Thinking about Book II's villain duo today. They deserved a poster.

Beglamour's title has been no secret since Chimehour released, but I'm very, very happy to share the first look at its plot!! This will also be up on my website (along with Book 3's title) very soon: "Winter closes its curtain on 1901, and six months following the Outbreak, life has settled back to normal for Stanley Brigham and company- mostly. He, Vincent, and Willow are now shadowed by Awen at every turn, the Druidic circle guarding in silence as the ripples of The Morrigan’s dark magic continue to settle. Death still manages to draw the strangest of folk though, and home becomes its latest sight when London is visited by Mozelle Braire, a French spiritualist from the Grand Guignol, on the rise since Ireland’s fall. Her presence becomes more than folly when Stanley realizes that she is a fellow Chime Child, hardly a charlatan in her connection with the undead, and with abilities unlike anything Stanley can accomplish. He reaches out in hopes an understanding ear, unaware of the dark shadows that just might creep along Mozelle’s path. Across the water and newly returned to Ireland, Cecilia Prenderghast’s world is far from perfect. She had hoped that returning home would bring her peace, her dreams are dashed by way of her overbearing family, and the even more overbearing attention of Adam Foley, who has promised $15,000 pounds to her dowry if she can find a suitor within the next year. A simple task- he even presents a respected writer, Ashleigh Crowley, as a potential match. Now, if only Cecilia could sleep, suddenly haunted by vivid nightmares by night, and a horrible phantom in her waking hours… one that, if she didn’t know any better, sound very much like her deceased twin brother. In a difficult collection of choices, I decided to move just a handful of chapters out from Chimehour's sequel and completely start from scratch. Rewriting this book feels like a monumental task already, and I've only just begun to organize.
Book II as was just didn't have enough to salvage that matched with the final version of Chimehour. It was a functional sequel of a book that just doesn't exist anymore, so I'm kinda refreshed, knowing I'm not anchored into the worst parts of this older draft. Plus old Book II is largely becoming the bones of Book III!
Still, rewriting is gonna be horrible for awhile. I have made a completely new file, just to erase the old Book II from my brain. I take heart that I have a more solid book to build from now. And wine.

Picked up a cold somewhere along the week, but it's nothing a little coffee won't fix. Typing up a few long forgotten chapters of Beglamour and bouncing back on a new short story today. I can only hope I keep the writing energy up as I segway into holiday hours at the bookstore this week. #amwriting #amreading #chimehour #beglamour #writinglife #writing #writeblr #writersofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/BqapUkAn2Iu/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1tvqvss1pbsuy
Some General Writing Thoughts: Post-Novel and Pre-Writing-The-New-Novel
So, last week I finished the final-final-final edits on my first novel (the ones I am happy with in the event I self-publish, and the most polished I can get it without an editor/agent) and so shipped off my last queries and fulls. This week, I got the pleasure of seeing “Shoppe Walpurgis”, my gothic fairytale set in Berlin, published in Mosaic 2018, my selective university magazine! There’s a lot of finality associated with these two things, so coming into my writing again is both easier and challenging all at once. Returning to “Beglamour” has been slow and note-heavy, but I think that promises that it will clean up more nicely than “Chimehour” did- maybe it won’t even take five years to finish. xD So yes, I am behind on my Camp NaNo goal, but I am at least progressing to something larger. It isn’t quite the same spark I found when I started doing this, but I think I use it all the same. ^^
"Haunt Me" seems fitting for you
(I actually finished this, holy shit. yay)He knew Cecilia couldn’t see him anymore. He’d known that for quite a long time. An eternity since the first day, scorching pain filling his form as he fizzled into existence, a dark, ordinary nothing without human form, voiceless, shapeless, and lacking of whatever he’d been before this form became him. But he could remember Cecilia, somewhere in the twine of his being, their similarly dark hair and emerald eyes, the mortal twinkle in her laugh, the careful grace in her speech. Always more a leader in nature than he was ever capable of, as though their souls had been split from birth, and she meant to the male body he’d been so humbly granted.
Was he male before? But he supposed that “he” meant something to his mind, or whatever remained.
He recalled the sunshine from a window and Cecilia with him, laughing as they studied together. Names: Mansfield, Brigham, Fowler, Foley… Who was Foley?Oh, it didn’t matter, he supposed. It would come to him eventually….(Send me a drabble!)
