does chuck hear prayers?
OH YEAH. CONSTANTLY. i headcanon that one of the very few things chuck can't do is turning off the prayers. they're always there in the back of his mind, keeping him busy, and they're also a reason why he sometimes spaces out. giving angels the ability to turn off the angel radio was his intentional gift, because he knows what it's like to be constantly bombarded with billions upon billions of prayers from all the hundreds of thousands of universes that he watches over. it is also why it was a big, harsh decision for him to stop answering prayers and become more hands-off god to let his creations find their own path – he will remain aware of all the cries for help and comfort. he just had to learn to sit back, no matter how painful it may be.

you hit the nail on the head with renaissance, but she was also quite a fan of 1800s America. she masqueraded as a bounty hunter for a while back then, the chaos was entertaining. she ended up getting a bounty on her own head. she still had the wanted poster today.

their freedom. lmao it’s kinda ironic like. that is what she fought for, for herself, for her brethren, for humanity. yet she doesn’t ever truly have it. she has a lot more freedom now than she ever did in heaven, but she’s still tied by responsibility, and things that she has to do and are expected of her to do; even if most of those expectations come from within herself. some of these are of course self-made, she became the god of death after creating the afterlife, for example, but she couldn’t just ignore those things in good conscious.
I don’t think she’d trade it for anything, but still, she sometimes wishes she could be as free to do as she pleases as humans can. choose a life path, a partner, a career, find a family. she knows those things are not for her.
