A Brew Donkey tour was the best way to visit with the sisters over the Easter weekend. A school bus trip to the east landed us at Tuque de Broue (Embrun), Beau’s (VanKleek Hill) and Cassel (Casselman). We were greeted with ample pours of Tuque Doree, Barbe Blanche, Gougounes Rousses, La Cavalerie d’Houblons and Portage Porter at Tuque de Broue. We indulged in several seasonals at Beau’s with Lamb’s Wool Spiced Gruit Ale brewed with local apples, Cherry Revue Gose, Do No Evil Sake Lager, Great Planes Biere de Garde and many of the regulars. Our final stop was Cassel where we sampled their popular Golden Rail Honey Brown Ale, the Franco Lager, Caboose IPA, Lil Red and the Railroad Special - Maple Rye Ale brewed with maple sap instead of water. With a few beer souvenirs in hand, we all returned in one piece thanks to our driver Ian and host Jamie.

It’s a New England Pale Ale with riwaka and el dorado hops at 5.5% ABV. It’s smooth, pillowy with a little bit of tropic and a little bit of pine.
