I just realized that I haven’t checked their website in years.  I have no idea if they are still a band.  2005’s Super Extra Gravity is the last album of theirs I own.  Let’s see what they have been up to since then.

(Five minutes later) It looks like they played some live shows over the past few years and put out a greatest hits album in 2008.  I also found out that they put out a b-sides album called The Other Side of the Moon in 1997.  When I read about all this I got that sudden feeling of ‘oh shit, how did I not know about these?  I should have kept up with what they were doing.’  But it looks like they didn’t play any US shows since reuniting, so yeah.

“Been It” is on the album First Band on the Moon, which became a hit in the US because of the song “Lovefool.”  Like many people, I bought the album because of that one song.  After a few weeks I got a little sick of that song and listened to the album less and less for a few years.  Then around 2004 I listened to the album again and realized that every song on it is great.  I remembered the songs from when I first got the album, but for some reason I let my opinion of “Lovefool” determine my opinion of the full album for a few years.  Then I ended up buying the rest of their albums and they became one of my favorite bands for a few years.  I still like them a lot, especially their album Gran Turismo.  

Free trivia - Today is the first time I saw the video for “Been It.”  Probably.  Maybe.
