"Androgyny is a British pop trait that dates back to music hall, with male impersonators like Vesta Tilley, and later pantomime dames like Danny La Rue. Falsetto singing in American rock ’n’ roll had always signified sexual excitement, especially when a song started low and wound itself up... With the falsetto, the song’s impact was heightened, time was suspended, and the boundaries between gender norms softened.
So the Bee Gees of the late ’70s were in a grand tradition. When she was just five years old, a good friend of mine loved the Bee Gees cassettes her dad would play in the car and, with a child’s simplified view of the world, she had assumed the Bee Gees were women. When her dad eventually showed her the cover of Spirits Having Flown – the beards, the hair, the metallic muskiness – she was so shocked she burst into tears."

Hay canciones del LP "From Genesis to Revelation" que me gustan mucho. Cosas como "That´s Me", "Where the Sour Turns to Sweet", y, por supuesto, "The Silent Sun", tema pop psicodĂ©lico/barroco de tono delicado y melancĂłlico. El grupo no tenĂa aĂşn bien definida su personalidad o sonido y puede recordar a las canciones pop de Bee Gees del periodo 1967- 72. Tal vez por eso me gusta tanto.
"The Silent Sun" fue el primer single de Genesis, editado en febrero de 1968. La letra utiliza imágenes del sol, la oscuridad y la naturaleza para crear una atmĂłsfera casi onĂrica, la melodĂa es muy buena y pienso que Gabriel la interpreta muy bien.

Roger Moore was already a well-known face from The Saint and when he teamed with Tony Curtis for The Persuaders, it was a smash hit in Australia. Also popular in Australia, were British comedies. On the Buses was a favourite, starring Reg Varney. I think I had a little boy crush on Julia. Our King of Pop Johnny Farnham is perhaps not very well known outside our borders but he's a local legend. Retired from singing and in poor health these days. The Bee Gees long before Saturday Night Fever.
