Patio pups!
Just finished a hike where the poor boy nearly got eaten alive by biting flies....
He did well for the most part, there were just a couple places where we crossed paths with a jogger and he almost didn't recall, and he broke a stay as I got down a hill away from him.
He is too tuckered out to cue into the Jeep ("SHOTGUN!") but I know as soon as we get home he will want to play again. Stupid babybrain.
Trainers have said it's good to encourage your dogs to get on weird places as puppies to build resilience and body awareness. What they fail to mention is this turns your dog into a monkey....

I have an absolutely incredible dog...
We walked down by the river today and practiced off-leash recall and tested out how Garrus does on game trails, as I won't be able to keep him 100% leashed on portages, and he rocked it. He never strayed more than 10ft from me, recalled so well, and when we went thru the thick undergrowth, kept popping back to see where I was.
We ended this morning's games with exposure to the kayak. While I use a canoe in the Boundary Waters, the idea is the same and the kayak's cockpit is large enough for both of us to sit - he will be in the duffer seat with me on our trip so it's stellar practice until I can borrow my friend's canoe.
