because we made it that far and that alone is an accomplishment. And no small accomplishment at that, at least for me. But I was smaller than others growing up, smaller than my younger sisters, and looked younger than them as well. I always got told I didn't look old enough for this and that, not tall enough for this ride or that ride. And now that I am in my 30s and am still told by random customers at work and coworkers and my wife's friends that I look much younger than my age, for once looking younger or smaller isn't keeping me from anything like it did while growing up. It is in fact surprising to people that I have lived so much life despite looking like I haven't, and it just makes me happy. My mother is 4'11, and up until a certain age where she just fucking AGED (the evil finally got out of her and showed it's true colours), she always looked "too young to be a mother" and she was "too short to do this" and blah blah. So I've heard this rhetoric my whole life to my mother and then to me. I'm not as short as my mother, but I know that if I stood amongst the class that I graduated with, I'd definitely look younger than them (probably helps that I'm one of the few that didn't have children). Not to say that I FIT IN with the younger people, because I don't care about social media (I only have tumblr) and I don't follow every new trend that appears online, so I don't wear similar clothes to them or follow what new slang is being said this year versus what was said in my 20s, lol. If I stood quietly, you'd wonder, for sure, how old I really was, but then as soon as I spoke, you'd know that I was no youngin'. :P
