Third big knit ever— summer socks!! :)
Pattern: Lush Lemonade Socks by StoneKnits
a baby knitter's first socks
y'all.... I DID IT! I knitted my first pair of socks!! I am SO proud of myself. They're a little uneven because I didn't figure out how to do a twisted rib (which I realized I much prefer) until the second sock. I also had to redo one sock three times because I kept getting holes in the gusset, but alas!! I finished!! Time for a sock fashion show!
I certainly have a lot to improve upon, but the fact that these are wearable and comfy is a major win in my book!
Finished knitting my first ever swear 🥰🥰🥰
Which one are you?
I regularly break my crochet hooks and knitting needles
What kind of fiber arts are y’all doing for that to happen???
I don’t knit or crochet button.

Over Christmas I knitted the Stockholm Slipover V-Neck by PetiteKnit, and it's finally mild enough to wear it for the first time! I wore it to the office along with my big green cardigan and multicolour scarf to ensure I put the CLOWN in corporate.
This was a relatively quick and satisfying knit (and no sleeve tedium!), and being plain stockinette, it made for a nice, thoughtless project to bring with me when I went back to my parents' place for Christmas. I love the ribbing along the neckline, which has a wonkiness that adds to the charm, I think you'll agree. I loved wearing it today with a bright pink t-shirt underneath. I'm already thinking about making another - maybe in a green..or a variegated yarn? The pinky-red shade choice (and the reason I knitted this in the first place) is because I saw my neighbour wearing a fuzzy, bright-but-deep pink slipover with buttons (more like Vest No.7 by My Favourite Things) and I thought she looked great. I chickened out of doing a button version though.... I hope I can feel brave enough to try a button band eventually. Picking up stitches is just such a bear. But anyway! I love that I can see someone in a peice of knitwear and find a way to make something similar. For this version, I used Knitting for Olive's Merino in Pink Daisies, held with Rowan's Fine Tweed Haze in the shade Rose. I love the look of the Tweed Haze and am planning to use it again, in a beautiful light blue shade, for quite an ambitious next project...!
So, very happy with how this turned out, and I definitely recommend it to confident beginners and beyond.
And this is the first big project I've completed. Now, looking back, I still consider it boring as hell, all that endless stockinette. But the pride! To have something big to show off! To prove to myself that yes, I CAN make myself a sweater, that was priceless.
Of course, it's been a year or two since then, this cardigan never had all the ends woven in and it still hasn't been blocked, but I guess such is the life of a knitter - I'm only interested in knitting and anything beyond that is a chore to be avoided lol
The cardigan I started knitting on a long drive home from western Scotland, passing the Rest & Be Thankful point en route. There is always
from this, to that✨
Finally finished my first-ever knitted sweater!! It’s so wonky and terribly imperfect, I didn’t know how to increase stitches, so there are a few holes in it 😂😂😂😂 But anyway I’m proud of myself!
Now it’s time for blocking, and I’m excited to see how it turns out after it dries
