“You’re . . . you’re really leaving me?”

“I don’t want this to be goodbye.”

“Please, just stay here with me . . .”

“I’ll be with you, forever, okay? I promise . . .”

“You can’t just go!”

“I don’t care if you hate me just please don’t leave.”

“But what if I don’t get to see you again?”

“I’ll be back.” “No you won’t.”

“I don’t want you to walk away . . . not now . . .”

“Quit running away from me!”

“Anything but leaving me again. I’ll do anything, I’ll be good, I’ll fix myself so please don’t leave me . . .”

“If you’re going to leave then don’t bother coming back.”

“If you leave now I won’t forgive you.”

“You were gone! You left!”

“I was always scared for this to happen . . .” “What?” “For you to walk away . . .”

“If I don’t get to see you tomorrow, you have to FaceTime and let me see your face.”

I don't need your reasons.

I don't need your explanations.

I don't need your apologies.

If you have decided to leave, then leave.

I won't give you the satisfaction of saying all those words that you have prepared in your head last night while I was sound asleep.

Walk away as I stare quietly into the nothingness.

The moment you start to wonder if you've made the right decision will be the moment I have already started to let go.
