Second to last prompt for this year's Drawtober, let's goooo! Also I'll probably post the last one right away tomorrow, since the end date for that one is Halloween, and I'm not sure if I'll have time to proofread and then post it next week. :u

Anyways, the prompt is just ghost! I decided to try doing a new spin on bedsheet ghosts. Essentially they're ghosts of people/animals who eventually deteriorate into rotting sheets that can't do much else but moan, having lost what's left of their memories and sense of self in the process. It's important to help ghosts move on from the mortal realm before this happens!! Or otherwise just forcibly exorcise them. :P

Have you ever wondered why some ghosts are depicted wearing a white cloth over their heads? Well, look no further. These ghosts are a breed called the Bedsheet Ghost. There are several factors that account for why Bedsheet Ghosts wear said cloths. The first reason is tied to the gowns Bedsheet Ghosts wear on their first deathday. These gowns come from a tradition in many European cultures where the deceased are buried in a shroud. 

There are many cases in history in which a living person would dress in a white cloth or shroud to invoke fear (eg: the Hammersmith ghost). However, many lonely ghosts found comfort and solace in seeing these fake “ghosts” and the fear they would garner. This lead to Bedsheet Ghosts dressing up in white sheets, in an attempt to be loved. Similarly, some ghosts dress in sheets simply because they allow them to take physical form. Some people do not posses the ability to see ghosts, and covering themselves with a physical object lets them be perceived. 

Because the origin of Bedsheet Ghosts stems from their loneliness, Bedsheet Ghosts are likely to attach to and haunt people. If you have found yourself being haunted by a Bedsheet Ghost, do not worry. They require a lot of attention and are very clingy, but will make wonderful friends, as their goal is to please humans. Bedsheet Ghosts are the least scary breed of ghost in terms of appearance, so they make great companions for children and pets. Be on the lookout for Bedsheet Ghost impersonators, especially with Halloween approaching.
