Whatâs All the Buzz About? Pt. 2
Hello I am back again with part 2 of my Bee Hybird Submas fic (â´âĄ`â) The fic is inspired by @r0-boatâs BeeGearStation Au! Please go check out her work, itâs really fun and amazing to read! The designs for the hybrids were heavily inspired by @antidotesprout! Please go check them out as well! Their art is truly amazing! I struggled a bit with this chapter, I will not lie. I apologize if it feels a teeny bit off. It felt like I was a bit everywhere with this one. Regardless, I hope you all enjoy the chapter! Summary: After an unfortunate cave in, you find out the subway tunnels you were trapped in were actually now part of a Bee Hybrid hive. Thankfully, one of the twin Kings have offered to take care of you until you recover! Though you were thankful for the help, you canât help but be a bit nervous at what you might encounter... CW: Leg injury, minor anxiety attack, spiraling dark thoughts, mentions of a cave in, mentions or coercion, bee hybrids, Hybrid!Submas, King Bee Emmet, King Bee Ingo, Word Count: 6744 words! >Previous: Link >Next: Link ------
Your day has gone from bad, to horrible, to damn near unbelievable. From being coerced into going âexploringâ with your boss and coworkers, to being stuck and injured in the subway tunnels from a cave in thanks to said boss and coworkers, then to being found by a King bee hybrid. You didnât even think King bees existed, let alone hybrid ones. And now? You were being carried bridal style by said King bee hybrid, who happily hummed as he strolled through the tunnels, carrying you to his hive. He had offered to help you rest and recover, assuring you no harm would come to you in his care. Seeing as your leg was completely out of commission, you had no idea where you were in the tunnels, and you were terribly exhausted, you decided to take him up on his offer. ...Not like you had much of a choice. But, he seemed genuine and kind, and you were just so done with everything. You needed a break. Even if it meant being taken to a live hive full of bees, as long as you got some food and sleep, youâd take it at this point. Even if it was a bit odd. Emmet had insisted on carrying you, and you were a bit hesitant at first. However, your leg was in no shape to continue having pressure, so you accepted his offer. He had even insisted on walking instead of flying, worried he might jostle your leg if he flew through the tunnels. You were a little touched he, a complete stranger, seemed to care so much. If you were being honest, you were also a bit mystified by the man, you couldnât help but look him over. He was tall, taller than any human you had ever seen. No doubt he was easily over 7 feet. The way he held you in his arms made you feel especially small. He also wore a uniform of sorts. It was a white uniform, though he wore a golden tie, and his coat had gold patterns on the sleeves and along the middle. You couldnât help but think it looked good on him. For some reason, it really fit him, though you couldnât explain why. âŚAnd you may or may not have found it adorable how his antennae fit through the brim of his white hat, twitching every now and again. âSee something you like?â He suddenly asked, jogging you out of your thoughts. His eyes playfully glinted as they stared back at your own. You could feel your face heat up, knowing you had been caught staring. His smile seemed to grow almost smug at your blush, and his antennae twitched. âI⌠Was looking at your uniform. Sorry.â you quickly apologized. Emmet only seemed amused. Your face burned hotter as he continued to stare. Thankfully, he decided to give you a break, and you felt him shift you ever so slightly. âDo you like it? My uniform? It is inspired by the role of the subway boss that this city used to have!â He excitedly gushed to you, trying to show off his outfit. You couldnât help but smile at his enthusiasm. âIt looks nice on you. Did you make it?â You asked, trying to make small talk, and feeling more comfortable, seeing how happy he was. Emmetâs smile brightened, and you couldnât help but think his smile looked good on him. âNo, but I had commissioned a friend of the hive to make it for my brother and myself! Through trade, they even made extra Depot Agent uniforms for the drones!â He explained. You blinked. â...So the whole hive is themed like the subway?â You asked, a bit surprised. Emmet nodded excitedly.
âYup yup! The drones were quite taken with the uniforms! After the Queen died, we had more freedom to do as we wished, dress as we wished.â You were still a bit surprised. You hadnât heard of insect hybrid colonies or hives doing this, but it was kind of a cute visual, if you were being honest. Though you couldnât help but wonder a bit at what he said. Just when had their Queen died? Had he not always been a King? How did that even work? You didnât think hives even had King bees. Then there was the fact he didnât exactly seem pleased when he talked about his former Queen. You couldnât help but wonder if their reign hadnât been a peaceful one. Were they strict? Overbearing maybe? Or maybe even worse in ways you didnât want to imagine. As much as you wanted to ask, you wondered if it would be rude to do so, especially seeing as he was one of the current Kings. That was another thing you were curious about. You knew hives usually only had one Queen. From you could remember, you know that regular hives could sometimes have two Queens, but this wasnât a regular bee hive. Could hybrid hives even have multiple royals? Perhaps it wasnât impossible. As you thought this, you nearly missed the large door covered in wax that Emmet carried you through. It was such a shock, you nearly blanked out from the large area. Everything was covered in wax and combs. There were bee hybrids everywhere you looked! Some were flying throughout the room, others were on the walls, others were milling about on the floor, heading to one place or another. Some bees were even chatting with each other, and checking on papers or clip boards.Â
This definitely explained all the buzzing you had been hearing, and the drones digging tunnels into the walls was the rumbling, you assumed. True to Emmetâs word earlier, the bees all seemed to be wearing variations of the Depot Agent uniforms that the station used to have. Despite what some might call as chaos, you couldnât help but find it all finely organized. If you were being honest with yourself, you were in awe at what you were seeing. Chances were, you were one of the few humans that ever even got to step foot in a hybrid hive, let alone this hive in particular. âImpressed?â Emmetâs voice once again shocked you out of your thoughts. His eyes seemed to almost light up as he watched you take in the hive. âItâs⌠Wow! I havenât seen anything like this before. Itâs so cool!â You spoke quietly, still amazed at the sights of the hive. Emmet couldnât help but feel his antennae twitch at your words and expression, and his body straightened up with pride. It was a step forward! After all, how could you rule a hive, if you didnât even like how it looked? That, and the fact that the cute human he found liked his home! You were impressed with what you saw so far, and this was only a small part of the whole structure! Not to mention, you didnât seem freaked out in the slightest. He had to hold back his wings from buzzing in excitement. It was no secret amongst insect hybrids that they were not well liked among human kind. He had heard all sorts of things from other hybrids, and even from some humans himself. It wasnât exactly fun being called or referred to as a âcreepy crawly hybridâ, either. Most humans stayed clear of his kind, and his kind likewise did the same. Sure, there was the little hiccup when you first saw him, but it was now obvious it was from your situation, and your nerves. You seemed un-bothered about his and the dronesâ appearances now that you were a bit more calm! Yes, this was already going a lot smoother than he had originally aimed for. Meanwhile, as Emmet carried you further into the hive, you couldnât help but shift a bit in Emmetâs hold every now and then. Every time you passed a bee, if they werenât busy, theyâd see you in the Kingâs grip, and stare. Some seemed confused, Some seemed suspicious, others almost looked as awed as you felt. But much to Emmetâs word, they did nothing to you. They didnât even stop the King hybrid as he merrily carried you along. The stares made you a bit uneasy. Just what would have happened if Emmet had not come across you? Would they have attacked on sight? Or had given you directions out of the tunnels? You couldnât help but think of the âwhat ifsâ, and just how close you could have possibly been to death. This didnât go unnoticed by Emmet. You didnât seem bothered by the drones themselves, but you seemed a bit skittish when they openly stared at you both. He supposed he couldnât blame you. You were in a very vulnerable state. Though it made him feel a bit sad you felt this way. But no matter! Himself and Ingo could get the hive used to you in no time. He was sure with a little bit of kindness, and a bit of a push, you would grow comfortable with his drones as well! After all, he really didnât want you scared of the other bees, especially when you seemed so interested in them. Truly, as long as himself and Ingo said so, the drones would never lift a finger towards you. He had to make you comfortable. Though that left another thing lingering in Emmetâs mind. No doubt Ingo wouldnât be pleased with him bringing a random human into the hive without consulting him first. Emmet was sure Ingo would listen to reason when he heard your story, and saw you were injured. His older twin may be wary of humans, but he had always been curious of them, and a big softie to boot, despite his strict face. Ingo also didnât like turning people away who needed help, unless it hurt the hive. But how to get Ingo on his side for his grand plan? How to convince him? As he went over his minor mental dilemma, you could only admire the hive as Emmet crossed the giant area, taking you into a large hallway. The few bees in the area quickly moved out of his way. Although many had their eyes on you, they still took time to greet the King. Some offered a small wave or smile, others gave a brief bow. It made you critically aware of just how casually you had been treating someone considered royalty this whole time. He didnât seem upset or anything, from what you could tell. Still, you couldnât help but feel a bit nervous. Have you done anything offensive that you were unaware of? You donât think youâve done or said anything, but you couldnât help but feel a bit weird about it. âUm⌠Mr. EmmetâŚâ You spoke up gently. His eyes landed back on you. âYes? You may just refer to me as Emmet.â He told you. Despite the assurance, you could help but still be a bit nervous. âAbout that⌠Should I be referring to you with a royal title as well? I donât want to offend youâŚâ You spoke, unsure about the situation. He was being kind enough to let you stay and heal, you didnât want him upset. At your question, he seemed to stop for a moment and think. âNo. You are not a drone, you are a guest of the hive. Emmet is just fine.â He told you, though. âBut thank you for asking!â You let out a sigh of relief. You hadnât offended him, and you had permission to just refer to him as his name. An odd thing to have been hung up on, but you couldnât afford to piss a King off, you figure. Before you could dwell more on it, Emmet turned a corner, and entered a rather large room. Like the hall and the large room from before, it was covered in wax, and had several dozen honeycombs littering the walls. There were several drones flying around, checking on the combs, or milling about. A few drones were even on the beds, some hidden behind curtains, others being checked on by other drones. The room itself had several beds across the room, and you easily figured this must be an infirmary of sorts. As Emmet walked in, almost all eyes were on the King and you. You fought the urge to squirm in his hold as he carried you to the corner of the room. A few drones moved out of his way, and he gently placed you down on a very soft cot of sorts. âGive me just a moment, please.â He told you, and ushered a few drones over, and walked a bit of ways away to speak to them. You sat on the elevated bed, looking around the room, though it was a little hard to do so. The bed Emmet had chosen for you had a curtain around the side of it, so you took in what you could. The drones especially had caught your attention, not just the ones talking to Emmet. The King hadnât been kidding about a subway theme for the hive. Almost all the drones walking and flying around were wearing the green Depot Agent uniform that the official subway used in the heart of Nimbasa city. They each had 2 sets of arms, one through the regular sleeves, and a pair of arms just under the other pair, ripped through the uniform. An odd detail you also noticed. The King only seemed to have one pair of arms. You supposed that was normal? Though you didnât know enough about King bee anatomy to dispute it. You couldnât help but also notice little details about the drones. They all looked very similar at a glance, sure, but they each had their own unique little traits. From height, weight, muscle (did bees have muscles???), wings, and even fuzz and face details. They looked so cool. You couldnât help but find them interesting to watch. You were already a bit of a people watcher, so getting to watch hybrid bee drones move around and work like this was fascinating to you. But you also didnât want to just stare at them. Was that rude? Probably. Though itâs not like you had anything else you could do. It was the only thing capturing your attention, and distracting you a bit from the increasing pain your leg was in. Emmet was too far away for you to hear what he was saying to the drones, though you did see some salute him, and run out of the infirmary. He seemed to then instruct another set of bees, occasionally gesturing to you. Whatever he was saying seemed to catch them by surprise, though he had their utmost attention. Some even had clipboards, and were furiously writing down notes, occasionally glancing your way, then back at the King. You werenât quite sure if that was a good thing or not. Before you could dwell on it further, Emmet quickly returned to your side with several of the drones he had been talking with. He seemed excited, along with the bees, who all seemed eager to see you.
âExcellent news! I have some drones on standby learning more about human anatomy to help you heal comfortably. As they go over the information, the hiveâs medics will be looking over you to the best of their ability. Will that be alright with you?â He asked, looking over at you expectantly.Â
You blinked, trying to process what he just said for a moment. That⌠Was already a lot. You just expected maybe to have a bed and wait for the break to heal so you could leave, maybe get it rebroken at an ER so it could heal properly. This was going above and beyond what you expected them to do for you. They waited for you to answer patiently, and you finally nodded your head. âI⌠Okay. That will be alright.â Perhaps you should have given it more thought, but the bees were already moving after you gave them the okay. Still, thoughts couldnât help but flow through your mind. Should you have agreed? When will you be better? When would you be able to go home? You felt the exhaustion hit you when you thought about everything going on in your life, now that you had ended up trapped. Did your boss call anyone? What about your coworkers? Had they left you in that tunnel to die? Have they even alerted the police you had been left behind, probably injured and alone? Did they even think you were alive?
âŚDid they even care? Would you end up just a passing thought? Would your boss cover up your disappearance?
Would your family even be informed?
You could feel your mind quickly beginning to spiral as you really began to think about everything.Â
Your breathing was picking up, and your vision was beginning to blur. Faintly, you could feel yourself beginning to sweat. Just out of your vision, you were barely aware of the drones moving around you, until you felt a cold hand on your shoulder. The touch startled you, and you looked up. Emmet was looking at you, and the smile you had gotten used to seeing on his face was nowhere to be seen. âAre you alright?â He asked, clearly concerned.Â
You had begun to smell⌠Off. Nor had you looked completely there. When you had started shaking and breathing quickly, he was quick to worry. What was wrong? Was this a human thing? Was it the shock wearing off?Â
Different questions ran through his mind, and his wings twitched with worry. When you turned to look up at him, he felt his breath catch. The way you looked at him made you seem so vulnerable. It really hit him in that moment, just how much you must be going through. He couldnât say if it was physical pain, mental pain, or a mixture of everything, but you were trying so hard not to break. You took a moment to stare at him, before reaching up, and rubbing the tears that threatened to fall away. His presence had luckily snapped you out of it before you fell in too deep. âY-Yeah. Sorry. Just⌠overwhelmed. Sorry âbout that.â You mumbled, looking away from him, a bit embarrassed. Emmet thought to himself for a moment. He really couldnât imagine what you must be feeling, or what you are going through. Emmet had no idea what kind of life you lived, especially since he had just met you about an hour ago. There was a slight peace in his mind, knowing this was probably just stress in general, not fear from his hive. But he would not lie. He was worried about you. The stress you were under must be immense.Â
Internally, he went over what you may need in his head. First, you needed medical aid, which his drones were already working on. He had already sent several to grab some human medical aid supplies that he knew had been left behind when the subway was abandoned. After that, you probably needed rest, first and foremost. That, and food and water, something he had sent several other drones on a mission to find. If he recalled correctly, humans could eat a lot of things, including fruit. Some fruit, added with some of their honey, and you should be feeling better in no time! But first, you needed medical attention and rest.Â
Perhaps he should move you to a separate room? Youâll probably feel more at ease, with less curious eyes on you. Just as he opened his mouth to ask if youâd like that, the doors to the infirmary burst open. âEMMET!â Emmet winced. You meanwhile, jumped at the sudden loud noise. When you faced the direction of the doors, you were surprised to see another bee hybrid the size of Emmet turn the corner. âEmmet, just what do you think you are-â He said, beginning to lecture the other hybrid, only to pause when he saw you past the curtains. You shied back a bit from his intense gaze. The hybrid stared at you for a moment, mouth agape as he looked you over. His eyes landed on your injured leg, before he glanced back at you, and then back to Emmet. As he did so, you got a good look at him. This must be Emmetâs twin brother. Emmet hadnât specified how he had a twin, only mentioning to you in the tunnels he was one of the twin Kings of the hive. And they certainly looked like it, as they stood side by side. Where Emmetâs coat was white and gold, his brotherâs was black and gold. Even his trousers were black, along with his little hat, which also had a gold trim above the rim. Other than that, the only physical difference was the frown on his brotherâs face, where Emmet still had a smile. Though you could tell the smile was now a nervous one. Those two were nearly identical.Â
You fought back the heat rising in your cheeks as he stared at you.Â
He was just as pretty as his brother. A beat passed, and Emmet tried to speak up.
âIngo-â Ingo(?) quickly turned to Emmet, before casting one more glance at you, then pulling his brother away from the bed you were on. You could only hope you werenât getting Emmet in trouble by being here⌠Emmet however, was more or less expecting this to happen, just not as soon as it did. Ingo pulled him into the corner of the infirmary, making sure you were out of sight and hearing range, before his brotherâs eyes were on him. âI can explain-â Emmet began, before Ingo crossed his arms, wings twitching in irritation. âYes, please do. Why did you think it would be a good idea to bring a human into the hive, without consulting anyone first?â Despite how upset his brother seemed, Emmet held himself back from sighing in relief. He could read his twin better than anyone. Ingo was upset, sure, but also incredibly curious. No doubt after seeing your injury, he had an idea what had happened, but wanted to hear it from Emmet himself. Emmet took a deep breath, before explaining. âI was in the tunnels north of here, going over the expansion progress from our workers. I had been flying back, when I saw the human limping in the dark at the first diverging set of tracks.â He began, and he had Ingoâs immediate attention. âFrom the split tracks? So they came in from the poorly sealed entrance that had been broken into a few years ago? Isnât that still unstable?â Ingo asked, his tone growing worried. Emmet nodded in confirmation. âYes. Apparently, they came down here because they were made to by their boss and his drones. From what I could gather, somehow the entrance caved in, and the humanâs leg was crushed, and they were left behind.â Ingoâs eyes widened, and he glanced back in the direction of the cot you were sitting on, before landing back on Emmet. âAnd they walked all the way to the crossroads? With a broken leg?â Emmet grinned at Ingoâs awestruck expression. âNope! They walked even further.â Ingo looked at him in disbelief. âI followed them for a while, unaware that they had been injured. I was curious as to why they were down here, and if they were here for the hive. I had concluded they were actually injured, and approached them about 30 minutes out from the north lobby.â Emmetâs hands raised as he tried to explain what happened, his wings and antennae twitching as he did so. âThey were startled at first, but seemed surprised, rather than scared to see me. In fact, I think they were rather impressed.â Ingo stared at him for a moment. âSo they werenât scared of you, an insect hybrid?â Emmet shook his head, his grin growing. âNope. They seemed surprised to see me, but did not fear me!â
It was mostly the truth. Sure, he did scare you, but that was more situational than his hybrid status.
What Ingo didnât know wouldnât hurt him. Ingo had an odd look on his face, and raised a hand to his chin as he continued to think. âSo, I offered them help. They were alone, and were about to walk into the hive anyways. They are injured, and are no threat.â Emmet assured Ingo, though continued to speak. âI apologize for not informing you first, I-â Emmet began, and Ingo raised his hand, causing Emmet to pause. âI can see where you are coming from now. No apology needed. I apologize instead for yelling at you in front of our guest. I owe them an apology as well, it seems.â
Emmetâs smile widened. He knew it would not take much for Ingo to waver over this!
Though before his brother could walk over to see you, he grabbed Ingoâs sleeve.
âI would like to talk to you momentarily in private, after this.â Ingo looked over Emmetâs expression, trying to glean just what he wanted to talk about, though nodded his head anyway. Judging by Emmetâs tone and face, he was serious. âOkay. Will do.â After that, Emmet let go of Ingoâs jacket, and both walked back over to the bed you were sitting on, talking to a drone with a clipboard. â...No, not particularly. I should be fine eating that.â They heard you say, and the drone eagerly wrote something down. Both you and the drone looked up when both twins arrived. The drone did a small bow in greeting, before continuing to write. Ingo cleared his throat, before tilting his head towards. âHello, I would like to apologize for my earlier outburst. I had not been made aware of the situation. I hope you can forgive me for startling you.â Ingo said, putting a hand to his chest, and doing a small bow. Ingo felt a bit embarrassed that he had yelled and intimidated you. If you were truly an injured human who Emmet deemed no threat, then he would treat you like a guest. Both of them dreamed of being good hosts to those who needed it, even if they werenât going out of their way to have guests. It was something the last Queen hadnât been, and they wished to change that. What better way than starting with an injured human? You were a bit speechless though, seeing the other King of the hive just come up and apologize to you. âOh⌠Itâs okay. You didnât do anything wrong.â You told him, tilting your head. Emmet had mentioned he would need to let his brother know at some point, though you guessed the drones must have gotten the news to his twin first. Ingo shook his head. âI still yelled without knowing the situation. I apologize for doing so.â Despite the frown on his face, he seemed genuinely upset. It tugged at your heart a little bit. You gave him a small smile. âI accept your apology then. Iâm not upset!â The hybrid then gave you a nod, and what looked like a small smile. âIâm glad. Now then, how is everything? What do you need?â He asked, clapping his hands together. You blinked, and looked between the two royals, and then to the drone. âUh⌠Iâm okay? I was telling the drone here what I can and canât eat.â The drone next to you nodded, giving a small salute. âYes! We wanted to be sure there was no risk for any allergies, and if we needed to get anything for specific dietary needs.â It was kind of sweet, and considerate, you thought. You wouldnât have figured the bee hybrids to be more concerned over your needs than your own fucking job and coworkers. But hey, you were thankful. You werenât gonna complain. Hell, you were half tempted to thank them on your hands and knees. They could have killed you, or left you to rot, completely lost in the tunnels. Instead, the hive actively wanted to help you so far.Â
The Kings, and even the few drones you have met so far all seemed nice. They were all gentle with you, and were making sure you were comfortable before doing anything with you or your leg. The other drones didnât make you as nervous now, after talking with one of them. From what you could gather, most were genuinely just curious, which was a relief for you.Â
Both the Kings looked between you and the drone. âWe also have a list of any allergies to be aware of, and the others are currently on their way back with some medical supplies.â The drone piped up again, twirling the pen between his fingers. You nodded. âYeah. Thank you by the way. I appreciate you all taking the time for that.â You said, making sure to look at all three of them. It wasnât much, but you at least wanted to vocalize it. The drone smiled brightly, and his wings cutely buzzed behind him. âItâs no problem at all!â Ingo and Emmet nodded at you as well. âYes, it is no trouble! Thank you for being patient with us as we figure things out. We have not had a human in the hive in over a decade, so forgive us if it takes some time to figure things out.â Ingo said, thanking you instead. You had to hold yourself back from getting a bit flustered. Your emotions were definitely a bit high strung tonight. You felt like your nerves were all over the place. Still, it was a bit nice to be treated so kindly like this. When was the last time anyone had shown you such concern and kindness? Emmet then brought up his hand, and caught your attention. âI was thinking. Would you like a room, instead of the infirmary?â he asked, with a cute tilt of his head. Your eyes widened at the question, and you shook your head, hands waving. âOh, no, you donât have to do that! Iâm just thankful for the help as it is, no need to go out of your way for me! Itâs okay, I-â You tried to finish speaking, only for Ingo to speak up. âNonsense! You are our guest. Let us take care of you!â Emmet nodded, clapping his hands in a familiar fashion to Ingo. âYup! Yup! It is no problem!â The drone next to you all hummed, and put the end of the pen against his mouth. âItâs true, despite how cluttered it looks, we have the space. There are plenty of empty rooms we have ready on standby for guests. Some were made for future projects that never saw fruition. Others are remnants from the subway system, we just have not found a use for them.â He explained. âHonestly, it would be no issue! Please, allow us to treat you.â Ingo finished, and you felt all their eyes on you, almost eager to please. You had to hold back your jaw from dropping. You⌠Were not expecting this kind of treatment. Genuinely, you felt like it wasnât necessary to go above and beyond for you, but you could tell that arguing as such would probably be a losing battle. âOkay. If you insist.â You said, albeit a bit unsure. Ingo clapped his hands one more time, his eyes lighting up. âBravo! We shall have you healed up in no time!â You were expecting Emmet to come pick you up again, though were surprised when Ingo walked over, and held out his arms. âMay I carry you to your destination?â His silver eyes were on you, waiting expectantly. You suddenly felt a bit flustered, but nodded your head. âYou may.â Ingoâs wings buzzed for a moment, almost as if he was excited. Then he reached out, gently scooping you up in his arms, being mindful of your injured leg. You let out a small gasp at the action, and held onto his shoulders as he slightly adjusted you to a more comfortable hold. You happen to look up, and meet his eyes again. The silver, just like Emmet's, almost seemed to glow. It nearly took your breath away. Emmet cleared his throat, causing you both to break eye contact, and turned to the drone. âPlease have some drones make sure room 15c is ready. We shall depart shortly.â The drone nodded, and immediately scurried off. Emmet turned towards you, and gave you another bright smile. âThe room is more or less already set up, for the rare chance we host visitors and merchants from other colonies. It should be ready when we arrive.â You nodded, a bit overwhelmed again. It has been a long day, and it wasnât even ten pm yet. A part of you wondered if this was all just a fever dream of some sort. Perhaps you were really just at home, and having the most realistic dream of your life. It wasnât. You knew it wasnât a dream. The pain, the fear from earlier, that was too real of an experience. Still, a part of you could hardly believe the situation you were currently in. Just how many humans got to say they were carried bridal style by two King Bee Hybrids in one night? âŚGranted, you didnât think most humans could even say they got stuck in a cave thanks to their coworkers, and nearly stumble upon a hybrid hive either. It had been a long day. You were brought out of your thoughts though, when Ingo and Emmet began walking, taking you back into the hallway from before. They continued down the long hallway, occasionally pointing out things of interest to you. Different drones, a few rooms with food, or honeycombs, some rooms with what looked like a lot of paperwork. It was all fascinating to you. As you admired the different rooms you passed, you failed to notice how the twinâs eyes seemed to almost always be on you.
Ingo nearly couldnât believe it. He was holding a human! One that wasnât afraid!
He had seen a few humans before, back when he had been a drone. However, he had never shown himself unless necessary. The few times he had, never really went well.Â
They were either terrified, grossed out, or felt they were above him.Â
It was enough to make him want to keep his distance.Â
He knew not all humans were that way, but the few experiences he had made him want to avoid going out and making contact. Unless it was absolutely necessary, of course.
Which unfortunately, would have had to have been soon, regardless of his feelings.
But then he saw you.Â
You piqued his curiosity.Â
A human who wasnât afraid? Who happily chatted with them and the drones?
Not to mention, you were rather easy on the eyes. You were easily one of the most attractive humans he had ever seen He looked at Emmet from the corner of his eye. His twinâs gaze was on you, even as he explained how a room was set up that they had passed. For a brief moment, Emmetâs eyes met his, before going back to you. You had potential. You could be perfect, just what the hive needed. Now it made a bit more sense. Emmet was kind. He would have helped you regardless, unless you had been hostile back in the tunnels. His younger twin didnât like seeing others suffer. With that broken leg of yours, you definitely needed help, and Emmet wouldnât have ignored that. However, if Emmet had wanted, he could have easily just taken you out of the tunnels, and into the city for help. No doubt you would have been taken care of. But Ingo could see the bigger picture. Emmet wanted to make a great impression on you. He wanted to help. Wanted you to like him, and to like the rest of the hive. And Ingo knew why.
You had potential to be the perfect Queen the hive needed. Ingo felt the gears turning in his head. Emmet was making gamble, putting his eggs in a single basket like this. However, both were getting desperate. They couldnât support the hive forever on their own, and there werenât any other bee hybrid hives in the nearby area to help with this issue. That, and bee hybrids specifically could be terribly territorial. He doubted any would help unless it had major benefits to their own hive. With their own hive being in the state it was in, just reaching out was a risk neither wanted to particularly take. So helping you like this, it was a huge gamble.Â
But ingo looked over at your cute, curious expression, and felt his antennae twitch.
This was a gamble Ingo decided he wanted to take stakes in.Â
One thing was for certain, Ingo and Emmet were very similar in a lot of things. One of those things being both enjoyed a risk. You werenât some trophy to be won, nor would they treat you as such. But you were worth the effort to try and win over, he could feel it. They would not force you to take this role, of course. Everyone would only end up miserable if that were the case. You and the drones did not deserve that. Especially after the last Queenâs rule. But he had to have hope over this. His eyes once again landed over on Emmet. His brother had mentioned wanting to talk to him privately. Ingo had a feeling that it was over you, and the possibilities laid out before them.
He looked forward to that conversation. However, it would have to wait. The room was fast approaching, and they had to get you as comfortable as possible. These next few weeks were going to possibly be rough for you as you healed, so Ingo was eager to get you comfortable as soon as they were able. When they approached the room, Emmet was quick to walk up front and open the door. Ingo gave him a nod, and brought you inside. Your eyes widened as you took in the sight. The room was a little dusty, but still fairly clean. A bed was at the back of the room next to a wall, with a cute little black end table. The bed itself had basic black sheets, with a gold comforter and pillow cases.
âCuteâŚâ you couldnât help but think. The walls were a dark gray, and had a few posters from the old subway, and what looked like motivational posters as well. There was also what looked like a restroom off to the side, something you were very thankful to see. Ingo carried you through the room, and ever so gently laid you down on the bed. It was a lot bigger up close. Was it a king size? Before you could ask, Emmet placed his hands on his waist, and nodded. âExcellent. Is the room to your liking?â He asked, genuinely curious. You looked around the room a little more, before nodding your head with a small smile. âItâs very nice, thank you for letting me use it.â Both twins seemed to almost preen under your thanks, standing a little straighter. âOf course! Weâre glad to be of service.â Ingo then turned to Emmet, and whispered something to him, causing the other twin to nod. Ingo turned back.
âWe will try getting some more furnishing for you when the opportunity arises, we apologize in advance for that.â He told you suddenly, and you felt your eyes widen. Before you could tell them it wasnât necessary, the door was knocked on, and a few drones peeked their heads in. They looked at you all, curious, though especially curious about you. Emmet waved them in, and they shuffled into the room. There were four in total, all wearing the cute little Depot Agent uniform. âWe have the medical supplies!â The smallest one said with a cheer, and the biggest one behind them held up a box full of first aid equipment. âBravo! Excellent!â Ingo praised them, and the bees sat up in pride.Â
Then, everyone turned towards you, and you suddenly felt a bit small at their intense gazed.
You could only hope they knew how to properly help you.
What if, Reader was the queen of a dying hive and two humans (Ingo and Emmet) wander into her hive?
Imagine the smut possibilities
This is actually a very interesting thought! I thought about it a lot and here's what I have to say:

You were a kind and gentle ruler to your hive, being the Survivor out of a hive that wanted to kill you so you couldn't rival their Royal. You didn't like the same for your drones. Your hive was a safe haven for drones that got abandoned or kicked out of their hive.
Because of this, your drones love you and are very protective of you. You know that in the long term, your hive would be in danger; however, you try not to think about it. You try not to let it bother you because as long as you're drones have a place to call home, that's all that matters to you. However, the drones are aware of how much the idea of the future of the hive scares you. They wish they could do something to help, but their bodies were not built to give you suitable young.
On one faithful day, the Drones scrambled around the hive; seems like the Royal had taken another one of their walks alone. That's when they found a human well, the human found them, striking silver eyes, gray hair with sharp sideburns, and a smile on his face; he gazed at you from the vegetation, his eyes widened, having never seen someone of your kind before. His eyes sparkled with curiosity. He wasn't fearful of you like most humans were. In fact, his first words to you were, and you'll never forget, "D-do you come here often?" Your future king was never one for small talk. He was constantly stumbling over his words when he had to be the one to start a conversation. Every time you bring up the fond memory, his face goes red with embarrassmentâthat cute smile of his twitching while his eyebrows furrowed.
you remember how frightened when you were when you saw him, because of your past, you find it very hard to trust new people, but he seemed friendly enough. You don't know why you got along with him so well maybe it's because he was always truthful with his words no matter how blunt which you appreciate from time to time. (Looking back, you wondered why Emmet liked you so much; there were plenty of humans that could suit his fancy; his older brother only huffed and replied, "That's exactly why!" ...you're not sure what he means by that)
You enjoyed Emmet's company meeting in the same spot at least once a week. You wanted the stories about his human life, your eyes lighting up with wonder when he talked about a vehicle humans use that travels super fast, making the ground Rumble in its path as it roars Its mighty call.
Ingo was introduced to you by Emmet, who was slightly sweeter and a little more upbeat, which was contrasted with his scary face.
Over time, these two became your friends, maybe, even more; you did think of them as suitable mates and Royals for your hive, but you could never spring such a responsibility on them, and... they were human.
When you showed up late, they began to worry... Do you seem weaker? Constantly out of breath, occasionally even stumbling. Swallowing down their fear of breaking your trust, they followed you back to your hive. They overheard everything, the Colony has no future, and you are overworking yourself sick!
They care about you so much, that they beg you to please let them help. They'll do anything they can!
The Kings may be human, but the drones respect them as hard workers and members of The Hive.
When the twins realized that your hive was built in an old ruined Grand Station, they flipped their lid in excitement; they even hit the jackpot, finding a rusty old handcart!
Your Depot drones start picking up on the train speak; your dear human Kings have. You find it rather cute.
Nsfw below
You are a bee hybrid Royal so you are naturally taller than your humans(if that's not what you want you can stay small) it is your choice whether you dominate them or they dominate you~.
Emmet is obsessed with the fluffier parts of your bee body. When he's on top of you he loves snuggling into the fluff while he grinds his fat cock inside you.
To your surprise, your mates, despite being human, react to the royal jelly well. There were no physical changes to their body, but they became very receptive to your pheromones. The reactions are almost animalistic since they are still sensitive to these new feelings.
They can sense how much you need them, and they'll either break down in a sobbing mess begging for you to touch or use them. Or demand and overpower you like an animal in a rut.
As you lay there begging for him to breed you. Telling him that he'll make a strong brood. Ingo is slowly turning to the monster fucker dark side, and Emmet is there to accept his brother with open arms.
The twins Wonder if the pollen works on their drones; they wonder if the same pollen will work on you. Spoiler alert, it does. You practically pounce on them, riding/milking them until they're on the verge of passing out. They see white as they shoot blanks, but it's not enough for you.
Meanwhile, the bee smoke makes you so cute, and Dopey, your little Giggles as you rub against them like a kitten, your head delicately bonking against their shoulder begging for attention. Your eyes roll back, drool dripping down your chin, letting out cute little whines because you can't take their big cocks while your mind is clouded with smoke.
You're sweet honey-coated saliva makes them so sensitive to the touch Emmet begs for his majesty to touch him. You purr a 'No' liking the sight before you; Emmet tied to the bed cock aching for your touch, his legs quivering and shaking, trying not to hump the air in Desperation for any kind of relief.

An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Summary:
You are a Wasp Queen reigning in a wasp colony of all-female workers. Having been reigning for several years, you have created a prosperous colony life for your workers. However, you noticed a problem that arises in your colony: every few months, several of your workers fail to do their tasks properly. At first, you thought that it was because you are too strict with them, but it was actually because they are h0rni. This problem had been worrying your mind until you heard about a certain new bee colony that has all-male drones.
Chapter 1.
Imagine you (the reader) being a wasp hybrid instead of a human. You have your own colony nest with your workers (all female, so no drones). Your colony is prosperous under your rule as the sole Queen. However, you noticed that some of your workers become somewhat lethargic at least once every few months. You thought that it was because of your discipline and strict laws within the colony, but it was not! It's because your workers are h0rni for their need to mate with a male! Also, your colony is slowly dying due to no birth given. Oh, how scandalous!! You need to think of a way to maintain your colony so that it would thrive.
One day, while doing your work as the Queen, you heard one of your workers talking about an all-male bee colony that has two Kings ruling it, and they are all drones (all males, so no workers. You now have the solution for your problem and are determined to find a way to solve this problem. You have prepared all that is essential for the trip to the next-door colony and also the proposal. All that is left is for you to go there and talk with their Kings, but you can't. The problem is that wasps and bees are not known for being friendly to each other. So you think of a different way: you try to bring more delectable gifts for the Kings and a letter of proposal. You and some of your workers proudly and confidently marched to the bee colony. Alas, you are stopped at the entrance as those poor and clueless bees run away from you to report straight to their Kings. You, as the Queen, stand tall (albeit nervous) to see the Kings. They don't seem to be pleased by your arrival.
You decide to give them the written proposal to the Kings, hoping they would understand that you and your colony mean no harm. One of them is reading it carefully, while the other keeps his stern eyes on you. After reading your proposal, they seemed to be shocked and shot you a confused look, but you didn't notice their slightly giddy stance. You stayed calm and explained once again that your arrival means no harm to their colony, and present them with the gifts you brought for them. Finally, they let you in and you three are now seated in their meeting rooms, while your workers stood outside the bee colony, being endlessly scrutinized by the drones.
The Kings and you decided to discuss more your proposal, and they asked for a lot of details. They said that your gifts are not to their liking. You told them that you can find more suitable ones for them. They declined and said that they want something else. Something... valuable. They want you as their new Queen. You told them that you can't just leave your colony. How are they going to survive without their Queen? Finally, all three of you came to a win-win solution. You would stay a few nights to mate with them, and also some of your workers would mate with some of their drones. Once you are bearing their eggs, you would give some of your eggs to them and some for your own. The deal is sealed and you (and your workers) did the do.
A few weeks later, you noticed that the contract that you have agreed to have something else written on it, something that you did not notice in your nervous state before.
âThe bearer of the eggs would permanently become the Beeâs Queen should she stays more than a week in our colony unless she wants her workers to be harmed.â
Your head spins and your try to regain your composure, and stomped your way to the Kingsâ room, only to be greeted with their wicked smile. They sauntered their way to you and whispered, âYou should have read the contract more carefully next time, Queen.â.

For the Hive
Hey y'all want some bees?
For @r0-boat 's Bee Submas AU CW: descriptions of violence, bug gore, some suggestive commentary.
I spent so long on this y'all! I started this last month! I am going insane! :D
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It started out so well.
An average, beautiful morning. Sun light beamed through the halls of the subway, arching across broken tiles in glittered shades of sunset. Wax glowed and pulsed with beads of sticky glory that oozed along each woven wall.
A steady thrum of the beating heart of the hive kept strong with dayâs end. The keepers were always busy in such, buzzing about here to there. With the recent haul from the outside, they were run amok with cargo to make and to share alike.
How youâd come here was so long ago now. Then, theyâd watched over you uncomfortably. A bee never left your side at all times, either because of pure curiosity or their own Queenâs dislike of you.
They lost their way for a time without her.Â
It had been so eerily silent. Once humming wings laid dormant across their backs, antenna perked up at attention. Orders never came. So they remained, waiting until someone, anyone said something.
Her corpse had been casually tossed aside with the same disregard as when heâd struck. Swiftly, with not a trace of remorse in his bared grin.
Now stingers lay hidden in wrists, covered carefully with honey matted gloves. Wings never buzzed with aggression nor irritation, lightly flitting about whenever you approached. Sometimes even when you just existed, apparently, as the thrumming beat never really stopped.
So many bees so close would scare away anyone. Just a threat of a sting had most youâd known cowering; one was plenty, a hive was a death wish. Theyâd kill their own for less.
But not for you. For you, they danced. For you, they sang hymns on rumbling wings. For you they gathered and crafted, building higher and more resilient.
For you they held on in droves. For you they clutched with bated breath and fluttering antenna. For you, they pleased in tongue and hand alike.
For their queen, theyâd die.
Calm conversation flowed, words parried between you. The drone was one of the more friendly of them, Jackie. Burgundy hair always parted and ruffled a mess beneath his cap, he remained one of your closer friends.Â
Though friend was a bit too casual of a label for just how many times heâd pinned you against some barren honeycomb deep within the hive, stray hands grasping at hips or digging knuckles deep into your warm, pliant cunt.
He was sweet, but he wasnât one of your Kings. However that didn;t stop him from joining in fucking you raw time and time again.Â
His hands were sticky with the fresh honey he carted in hand. The bucket was heavy with the stuff, so thick it barely moved at all no matter how much he waddled about. You did, however, have to convince him not to swing the bucket by the handle lest he get it absolutely everywhere trying to prove it wouldnât, in fact, get everywhere. Youâd started laughing at his adorably pouty face.
Bright yellow fuzz had been so common in your new life that the instant a puff of it floated in, youâd hardly given it a glance. A simple brief pause in chatter gave you time to flick attention away from the bee for just a moment before returning.Â
Long enough for the droneâs once sulky expression to drop completely.
Jackie had paused with bucket still in hand, halfway up his chest to present the sweet delight to you. His focus was entirely away, towards the open subway gate you had just looked at.
âJackie?â You followed his gaze, yet nothing had changed. To you, it was the same hive as always if not a bit less active for some reason, âIs something wrong?â You glanced back at him, brow raised.
The bee was still staring off into the distance. Honey oozed down the insides of the bucket, turned slightly to you. Reddish strands fluttered over his temples from the dusk breeze. The smile heâd always had lay absent as he stared, those strange near honey comb-like eyes unblinking.
The rasp of his voice would have been lost under the thrum of the hive had you not been listening for him, â.....Wasp.â
Your eyebrows shot up, âWhat-?â
One of his arms, free from not having a bucket to carry, raised between you and the entry, âItsâŚItâs probably nothing,â He swallowed, âI-I-It looks like heâs aloneâŚ.Rogue probably..â The bucket was lowered away from his face as he turned to you, âS-Sometimes we get rogues who take honey from the entry. It-Itâs not a big deal, we always make too much anyways a-a-and itâs not like he;s getting any of the royal honey. They never seem brave enough for thatâŚâ He was trying so very hard. Not a glimmer of nervous sweat on his brow nor break in his voice could say anything was wrong.
The shake of his hands, paired with the irritated quiver of antenna through burgundy locks, said otherwise.
Yet, he didn;t seem to be wrong. The wasp was, for all the surprise he was, keeping to himself. Clawed hands dug easily into the comb closest to the entrance as he scooped out healthy amounts of it into a woven parcel.
Bees were common in your older life. Before the hive theyâd buzz about casually, cleaning out store wares for their sugar and dusting the overgrown flower forest for pollen. Youâd learned to catch their striped shells from a distance to keep yourself out of their reach at the time. Stories of their violence worked wonders for their privacy as well as food supply.
The same couldn;t be said for the wasps.Â
Where the bees were fluffy, almost criminally so, the wasp was hard. Stripes of black and yellow arched across his chest in familiar patterns yet the strokes of such were blurred, a false mimicry of the same puffy nature the bees themselves had. Extra hands lay near his waist like the bees, dark black claws curving wickedly into the wax mantle. Antenna flicked about while dark eyes kept keen attention, the shell of his exoskeleton marring most human features.
Your own hive was already well aware of the intruder. Workers continued to buzz mindlessly from hive to wall, the work never ceased for even a moment despite the rude guest. Antennas remained perked regardless, his peaceful intent likely known yet cautious all the same, the wide berth shared between the two hive born races in mutual ignorance to each other.
âIt-Itâll be fine. He should get what he wants then leave when heâs done.â The hand between you shuffled to your shoulder, clutching a bit tight, âM-My queen please, letâs go inside and leave h-him be..â
He had been meaning to pull you away, to turn your eyes off the wasp to leave him to his plundering. And you meant to follow, already halfway into his arm even as your eyes remained on the hybrid for a moment longer.
A moment had been enough. A moment of time where the hive was busy and work was adamant. A moment a single bee buzzed across the room, his honey soaked coat blocking the hybrid between you.
The second you flitted your gaze, curious of the beeâs sodden nature, he moved.
It had been a nice calm day. The hive was buzzing, the wind was blowing a gentle breeze of sweet sugar and flowersâa fitting end to a busy day of gathering and crafting. A friend at your side, a hive to your command, a pair of bees to lovingly be smothered between in an ocean of fluff and hums.
A peace in the midst of the devastation outside.Â
So why now, of all times, did the devastation have to find you again.
The hoarse, ragged scream ripped the hum from the air. Antenna snapped up in a shining wave as each drone turned away from the walls, away from the overflowing waxen pools of material and honey to stare, awestruck.
Your drone had clutched your arm tight yet neither did he turn away as you stared, horrified.
The drone hung in the air, wings abuzz wildly. He writhed, hands digging and clawing into his own chest. Honeycomb eyes, wide and desperate, stared at the uniform so drenched in sickly sweet honey it stained a permanent golden hue.
Long, narrow black pierced through both. Arched up from behind, uncaring of the dollops of honey drizzling down from the soaked bee. A cold watcher of the hybridâs frantic fluttering and buzzing.
Nothing moved. Nary a twitch of wing nor antenna, all frozen to the horror at their doorstep.
Screams faded, scratching slowed, a pearlescent bead of foul trickled down into the wound.
The stinger ripped back out the way it came, leaving the bee to drop to the broken floor. Once glowing eyes stared blankly, hazed over grey. An uncaring leg kicked it away like the corpse it was.
The darkness of the hybridâs eyes pitched deeper into an uncanny void, lifted away from the body of his making. He stared, unblinking, over his stunned audience. Honey dripped from his claws in a golden ichor fouled by his torment of another and forgotten just as quickly.
No one moved. No one could. In such a sudden display, how could they?
Until his gaze fell to you, and the pressure of the void dropping onto your shoulders ripped a shiver into your bones.Â
All at once, they ignited.Â
It started with a pinch at your shoulder. The hand twisted sharply to hold tighter, claws digging into your skin through the dress sleeve. You turned to him then, startled.
Jackie was a friendly bee. Never once did he even raise a claw to another worker regardless of what had been doneâthe hive-wide moments of clumsiness aside.
Now his face wrenched into sheer rage. Eyes of gold blazed molten metal above your head with focused intent, mandibles clicking against bared teeth. The antenna that would flit about your face wriggled in furious strokes.Â
The bee of your friend was gone, the bee of their stories emerged.
The same frantic jittering flowed throughout the crowded hall. The same bees that floated amongst the comb had turned to face the infraction on their peace. The same workers who churned and curated honey had dropped their tools to watch with burning eyes and fluttering wings.
You had seen your hive angry only once. When the queen had rebelled against your continued stay, threatening violence to maintain her hoard. On that day, their rage was the catalyst to your permanent residence.Â
Now, it was a mark of death.Â
A roar started from the back of the hive; exactly where you werenât certain. Only that it spread quickly from one end to the next, gaining momentum and volume with each bee. A shockwave of violence and clacking claws against tile
Something sickly sweet stung your nose. Piercing fruitiness that bore down in your lungs as if youâd just passed a cart of overripe fruit left to rot.
Starchy and sweet, like bananas.
The hand at your shoulder wrenched off with thread tearing in clean slices. Jackie, sweet patient Jackie, screeched louder than a banshee and twice as wicked, wings flared wide. The thrum erupted into a thunderous buzzing that quivered the walls they resided. And though you recoiled, arms wrapped around your chest, he was completely ignorant to you at all.
What started as a mere crowd turned into a hoard. Bees, coated in green stained dark with honey, rushed out from deeper within the hive. Wings buzzed and antenna flared in a tsunami of yellow and black, their humanity abandoned in the rush for retaliation. They buzzed all around you, swerving at a radius out of reach of you.
The wasp, despite the sheer odds against him, merely stood as he was. Only leaping back a pace to gather distance his jaw cracked open into a hideous screech that bounced back up the entry.
There were stories youâd heard over your travels. Bees were a group, always together and never apart for long. A unanimous front for survival. Wasps, however, had a habit of splitting off onto their own for personal reasons. It was more common to see wasp hybrids out minding their own business doing whatever it was they do alone than it was to see less than a handful of bees at any time. At any given moment, should conflict between them arise, bees always outnumbered the wasp.
But wasps were intelligent. Far too intelligent that humans strayed far away from their territory to keep amicable relations.
One wasp on a suicide mission was wise enough to keep at least a few allies.
The sun was blotted quickly. In the rush of the hive the deeper thrum was missed, or outright ignored. Claws clacked in too many steps, scraping along the rails as they swept inside.
It couldnât be a raid at this point. There were too many faces, too many hands to claim it as just a run for the honey anymore. No, this was much much worse. Sheer maliciousness personified in a swarming hoard.
This was an outright invasion. And you were a one woman audience.
The one moment you had for realization shattered as they collided.
An Agent slammed into the main wasp. Knocked off his feet his wings buzzed wildly to right himself, but with the bee on top it was a futile effort, too much weight for the fragile bits. What rags he wore along his arms was scratched at and ripped into by the Agents' rabid fury.
Another wasp launched into his ribs before he could tear into the hybridâs face, stinger at the ready. He turned his wrath to the new invader and stung him in the shoulder, wings buzzing oppressively.
The wasp knocked down didn;t get the chance to stand as another, even angrier bee dropped on top. He screeched as the Agent drilled his shoe into his chest.Â
Carapice cracked open under the force, spraying that wretched green goo all bug hybrids had inside.
The assault stopped abruptly as another wasp kicked the bee away, only for another worker to ram into it shoulder first. One wasp stepped in, sliding down the banister to be swatted down by a honey drenched shovel and stabbed through with it. A trio of bees, shorter than most, clutched onto a wasp who clung to the torn wings of a drone buzzing so furiously the honey oozing down the walls pressed back against it.
Bone snapped under force. Teeth and mandible bit and tore into flesh, rending it to mangled strips. Carapice cracked open to spew itâs insides all along the walls.
Chaos spun its web in black and yellow as the two hoards clashed, the force of which blasting air through the hive
Something dark swished by the crashing hoards. Yellow stained deep by their shared green blood and black stripes that wrapped around it;s waist and chest. If you hadnât been so focused on the fight, youâd probably miss it amongst the swirling mass of similar colors.
The eyes, blacker than sin, stood out like a tumor upon a bright yellow flower.
Buzzing wings zipped the wasp into your space faster than you could step away. It slammed itâs claws against your chest, knocking you off your feet and to the ground with a cry. You scrambled onto your back.
Their eyes were so much worse up close. Malice permeated the entirety of them at a viscosity that clogged your insides the moment they laid upon you. Wings fluttered at their back, antenna writhing in quick jitters, ecstatic at you laying at their feet.
It hit you then. The ruse, the attack, their incredible numbers despite the minute odds of success.Â
This wasn;t just an invasion, not for food nor blood.
You were what they wanted all along.
Itâs-her?-voice slithered along the thrumming air, âYouâll be a quick one, wonât you~?â Those blackened eyes tilted gleefully and you could feel the dredge of the gaze swiping down your legs, âTheyâve never taken humansszzzz beforeâŚ..not as queenszz that isszz.â She stepped closer, wings spreading wider as she loomed, âYou are tooâŚsszzzoftâŚâ
Your chest heaved, hands scrabbling for purchase on the tile. Getting any distance at all was worthless with every step she made, closing the distance between you, âS-Stay away from us..Get out of this hive! I demand it!â
âOh~? Sssszzo the queen thinksszz she can make demandszz of us? That sszzhe has any rule over the wasspzz?â Her laugh was cruel, a cold drip down your spine, âSszzuch feeble things you are, believing that just a word holdssz any meaning to me..â
You grit your teeth, lashing words on the back of your tongue.
She rushed into your space suddenly. Rigid black claws cracked the tiles as she slammed palms first into the ground, âI will enjoy thisszz..little queen..â Wings thrummed, vibrating your teeth. Black eyes leered with intent.
Mandibles cracked open in a viscous grin,âToday, zzere will be no more hive..â One of too many arms reared back with claws ready, âOnly a dead huszk of wax.â
You gasped, terror snapping into the back of your throat as black eyes flashed wickedly.
The ground shook beneath you in thunderous steps before she was launched off of you in a streak of white.
Without her at your throat you dropped onto your back. Gasps tore into your lungs and the dirt kicked into the air scratched your throat but you were alive. Claws had not torn out your jugular yet.
Another rumble cracked the tiles, someone choking on blood or some other fluid. Again and again the crashes rocked the floor beneath you, as if someone was hitting something extremely hard. That bee was giving quite the fight if you could guess; Hell, for a moment you would have assumed it was-
Your eyes snapped open; you didnât remember closing them.
White. The streak of cloth tackling the wasp off your stomach was white.Â
The workerâs uniforms were always a shade of green.
You shot up. Whatever ache in your bones lay ignored at the back of your mind as you screamed, âEMMET!!â
They had been angry once. Only once, even. Frustration was common to find after theyâd leave the hive for the more dangerous foraging areas and come back to you neck deep in yet another depot wide declaration of loyalty; which was the most eloquent way of putting a multiple bee crowd orgy that lasted the entire time they were away. You had found them to be very delightful after a time but they had a different view, one that usually resulted in some mild bee-on-bee violence. None of it really did any harm from either side, even if the twins commonly revoked their workerâs privilege of seeing you at all. You had never seen them truly, righteously angry aside from the one time when their old queen threatened to kill you. Â
You would never forget the pure rage that crossed their faces in unison; in that moment, had their uniforms not been opposite colors, they would have been the same man.
And now the same furious, teeth grit scowl was back on his face, mandibles split open and splayed wildly to remind that he was just as savage as the murderous wasps themselves.
You could only watch in wide eyed horror as he raised the wasp over his head and slammed her back down into the tile. Over and over, one section of hands gripping tight around a shoulder and leg to keep the momentum. Sheâd started to go quiet, each brutal hit crushing more of her carapice into her body.
A scream clogged the back of your throat, held firm by your tongue locking in there with it.
He did not stop the assault until her body had caved in with a grotesque crunch, bug matter spraying up into his face as a last bitter retaliation. The hands that didn;t just brutally murder another scrubbed it out of his eyes, not bothering one moment to scratch at the sludge staining his precious jacket.
You gasped, the blockage holding your breath breaking at the lack of air, and his eyes snapped to you, burning with intense rage.Â
For just a moment, in the midst of devastation at the hiveâs door, he let the fire die in his eyes to stare at you with pure unbridled terror. His eyes flit rapidly, back and forth over your face and body, searching for something only he could see and shoulders tensing the longer he couldnât find it.
And just as quickly the moment was broken as a heavy crash shattered a nearby wall, the tossed Agent scrambling to tear free of the wax before he was slammed back into by the wasp that chased after. Angry screeches muted the crumbling honeycomb as both tore into one another again.
His teeth bared in a growl, mandibles cracking and wings thrumming wildly. With one last desperate look he tore off into the fray, crashing straight into a group of wasps in the midst of harassing another Agent.
He was going to help?! He was going to get himself killed!
The noose at your neck abruptly loosened, âEMMET!!â You scrambled to your feet, frantically running after, âEMMET PLEASE-â
The twin glared over a shoulder, irate at being interrupted, only to nearly jump out of his carapice at the sight of you quickly approaching the still encroaching swarm. He swerved his back to you, wings beating rapidly, âStay back! Stay there!âÂ
âWha-Emmet!â You stumbled to a stop,âThis is suicide!! You canât-â
âI know! I do not have a choice! Just-â He snapped his gaze away from you back to the combat just feet away as the buzzing roared into a crescendo, all arms spreading wide.
You screamed, âEMMET!â
Carapace clashed as the wasps smashed into his open arms, the force sliding your bee backwards. Both hybrids clawed into the delicate fabric struggling to reach further to you mandibles biting into his hide.
Emmet snarled, wild with rage as he grabbed both inferior bugs by the wing and yanking them off. Smashing their shells together he tossed the broken remains at the rest of the hoard, âI am Emmet, I am one of two Kings in this hive! You have threatened my hive and my queen, for that you will die!â And he blasted forwards in a rush of buzzing, crashing headlong into a group of wasps that crumpled like paper beneath his strength.
The hoard had encroached deeper. More wasps clawed through the upper walls above the surface, streaming in droves. Brittle wax shattered in the assault from drone and wasp alike slamming into it.
Corpses littered the ground at their feet. Shattered carapace and shredded skin splattered new colors across the hive walls, staining the once honey gold palace a disgusting sludge. Not a single hybrid stopped for the dead in favor of tearing into one another all the harder. Those in their Kingâs range lurched out of it just as quick to avoid his brutal strength, whatever wasps foolish enough to stand still quickly snatched and broken like the brittle shells they were to him.
Tears youâd just barely managed to keep down started to burn down your cheeks. It was a massacre; nothing but death would come from this fight and heâd just thrown himself in like a dog to a slaughter! If he wasnât torn to bits just by invading the clashing hoards then heâd be cracked apart by their numbers!
A thrum burst out from within the swarm. Wasps from the first assault began to pull back away, arms curled in with spiked shell outwards, âOutsszzide! Take to the sszkies!â A louder shriek called from within the hoard, bitter rage spitting towards the hive theyâd tried and failed to invade. The swarm funneled back into the staircase, dark colors colliding in a tide that swept out into the open air.
But the hive was already in gear. Furious screeches called back as groups of bees tore out after, enraged at their retreat. The rush spread inwards calling out even more drones from within the hive from their antsy wait.
White streaked out with the hoard, teeth and mandibles bared.
âEMMET!â You tried desperately to stand, âEMMET COME BACK-â A stray drone knocked you onto your ass with his shoulder, unable to glance back in the rush. In the thrumming of wings the upkicking wind kept you on the ground, coughing in the dust.
Hands snatched you up out of the chaos, âMy Queen!â
Had you not already been crying you would have sobbed at his voice, âIngo!â Dirt scratched at your throat and hoarsed your voice, but still you thrashed at the hands under your arms vainly trying to escape his very gentle yet firm grasp, âIngo heâs going to get hurt! You canât let him do this!â
You could feel his wince at your wailing but he persisted, âHeâs already made up his mind! I tried to derail this track of his but he ran off before I could!â His arms gathered you tight into his chest, fluff tickling the back of your neck, âPlease my queen I beg you! Do not follow after him!â
âI canât leave him out there! Theyâll kill him! Theyâre bee killers! Murderers!â You wailed, âTheyâll kill him!âÂ
âPlease desist from this track! He may have chosen this destination but I cannot allow you the same!â Familiar antenna pat against your cheek as the curve of his nose buried into your neck. The hard tips frantically prodded everywhere they could to search for harm done yet finding nothing; he remained stiff at your back regardless, âMy Queen, my sun and sky, please donât leave us like this! Emmet would feel just as ashamed as I if we ever allowed you to be harmed! Surely they would kill you just the same!âÂ
âI-Ingo please..!â Still you writhed, the fight leaving the more pleads he uttered, âI-I canât let him die..! I-I..I canât..!âÂ
âHe did not leave to let you suffer at their hands!â
âI have to try, Ingo! I can-I-I can call him back and-!â
âAnd have the wasps flay you where you stand!?â The claws snipped at your skin as he tensed sharply, âThey have come for war! They do not care for anything else! If they were to take youâŚ!â His own voice cracked, desperation bleeding into his biting words as he clung all the tighter.
For a moment, all you could do was cry. The hive had slowed in itâs assault, a majority of the bees already out in combat. A horrendous buzzing burned the sky outside, reaping havoc among the remains of the city in crashing stone and splintering glass. Wasp and bee alike were likely being tossed in both retaliation and death.
Somewhere, amidst the frenzy, one of your Kings was with them where death was imminent.
You sagged in his hold the longer he sniffled, defeated, â..I canât lose either of youâŚâ
âThen come back into the hive. Stay in the chamber where its safe!â The arms around your waist clutched tighter, âThere are drones on guard for you, I will have the rest of the hive at your beck and call just-!â He staggered back, away from the roaring outside to the safety of the inner sanctum, âPlease! Stay away from them! I beg of you!â
More buzzing, calmer, rumbled into the station. Workers were flooding back into the area to recover from the assault; already a few were gripping shovels and mops to scrub away the remains.
Some winced at the crackle of corpses in their hands, some did not. The mere sight of their own being so lifeless curled in your throat with the bile.
âO-OkayâŚ.â You hiccuped, âOkay-OkayâŚLet me go..Iâll go i-insideâŚâÂ
Ingo clutched you tighter, hands roaming to more comfortable places around your chest and waist. Like a King holding his queen.
âThank youâŚthank you..â He muttered reverently, lacing kisses into your hair.Â
He relented as a drone floated over, âGo, now. Take her back into the chambers and watch over her.â Your king, the gentle of the twins, snatched the bee by the throat before he could land, âAnd if anything, anything, happens to her,â Claws dug into the soft skin, ignoring the frantic scramble of the drone trying to pull his hand away, âI will have your heads. All of you.â
At one point, you would have blustered. Tears would have welled and cries would fill the air as you would plead for their lives; a thing they never properly understood. They were just drones, replaceable in droves if you so wished.
You knew very well how easily numbers could come back. But they werenât just drones, they were your drones, your workers and subjects. They lived and breathed for you.
But now in the stench of death with the golden walls succumbing to the rot, you were just tired. Even your voice was just a croak as you raised a hand to his wrist, âIngoâŚ..â
He resisted, wings buzzing behind you aggravatedly. The drone squirmed as his grip tightened.
Wings thrummed frantically when his King released him in a huff, âVery wellâŚmy Queen..â He nuzzled his mouth back into your hair to nibble his mandibles along your scalp affectionately before he finally set you back onto your feet.Â
You barely responded when shaking hands took hold of your shoulders and hurried you away. Just one chance to look back was given as you rounded a waxen wall, where tiles gave way to the metal tracks of the tunnels.
Ingo remained in the main station, his own back towards you. The black coat was sodden at itâs hem; it had been too short, you remembered vaguely, and could barely scrape past his shins. Thin rips frayed the edges, clean slits carved for his wings and second set of arms. Even his hat glistened lightly with a thin layer of honey, crystalled over time from the lack of recent washing.
You had that one moment to watch him lift off the floor, hands curling into fists, before zipping out of the station into the open air.
Whether the increase of violent thrumming was because of his arrival or because of even more wasps was impossible to know as you were swept back inside to the sanctum.
Walls of wax and stone laced every side. Deep, deep tunnels twisted and turned in dizzying paths that would have driven you insane once upon a time; by this point all the constant winding did was give you a headache. The old tracks ran deep under the city into other stations with their own stairways into the sky, but none of them were where the drone hurried you off to.Â
The sanctum. The innermost part of the hive and your personal bedroom.
And sometimes a gauntlet of drones, but that wasnât on your mind right now.
The subway had collapsed at some point. A cave in from a sinkhole below where running water had corroded a thick deposit of limestone; at least that was all you could assume. It wasnât like you had time to study geology.
With the fragile state of the pit at some point a heavy impact cracked open the ceiling. The bees had sealed it in with layers of wax and crystalline honey which, while protecting the hive, created a brilliant faux stained glass where light streamed in golden. Mass amounts of honey were stored within barrels and waxen stores within the walls, yet the floor remained remarkably honey and debris free; likely from the continuous work of the bees. Tunnels, both man made and burrowed out, branched throughout the upper limits of the cavernous pit, lightly blocked off with simple waxen doors to lessen noise and the possibility of intruders.
Well, if they even made it through one of the stations that is.
The bed was just as soft as you remembered it was. Made of repurposed mattresses and other various soft things it was so large it encompassed an entire section of the sanctum. Pillars of wax and honey crystals formed a mock canopy; a gift from your Kings at one point when the drones had recovered the destroyed remained of a proper canopy bed.Â
Ingo had been so excited at the proposal of sleeping underneath it. Romantic, he called it. Emmet called him old fashioned.
You tried so hard to hold back the tears burning your eyes. You scrubbed at your cheeks to rid the leftover tracks.Â
The drone was still at your side. His hands fiddled, one pair with your dress sleeve the other with each other. Low buzzes and clicks hummed in his throat, odd honey eyes flitting about your body.
He wasnât any drone you knew personally. Either because you hadnât met properly or heâd been a recent hatch. There was little chance he knew any more about you than the surface level of your title.Â
But whatever the details, it didnât matter. He was just as much your drone as everyone else.
The same as all the others whoâd fallen in the invasion; that were still falling in the combat outside.
Exhausted, terrified, and rightfully stressed, you finally fell apart at the first moment of peace.
The poor drone jumped out of his shell when you snatched him by the waist in a vicious bear hug, wailing into his chest. Your strength was nothing in comparison to the hybrids but it was enough to wrench him closer to the bed until he fell to his knees.
Your bees were dead. Dying outside in the unforgiving world at the wicked hand of the wasps. So many had already died and their corpses were being hauled away like they meant nothing; and maybe in the grand scheme of the hive they didnât. Like Emmet said, there will always be more.
But that didnât mean they would be the same.
So you wailed, cried and screamed into this one helpless drone caught in your arms. Bawling your griefs into his chest until his uniform was sodden with your tears.Â
He could so easily pull you off and go about his day. His claws could pry your hands away and his wings could float him out of your reach to leave you to your tears.
But he didnât.
Those clawed hands shakily set upon your shoulders. A hand cupped the back of your head, the other wrapping slowly around your back. The once rigid posture in his back relaxed until his chest was more within your reach, easing into you to hold you properly as he ran his hand through your hair.
You sobbed at the careful care of his touch. It wasnât likely heâd ever seen violence if he was so deep within the hive, yet he still offered what comfort he could give.
All around, the hive thrummed. Bees milled about, carrying pails of honey and other waxen things. Some fluttered through the tunnels into the sanctum, dumping their cargo into the walls or depositing a treasure at the foot of the too large bed. Just as always, as if it was a normal day.
Yet you could never ignore how the thrumming was less of the heartbeat and living breath of your hive. More a distant whisper of what it had been.
Without a view of the sky or even a clock it was near impossible to tell how much time you spent just hiding in the sanctum. The bee refused to be pulled away, not leaving you for a moment even as your tears slowed to a stop and work needed to be resumed. He maneuvered you to lay properly, clicking his mandibles at you when you attempted to even look at whatever the hive brought to your step. Heâd bring the trinkets to you himself, buzzing all the while.
Hours passed by. Lost to a haze of grief and pain, you only lay where you were in the massive bed. You drone remained at your side, muttering lowly about randoms goings on in the hive. Somewhere another tunnel had collapsed from a sinkhole; more bees were dispatched earlier in the morning to ready the new cavern for another honeycomb deposit. One of the many pipes had burst in the chaos, making a massive mess of soggy wax and water that had to be mopped and scraped clean.
You werenât shy to the normal day to day work around the hive. It was comforting, the monotonous repetition of building and crafting. Something to hold onto in the endless days swept up in the company of your hive whilst the Kings tended to the other duties. Said duties now including war.
The bubble of terror threatened to burst in your chest again yet you held firm, no matter how much it ballooned against your ribs.Â
Everywhere the hive thrummed on. The sun continued to pass overhead, uncaring to the worldly devastation below; at some point the light stretched away from the floor towards the opposite wall.Â
You blinked at the golden slats; surely it hadn;t been so long. You couldnât have been laying in your chamber mourning long enough that the day had passed by without you. That was just ridiculous.
Then again, you hadnât seen something as horrifying as this.Â
His head shot up in the middle of combing through your hair. Antenna fluttered as he dropped the brush, the plastic clattering off the bed as he jumped to his feet.
You followed, still scrubbing tear tracks off your face, âW-What is it..?â You grimaced softly at the rasp in your voice; a few coughs did little to clear it.
But he wasnât facing you. Heâd dropped to his knees, crouching low while staring at one of the many entries high above. The lines etched into his face wriggled with his clicking mandibles, antenna flicking about.Â
It wasnât uncommon to see their insectoid responses, but there were a few times where specific motions held meaning. Mostly it happened during the few mass gatherings youâd been involved in; once for your arrival and another for your coronation. Both times the drones had snapped to attention regardless of whatever they were doing to stare up at their new leaders antenna flitting all the while. Afterwards youâd seen them turn to face each other with the same little clicks firing between. A form of conversation; the language had always escaped you given you never had the parts.Â
But given how much time youâd spent, with long late hours wasted just listening to the brothers chatter, youâd gathered enough to understand the most basic.
A rhythmic set of clicks, sharp but almost tinkling like bone wind chimes. Rapid buzzing filtered within the empty air between bouts of clicks.
Your heart lodged in your throat.
The thrum slowed into a low hum. Almost quiet as if the entire hive had retired for the night yet hadn;t quite fallen asleep yet (though the noise never really stopped even then).Â
Yet the sudden silence was more purposeful, almost reverent. The constant sounds of motion and churning honey crawled to a halt, leaving a once thriving hive almost dead silent.
Air rushed through the chamber. The touch of humidity told of a storm brewing on the horizon, a soft heat coursing into the hive.
In the quiet, underneath the remaining clatter of workers hurrying to finish whatever theyâd started, footsteps echoed. Too many to be only one yet too few to be a group.
The doorway pushes in just as the drone rushes away from your side to disappear down a different tunnel.Â
Two bees stand in the opened door, claws sinking into the soft wax to shove it away. Dark and light mix in a twist of limbs and wings, entangled into one another as easily as a ball of yarn was to a mixer. Black cloth had torn in places, stretched thin over his iron grip on the other regardless of similar rips being etched into the similar bleached white coat from his claws. Said bee was hunched forwards in his hold, a pair of arms clutching to his stomach.
One hand still holding onto his twin;s shoulder, Emmet glanced at you beneath his cap, âI-I am Emmet,â His free hand clutched the scratched brim of his hat in a mock salute, âWe are victorious.â
You launched out of bed as you sobbed, âEMMET!â
Both Kings had mere moments to shut the door behind them and limp to the edge of the mattress pile before you were on them. Ingo lurched back wings buzzing wildly to hold steady as you clutched Emmet tight; the grin on his face had been strained, too much teeth and mandible, yet it softened as you shoved his face into your.shoulder where he sighed dreamily. Little buzzes tickled your skin as his mandibles parted to nuzzle kisses along your neck.
âW-What happened!? You i-idiot why d-did you just run out there like th-that!? You could have d-died!â Tears were already dribbling into his shock of hair as you wailed, âH-How did-H-How did-â You couldnât force the words to come. The rock in your throat had tangled in your tongue and refused to loosen even just to make sure they were alright.
So you held on instead. Clutching his torn jacket and burying your face into his neck you sobbed into him. Emmet turned his face closer into you, more bee kisses nibbling at your skin as a free hand wandered from your back to the other shoulder. Another set of hands joined from the opposite side as Ingo stepped closer, arms wrapping around your waist to cradle you both into him as well.Â
They held you until you had nothing to give. When you buckled under the weight Ingo snatched you closer, shoving you further into Emmet who held tighter. Even when he too lost his balance his twin shuffled his weight into his own until he shouldered a greater amount of the both of you. Ingo nestled his kisses into your hair again, edging you slowly into a calmer state.
Throat sore, you sniffed, â...H-How manyâŚâ
Emmet nuzzled closer, âHm?â
âHow many? W-What happened outside? A-Are the wasps..gone?â
He nodded against your neck, âIt was a hard fight. But we won. They will not be back.â The hand on your shoulder tightened, âI will ensure they do not try again.â
âEmmet.â Ingo sighed, â..Unfortunately he is correct. The combat was..difficult.â You could feel his scowl deepen, âThere were many more outside than in. The initial attack was likely a scouting run, to test our strength I assume. Once they learned we were much stronger they took off into the waiting swarm outside. Itâs possible they were hoping to get rid of us to take the subway and expand their territory-â
âIngo.â He paused as you shuffled, nuzzling out of Emmet's shoulder to his chest, âHow many.â
He was quiet. His heart thrummed against your cheek, carapice rising in a slow sigh, â....Enough. IâŚdo not recommend going outside until theâŚmess..is cleaned up.â Claws tangled into your hair as you sagged into him, âI am..so sorry, my Queen..they fought admirably despite the odds, but in the end there were too many lost.â
You wanted to cry again despite not having it in you to. So many had been lost, so many more than in the station. And now they were just going to be swept away and disposed of like they were nothing just like them. You hiccuped softly into his shirt, a few stray tears soaking the torn fabric.
âI do not see what the problem is.â
You flinched into Ingoâs chest, hiding from his twinâs sharp comment. The claws in your hair tightened.
âThey are just drones. They can be replaced.â Emmet nudged closer with his mandibles nipping at your ear, âIf you so desire, my Queen, we can give you so many more. Hundreds, even, if you would like-â
âEmmet,â Ingo nudged his brother in the ribs, knocking his chin off your shoulder, âOur Queen is grieving. Many were lost today, the ones in the station are merely the start.â He leaned in, most likely shoving his face into his brotherâs judging from Emmet suddenly jolting back, âLet her recover before being indecent. This is not the time for repopulation.â
You pulled on his jacket before he could get violent, âI-Ingo..itâs alright..â You leaned off his chest to wipe your eyes, âI kn-Know theyâre just drones,â You could hear Emmet start to comment but held up your hand, âb-but they are my drones. T-They went out there and d-died for us. F-For me.â You sniffed, âI-I was the one they wantedâŚâ
Ingo stiffened sharply, âWhat.â
âT-There was a wasp that ran after me,â You started, âShe must have taken the chance while the rest of them were busy. She tackled me and rambled a-about taking the hive..a-and killing me..â You trailed off, voice getting lower as you finished.
âI am Emmet.â The other King pressed close again, his chest against your back and effectively smushing you back up against his twin, âAnd I destroyed that pest before it even had a chance. Nothing is left. Unless you count the broken carapice under your feet a bug.â He giggled at his last comment, seemingly overjoyed at his violence.
If you hadnât been here for so long you might have been worried about it. Thankfully, you were used to their lack of concern for âlesserâ hybrids.
The tension in Ingoâs shoulders slowly dropped, âSo, it was true. They wanted the hive. And to do so, they wanted toâŚremove you..â A sigh of relief pressed his chest to your cheek as you hummed in agreement, âI am grateful they were unable to do so. Thank you, Emmet,â One of his hands left your waist to lightly pop against his brother, âFor not being distracted long enough to keep her safe.â
You could feel the leer said King directed at his twin, the light snort you made likely making him even more upset.
âI am Emmet and I am insulted.â
âYou should be.â
âI do not get distracted.â
âYou get distracted.â
âI do not!â
âOkay!â Your snickering pulled their attention away from each other, âOkay thatâs enough, donât bully each other.â You shoved lightly against Ingoâs chest, pushing Emmet back as well, âYou both act like kids sometimes.â
âI am Emmet and I am not a larva. I am a King.â He nuzzled into the back of your neck, âYour king. Only yours.â
âMy King,â You agreed, reaching back to ruffle the fluff at the back of his head, âMy Kings.â You added as Ingo nestled himself into your space, pressing a kiss to his fluffy cheek.
As you stepped back from Ingo, intending to give Emmet more affection, he grunted. The fluff pulled away from your hand as he suddenly pulled away and out of your reach. Surprised, you turned around, âEmmet?â
The smile on his face was tight, mandibles baring just slightly. Heâd hunched forwards into himself, still keeping his focus onto you but less intentionally, as if he was distracted. His wings buzzed, jittering, âI-I am Emmet. I am fine. I am fine.â He pressed as his primary hands reached out again, âI-I am-â
Immediately he cringed. The secondary hands around his waist snapped tighter and crumpled his once more or less clean dress shirt to his stomach as his primary hands grabbed his secondâs wrists, a sharp groan gritting between his mandibles as he looked down at himself.
For the first time, you were able to truly see the steadily darkening green spreading across his abdomen.
âEmmet!?â You jumped away from Ingo and grabbed for him, âEmmet what happened!? Youâre hurt!?â You fretted, hands floating and unsure where or if you even should touch him.
âI am Emmet, yes.â He had the gall to laugh at your sharp glare, voice light, âIt is nothing. A graze, at best. One of them tried to stab me. He missed.â Again his snickering turned dark, âHe also missed his arm when I let him go.â
You frowned, âThis doesnât look like a graze Emmet. Itâs soaking through your shirt, for fuckâs sake!â You touched his secondary arm, scowling as his wince, âSee! Youâre lying to me! It is worse isnât it?â
â...Maybe it was more than a graze.â His snarky grin withered into guilt, glancing away from your accusing glare.
Ingo sighed, walking up to his brother, âIt was another wasp. Heâd been attacked by two of them at once, one of them missed. The other did not.â Emmet hissed as Ingo pulled his jacket out to show you the hole punctured through the back, âIt is mostly harmless, my Queen. He will live. The royal jelly gave us immunity from most poisons, or at least a resistance. Had he not, he would have likely ended up worse off.â
âRegardless. It is fixable. I can be healed, my Queen.â Emmet stepped to the side, edging closer to his brother, âIngo wanted to see if you were safe, and you are.â The exasperated look he received said otherwise, âEverything is fine now. The hive is safe and the wasps will not return.â He turned to leave, âIngo-â
He stumbled as you grabbed his arm, âNo.â When he turned to face you, grin twisting adorably into confusion, you shoved at his chest. Immediately he tripped over the end of one of the many mattresses and flopped onto it, âSit down.â You smiled at his surprised wide eyed stare as he lay on his back, âIâm going to help you.â
âM-My Queen, please, we can manage ourselves.â Ingo was turning a beautiful shade of orange despite his protests, hands up to placate you, âYou donât have to concern yourself with this, we can find salves and bandages on our own. You have been through enough stress for today.â
But you gently nudge away the hands he tried to set on your shoulders, âNo, I want to.â You smile, turning to face him, âItâs the least I can do for my big strong Kings who pretty much fought a war for me.â You coo as you rubbed at his hard chest, âSurely youâll let me have that~.â
âO-Of course, M-My Queen!â The blush deepened and even spread all the way up to his antenna as he scrabbled to grab his cap and pull it over his eyes, âW-Whatever you wish for! I-I can go get something to patch him up-â
âNope! You too.â You snatched him by the lapels of his coat and yanked him over onto the bed alongside his brother, âBoth of you are going to sit there and let me fix you up
Emmet had shot into sitting on the bed, his constant grin even bigger with a blush of his own. He giggled as Ingo lay stunned next to him, âOur Queen is quite persistent, I see.â He laughed outright when his brother covered his face with his hands.Â
âAlright off with the shirts and jackets you two. Let me see.â
As both brothers slowly undressedâEmmet was much quicker, tossing his jacket aside whereas Ingo hesitantly unbuttoned his shirtâyou studied them both. Scratches were prevalent around any rip in the cloth, most collecting around their chests for their vitals, though each had some specific injuries.Â
For Ingo a particularly deep scratch raked up his side and disappeared under his secondary arm; though it drew your concern and a light glare from his omission of itâwhich was met with his own sheepish glance awayâit seemed to be mostly superficial. No blood seeped from it, which was likely how youâd missed it and why he never commented. The worst was a crack along his collar bone, where the deeper tissue was exposed as he turned his head. Nothing terrible, but nothing great.
Emmet was your biggest concern. You knew heâd been stabbed but you hadnât seen it for yourself. His greenish blood seeped between his fingers in a steady thick stream, carapice shattered around a literal hole in his side. The cracks split his shell like a fractured window around the wound, splinters sticking out like barbs. It was the single worst injury he had on him, anything else was just light scratches or cracks.
How had he not collapsed immediately was what surprised you more, âEmmet, Iâm not sure if I should be concerned or impressed that you havenât been in complete agony this whole time if it looks like that.â You gestured towards the current hole in his side.
âDo not worry.â He smiled innocently, âIt hurts very much. I might die.â
âIf you had been a drone you would be correct. But given I know from experience, I would say otherwise.â Ingo gestured to himself before addressing you, âIt may seem threatening but I assure you it is not as bad as it looks. I fretted over him myself yet the injury seems to have missed anything important. So no, he will not die.â He gave a sharp look towards his brother, who swiftly ignored it in favor of smiling up at you, âFrom anything other than lack of attention.â
You sighed, relieved, while also shaking your head, âGood. The last thing I want is for you two to get worse. Stay there while I go get something for the both of you.â You turned away from the bed, intent on scrounging some kind of bandages from one of the Depot Agents.
Immediately you were yanked into bed with them, âNope~!â Emmet held you close to his chest as he chirped into your ear, âI havenât had enough of our Queen yet! I was outside for so long, darrling! I fought so hard for you and you have not rewarded me for it yet!â You could feel him pouting even as he kissed behind your ear, âI am Emmet and I want to be with my Queen!â
Ingo balked beside you, âE-Emmet! Donât just pull our queen like that! You could hurt her!â
âHm, but I did not.â His brother was far less concerned, happily wiggling your compliant and giggling self about in his hold, âSee? She is happy with me. She likes being held like this!â He swayed with you, careful of his side, âI am certain she will say the same.âÂ
You would have, the words already on your tongue before Ingo frantically cut in, âStill be careful, she is fragile compared to you!â
âHm, not very fragile.â The smugness in his smile pressed into your cheek before he faced his brother, âDonât you remember, dear brother? She wasnât very fragile at all when you bent her in half to stuff her full of your clutch-â
âEmmet I said not to be vulgar-!â
You finally snorted loud enough to interrupt them both, âAlright, alright!â You laughed, âIâll stay here with you. But just for a while, okay? Iâm serious, I want to help you two first so donât get too comfortable. I donât want you to get infected or something.â
Emmet just hummed smugly, âI am Emmet and I cannot get sick. I am not human.â
You nudged his side gently, âYouâre part human and can most definitely get sick. Or at least get something nasty that wonât let you heal properly because Iâm sure that this,â He audibly grunted as you prodded the injury, âHurts like Hell. You donât want it to get worse or stay bleeding forever.â
Though he pouted, he relented, âOkay. Whatever you wish for, my Queen.â
Ingo was strangely silent while his brother snuggled nice and close to you. Smushed up against him as you were, it took a moment to wriggle enough to turn your head towards the elder king, who sat less than a foot away from you both. The concern was still in his expression, a nice orange blush fading across his cheeks, but his honeycomb eyes were softer, sadder as he watched you be smothered by his twin with his hands curled into fists at his sides.
You wriggled out your arm, reaching for him, âYou too Ingo. I want both of you.â You smiled at the hopeful light in his eyes, âYou both deserve this.â
Ingo was more hesitant than his brother, slowly edging across the bed to merge with the two of you. An arm slipped around your waist, another carefully wrapping around your back with his brotherâs as he included himself in your cuddling. He pressed in close, effectively smushing you between them.
â....Thank you, (Y/N).â Soft fluff nuzzled against your temple, âI would not know what to do with myself if you had been hurt.â
âI am Emmet.â Emmet hummed, pressing fluttering bee kisses to your cheek and jaw, âAnd I would destroy a thousand hives for you. Nothing would stand in my path.â
Antenna trailed down your cheek, âMy Queen. My sun and moon.â Ingo kissed along the tickling path, âMy dearest delight.â
Mandibles nipped at the column of your throat, âSweet thing. Softest rose.â Emmet traced back up your jaw, tongue just barely lapping at the edge of your mouth, âDelicious honeypot~.â
You could only giggle, hands tangling in their fluffy hair, âMy Kings.â You hummed, content to be wrapped up in their arms with wings abuzz gently behind them. Fixing them up could wait a moment.
They were bee hybrids. Horrifying monstrosities of man and insect, of which few knew how such a union occurred. They were feared and revered alike, both for their combined engineering and for their terrifying might. Most would be afraid. Many would stay far away and run.
But you did not. Because they were your bees. And you were their Queen.

Today was just not your day Well, that wasnât entirely true. It really just hasnât been your week, let alone year. But this⌠This certainly topped everything that has happened to you yet. âOf course. Of all things to happen. Of all things!â You grumbled to yourself as you pulled your leg out from a pile of collapsed rubble. You hissed in pain, but managed to pull your leg free. Scooting away from the fallen debris, you shone your flashlight to get a better look at your leg, and winced at what you saw. âWell⌠that isnât good.â You hissed through grit teeth. Your leg was covered in bruises, and was certainly swelling a bit in a few places. You would be surprised if it wasnât broken. No doubt a cave in partially falling on your leg like this caused a break of some sort, even if it looked okay(ish) now. Â
Most of the skin was intact, thankfully. Just a few scrapes on top of some fresh bruises. You at least wouldnât have to worry about bleeding out all alone in a dark cave. Silently, you thanked any gods out there listening for your higher pain tolerance, and the adrenaline running through your veins. You sighed, feeling overwhelmed, and fought back hot tears that threatened to fall. You knew going into the abandoned train tunnels would be a bad idea. Why did you let them convince you? You blew a tuft of hair out from in front of your face. Right. To keep your boss placated. Look how wonderful that turned out. Bastard. You took a moment to get your bearings. Panic was threatening to seep through your chest. âCalm down. Deep breaths. Panicking will get you nowhere,â you told yourself. It was certainly true. You had read plenty of stories about hikers and cavers panicking when they became stuck in caves, only to make things worse by doing so. That being said, you never anticipated getting stuck in a tunnel like this. Not immediately panicking was a lot easier said than done. You were beginning to see why even experienced folk were able to become so easily distraught. Your heart rate was already beginning to spike.Â
You took another deep breath. Hyperventilating would only make things worse. Biting the inside of your cheek, you flashed your light over the fallen rocks, and cursed From the looks of it, the way you came in was completely blocked off. Attempting to dig through this mess might just make things worse. Not to mention, the rocks still looked loose. One wrong move, and more might come caving in on top of you. â...Well, no use going back that way, I suppose.â You mumbled, sounding a lot calmer than what you felt. Oh how you desired to scream. Shuffling a bit, you leered behind you, further into the tunnels. Your flashlight could only light the way so much, but it was better than nothing. Better than wobbling around completely in the dark having a panic attack. At least you could fight your panic attack in some form of light. âPositive. Just think positive.â You mumbled as you hobbled to your feet. You let out a pained yelp as you tried putting pressure on your left foot. Yup. Something was most likely broken. This hurt like hell. Grabbing the nearby wall for support, you placed the flashlight in your jacket pocket, and fished around your other pockets for your phone. Finding the device, you unlocked it, only to let out a shaky sigh. No service. Fucking figures. âThatâs⌠fine. I can just⌠make my way through the tunnels. Iâll either find an exit, or a spot for cell phone service. Itâs okay. I will be okay.â You werenât okay. But at least you could lie to yourself until the shock wore off. Shoving your phone back into your pocket, you took your flashlight back out, and eyed the tunnel ahead of you. âWell⌠no time like the presentâŚâ you spoke, swallowing down the urge to cry. Reluctantly, you began making your way down the tunnel. It was slow, and painful. Your leg may not be as bad as it could have been, but it most certainly was giving you trouble. Several times you thought about stopping, only to shake your head and press on. You had to get out of here as soon as possible. You feared if you took a break, your thoughts would begin to spiral, and you would lose the will to continue. A bit dramatic, but given the circumstances, well⌠You didnât trust your brain at the moment. Not with the fear in the back of your throat. Slowly, you pressed onwards. Thankfully, limping down the subway tunnel surprisingly helped keep your mind a bit busy. The despair really didnât hit you until you came across a fork in the road ahead. In front of you were two tunnels, where the tracks converged into one, leading back the way you came. You stood there, almost dumbfounded. Of course a subway would have diverging tracks. Why wouldnât it? It was designed to take people to many different places across Unova, after all.Â
Still, seeing the fork in the road did little to help you. If anything, it made you this much closer to losing your shit. You really wanted to cry right now. You had been walking for at least two hours. You were tired, scared, and in immense amounts of pain⌠All you wanted was to go home, and crawl in bed. Oh how you wanted to strangle your boss for putting you in this position. Who knows? Maybe if you make it out alive, youâll get the opportunity to do so. The thought of murdering your boss briefly helped against your growing nerves. However, you still had a choice to make. Left, or right? For all you knew, one was just a couple of miles to a dead end. Choosing wrong could potentially keep you here longer, and may even be a death sentence. Your hands shook as you looked between the two tunnels. Even if you werenât injured, this was still a big choice to make. You only had so much energy, and you doubt youâll be able to easily turn around and walk back the way you came if you choose wrong. So right⌠...or left? Time was ticking. You couldnât afford to sit and anxiously fight with yourself. Every moment you wasted was a moment you could be using to get out of here. That thought only made the knot in your stomach worse. Taking a deep breath, you decided. Just as you began to make your way left, you froze. It was faint, but you could have sworn you heard a noise coming from the right. Almost like a muffled tink of some sort. Whatever it was, it had to be far away, judging from the small echo, and how faint it was. But it was a noise. You couldnât move, your heart racing. Thoughts were flying through your head a mile a minute. Down here in the tunnels, one little sound could be anything. From a stray animal, a rock falling from the structure shifting⌠...Or even a person. The thought made you anxious. You would think the idea of finding anyone down here would give you hope. But why would anyone else be down here? Surely not someone up to anything good. Even you werenât supposed to be here, only having been coerced to come by your boss and coworkers. You licked your lips. But if it was a person, they might take pity, and help you. But they could also hurt you and kill you as well. It was a gamble. And for all you knew, it might not even be a person. It could be a wild animal that would attack you for entering its territory. You wouldnât even be able to run or defend yourself, no matter the case. You took a shaky breath. Quite the gamble indeed. You silently weighed in your options. Go left, and head into uncertainty. Or head right, and possibly get help. Your leg ended up helping make the decision for you. It was beginning to really hurt, especially after limping on it for so long. Any chance to receive aid was a chance you were going to have to take. The longer you were stuck here, the higher the chance of your leg becoming permanently damaged. And, yâknow. Possibly dying down here alone from starvation. âPositive thoughts. Think positive thoughts.â You mumbled out through gritted teeth. With that, you forced yourself to move. Despite the circumstances, you tried to remain hopeful. Both for your own health, and peace of mind. You couldnât afford to drown in despair just yet. The walk down the tunnel was slow, and it ate away at your nerves. Your flashlight could only illuminate the path ahead of you so much, and the anxiety of not knowing what youâll find ate away at your mind. Every little noise, or odd looking object in the distance had you on edge. It also didnât help that the further you walked, the more you began to hear noises. Strange noises. You couldnât place what they were. Sometimes it would be tinks far off in the distance. Other times, you would hear what sounded like rumbling in the walls. Your light was no help. Whatever it was making such sounds was still too far away to be seen. Or again, in the walls. These were not comforting thoughts. You couldnât tell if you wanted these sounds to be real, or a figment of your imagination. Going mad wasnât exactly something you wanted to deal with this early on, but⌠...You werenât sure if you wanted to see whatever was making these noises at the end of the tunnel, either. In fact, you could feel yourself beginning to wonder if this was a choice you were going to regret. The thoughts werenât sitting well in your stomach. The further you walked, the more you were fighting the feeling of being watched. It was silly, you know. There was no one in sight. No matter how many times you looked behind you, you never caught sight of anyone. Regardless, you still felt your hair stand on end.
âItâs just my nerves. No one is here but me. Iâm okay.â You tried to assure yourself. Speaking it outloud helped a little bit, at least enough to keep you grounded. You could at least pretend to be okay a little longer if you could fool yourself. However, there was one thing that was beginning to distract you. There was an odd scent in the air. Several odd scents, in fact. The further you had walked, the sweeter the air had become. You knew this scent, but couldnât quite place it. The air was pungent with it, almost humid in a way. Another scent in the air confused you. It was almost waxy. It didnât make any sense to you. This was an abandoned set of train tunnels. Why were there these specifically weird smells? That, and itâs not like someone could grow a lot of flowers down here. Sure, some might survive in the dark, but you couldnât help but doubt it was flowers causing the weird scent. It was heavy. Whatever it was, there had to be a lot of it.
You wanted to have hope, and say it was perhaps a flower shop above ground, but you doubted that would be the case. You were far enough underground that you wouldnât be able to smell a flower shop. Nor would one be this⌠pungent in a specific scent. Swallowing thickly, you carried on. Surely, something this sweet smelling couldnât be bad, right? It didnât ease your rising heart rate, or the feeling of eyes on your back. Then there were the ominous sounds. Not only were there rumbling in the walls, but the further you walked, the more it sounded like it was all around you. You idly wondered if you were going to die today. You already almost died once in these tunnels. Maybe whatever god was out there wanted to finish the job? ...You really needed to get out of here. Walking further in though, you couldnât help but feel the urge to just turn around, and head back the way you had come. Each little noise, the scents, and the feeling of being watched only made you yearn to the other path you could have taken. But it was so far back, and you had already walked for so long. You were getting really tired⌠You stopped for a moment, and leaned against the wall. It had been hours. You were tired, hungry, in immense pain, and your nerves were shot. You wanted to rest. âI canât. I need to keep goingâŚâ you tried to reason with yourself. You canât rest just yet. It isnât safe here. But your body was beginning to feel heavy and sluggish, despite how anxious you were. You imagine a part of it had to do with how much youâve been fighting your leg. Otherwise, youâd be able to easily keep moving. Shaking your head, you gripped the wall to press onward, only to pause when you heard a loud noise up ahead. You donât know what it was, but it was loud. Loud and big enough to shake the tracks on the ground, which vibrated with a hum, before slowing to a stop. Then you heard it. A loud buzzing sound coming from the end of the tunnel. Multiple buzzing sounds. Eyes wide, you could feel yourself shaking again. That⌠was not human. You didnât know what was down there, but all your instincts were screaming to turn around, and hightail it out of here. You didnât belong here, you needed to leave. You began to walk backwards, but before you could turn around- Your back ran into something solid. The blood in your veins ran cold. It took all of your will power to gain the courage to turn around. Slowly, you turned around, and saw you were face to face with a chest. You hadnât been alone. You felt tears prick your eyes. Blood was rushing through your ears.Â
Hands shaking, you tilted the flashlight upwards. After a few beats, the light landed on a smiling face. You let out a shriek, and stumbled backwards, falling in the process. Your flashlight tumbled out of your hands, rolling away towards the tracks. You couldnât think, you couldnât breathe. You were starting to hyperventilate. Oh gods, you were going to die, werenât you? This guy wasnât human. From the quick glance you got, his skin(??) was yellow? And his eyes were black and silver⌠You swore you could still see them watching you, even though the light was no longer on its face. You were shaking, and you could hear his footsteps getting closer. Desperate, you began to crawl backwards, only getting so far with your broken leg. In your panic, you barely registered the footsteps veering off to the side. You only became aware the being hadnât been walking towards you when it picked up your flashlight. Freezing up seemed to be the only thing your body was capable of doing as it got closer. They stopped right in front of you, and must have watched you curiously for a few moments. A beat passed. Neither of you moved. You heard an odd buzzing. You could briefly see the figure lean down, and you flinched, tears threatening to fall. When the being began to lean down, you closed your eyes and shook, fearing what may possibly come. âŚOnly for nothing to happen. After a few moments, you cracked an eye open, and saw the figure holding the flashlight out to you. Staring for a few moments, you shakily reached out, and grabbed it. Were they not going to hurt you? Hesitantly, you shined the flashlight upwards, and fought back a gasp that threatened to leave your lips. âHello! I am Emmet!â he spoke, a smile wide on his face. You were speechless. A hybridâŚ? Yes, he was definitely a hybrid, now that you were getting a good look at him. His face was golden, but he had silver hair, hair that almost looked like fuzz. And then his eyes⌠They were silver, though where the whites would be, almost seemed black. Then you noticed the⌠Antenna? Antennae? And the faint buzzing⌠Looking behind him, you could faintly see what appeared to be bug-like wings. It hit you, just what exactly kind of hybrid you were looking at. âYouâre⌠Youâre a bee hybrid.â You spoke in awe. Insect hybrids were incredibly rare. Not many existed, and most that did, stayed with a hive or a colony. Other independent bug hybrids tended to stick to themselves. You swallowed nervously. He was very pretty. And also very huge. You donât think you had ever seen a hybrid this size before⌠His smile only seemed to widen at your awed expression. âYup! I am a bee hybrid, and you are a human!â He gazed down at you. You seemed at a loss for words. âAre you alright? That leg doesn't look very good.â His words brought you out of your daze. Eyes flickering down, you noticed your leg, and the throbbing pain suddenly became a lot more noticeable. You bit your lip. Walking as much as you had no doubt had put a lot of strain on it. You would be lucky if it didnât have irreparable damage. You remained silent for a moment as the thoughts ran through your head. Thankfully, the hybrid, Emmet, you think was his name, was patient. âI⌠Got injured in a cave in, near the entrance down that way.â You told him, pointing towards the way you came. He glanced where you gestured towards, an odd look on his face. He turned back to you, and you nearly felt your heart jump in your throat from how fast he was. âI see. What was a human doing, entering these abandoned tunnels?â he asked. You felt a bit nervous, but decided to answer anyway. What could you even do? Run? Lie? Even if he seemed nice so far, there wasnât a lot you could do for yourself. â...I came here with my boss and coworkers. They wanted to explore the abandoned tunnels. I didnât want to go but⌠I was coerced into doing so, or deal with my bossâ temper, and risk my job. Said it would be a fun âbondingâ activity for the officeâŚâ you grumbled. You were still very much upset about this. All of this. You were exhausted, tired, and in a lot of pain. Your nerves were shot, you were alone in a tunnel with a stranger, and as far as you knew, he could kill you at any moment. You were tired. At this point, you weren't even sure if you could cry. Emmet looked at you, a calculating look on his face. You felt a spike of anxiety in your chest.Â
If there was a single bee hybrid here, did that meanâŚ
You felt your stomach drop.Â
If a bee hybrid was underground, it wasnât because they were lost or looking for flowers. The tunnels must be their hive. You were trapped in a tunnel leading to a hive. That explained the odd noises, and all the buzzing, you supposed. You felt a bit sick. You had been this close to presumably walking into a live hive. No doubt the drones inside would not take kindly to an intruder. Hell, the Queen would probably have had your head. Maybe it was a blessing this guy found you first, even if you werenât sure of his intentions as of now. He was at least kind enough to listen to how you got here in the first place. Maybe heâd take pity on you and let you live? Or at least he could point you to where you need to go, so you could get crawling. In your internal musings, you were unaware of the internal debate within the hybridâs mind. This was a golden opportunity! If you proved to be a nice fit, you had potential to solve all his hiveâs major problems. If you proved unfit, well⌠Depending on how you act, they could either drop you off outside the city, or easily dispose of you. But he couldnât let this opportunity pass! The hive was in too rough a position not to try. He was sure Ingo would agree, after listening to reason! However, he had to gain your trust. You were very much stressed and afraid. He felt for you, he really did! Being injured, and left alone in an abandoned tunnel with a different species was probably terrifying. He would be stressed if he was in your position too. He briefly looked over your leg, and fought back a wince. Sure, there wasnât a lot of blood, most of the cuts having scabbed over. However, the skin was badly bruised, and there was swelling in a few places. Emmet didnât need to be knowledgeable on humans to know that probably wasnât good. And yet, he could help but admire this small human he had just met. From what he gleaned from your story, youâve already been through a lot! Being betrayed by your boss and their drones? And to try and persevere by making your way through the tunnels, all while in immense pain? All for survival? He wouldnât lie. You appeared to be very strong, mentally and emotionally at least. Even physically too! It was almost as if he couldnât take his eyes off of you. He had been watching you for a while, ever since that fork in the road. His wings buzzed behind him for a moment in awe and excitement. Yes! Those made great qualities for a Queen of a hive! You could be a perfect fit! Plus, you were a verrry cute little human. He had seen plenty of your kind out and about, albeit hidden from their sights. You were way more cute and regal than any of those humans he had seen in the past. Now, he just had to convince you to try and take the role⌠âŚIt wouldnât be easy though, heâd imagine. Humans had their own lives, after all! They seemed to be verrry independent, and liked it that way, not wanting to be involved in other things unless they simply desired to. Not only that, but from what his hive has seen, humans were not huge fans of sudden change. Taking over a hive as a Queen no doubt would count as one of those sudden changes. So he had to make it tempting. But where to begin? His eyes landed back on your leg, and his antenna twitched. âWould you like help with that?â He asked you suddenly, and you nearly jumped at his sudden eagerness, hovering over your leg. âHuh?â You dumbly asked, not expecting the question. Help? What did he mean by help? âYour leg. You have put a lot of strain on it. It doesnât look good. Let me help you.â You could only stare at him, trying to process what he said. âYou can stay at the hive until you are well again!â He assured you, his smile seemingly growing excited. You couldnât help but look at him a bit confused. âBut⌠Wonât the uh, the Queen not like that?â You ask, slightly fearing for your life. If you ended up stuck in the hive with an angry Queen Bee Hybrid, you doubted youâd make it out alive. Especially if they were territorial. Emmet shook his head. âOur hive has no Queen.â Ah. His face almost fell as he said so. Well, that was one thing you didnât have to worry about, butâŚ
âWhat about the drones? And the other bees? Wonât they not take kindly to a stranger?â You asked, a bit hesitant. Not having a Queen made things less difficult, but that didnât mean the drones and other bees would just accept you- âTheyâll be no problem at all, I promise.â He spoke, confident as he attempted to assure you. âBut-â âThey will listen to me. I promise they will not hurt you. They will help you recover.â Silence followed his statement as you weighed in your options. Still, you couldnât help but wonder⌠âWhy would they listen to you?â It came out a bit more rude than you had intended, though he didnât seem to mind. In fact, his grin grew incredibly wide. He leaned down towards you, almost like a bow, his wings buzzing behind him. âBecause I am one of its Kings.â
