That 10 Facts about Me Meme
I was hoping not to get tagged, but as I've been tagged three times, I will take that as a sign that I should write something. My apologies to befralee, who tagged me first, to whom I said I wasn't going to do this.
1. I was born in Ohio, outside of Cleveland. I now live in Massachusetts.
2. I have moved 19 times in my lifetime. I have been at my current address for almost 7 years. I want to move.
3. I am a College dropout, mostly as a result of finances and lack of motivation. I have no desire to go back, but if someone were willing to pay my way for me, I might entertain going back to get a degree in Economics. My original major, had I not dropped out, would have been Computer Science.
4. I have been debt free for 7 years. It breaks my heart to see others deeply mired in debt.
5. I was once a Blackjack dealer (also Pai-Gow Poker). Pai-Gow Poker is one of the most fun games you can deal. Blackjack was an awkward fit for me. I now write software for a living, but I've come to eschew titles and I only describe myself as someone who codes, or I say "I code" if someone asks me. I'm not a fan of the egotistical games played by many in this field.
6. I have driven cross-country through the United States. I highly recommend doing this once in your lifetime if you have the opportunity. Also, do make the drive with someone who won't make you crazy, and don't do it if otherwise.
7. Most know me as a Red Sox fan, but growing up I was an Orioles fan first, then Athletics, then Red Sox. I am somewhat of a half-and-half fan now between the Red Sox and Athletics, and I am woefully out of date with the rosters of both teams.
8. I played the piano for 14 years, as I was growing up, from the age of 4 until I was 18. Someday I would like to own a piano and play again.
9. I have driven about 220,000 miles (354,000 km) in my lifetime. I wonder, and do think that I have a decent chance at driving a million miles in my lifetime.
10. I once recall hearing someone describe introverts as people who speak with the ongoing concern that other people are waiting for them to shut up. I feel like this all the time (as an introvert).
I am not going to tag anyone, but if you wanted to, I think that any of you could simply post ten things about yourself anytime you like. If you do, feel free to leave me an askbox message if you'd like me to read it. I will definitely make sure to read it if you leave me a message.
