Forgotten Land Roleswap Bonus Features and Sneak Peeks to thank everyone for their patience <3
Hello everyone!!! Thank you so much for being here! I know I’ve been dangling the carrot of the next Roleswap comic update for a bit now. Had a lot of things happen irl in addition to transitioning back to my full-time work schedule. Also had to make some decisions about the direction of my life/career (positive, hopefully)!
ANYWAYYYYY all that to say I am working on making the wait as worth it as possible and to have fun again! I’m looking forward to the next couple of scenes~ here’s two teeny little snippets from the next few pages… (but I can’t tell you exactly where hehehe)
BONUS FEATURE TIME! LOOOOOORE.
The picture above was the first time I drew out drafts of some of the bigger concepts of the comic. The new titles of the Beast Pack council, first thoughts on Elfilis’ motivations…
Elfilis was still pretty evil in my very first draft lol. I mean maybe having a pocket-sized deity of chaos deceiving the heroes for their own motivations would've been fun in a different way? I’m glad I took his story in a very different direction- I really like where I ended up with his mimicry abilities and quest to learn who he is. Still chaotic, but also just learning about the world and himself. Nature vs Nurture and all that good stuff.
And Elfilin......... Okay yeah I won't speak much on that but things are different now from my first draft. 0_0 I was still figuring out the details of The Swap and how it could affect the two characters. It wasn't until I sort of... introduced something else to the equation that I really felt I was cooking. >:3
Ahhh, this was the very next thing I drew after the 'Bandee fight scene" doodle comic I drew in the AU's infancy in April 2022- probably like the third thing I drew exploring the idea... You can actually see that previous comic faded in the background here lol, I threw it onto the same canvas as the other one. It's the first image on this post-
Now this is lore! The above comic was the very first place I tried swapping in Meta Knight and making Dedede Player 1.
Fun fact, the very very first Roleswap drawings with Primal Bandee I originally made on April 12, 2022 only swapped Player 2 Bandana Dee and Dedede... (Please see below)
Kirby was still Player 1, everything else was the same including Elfilin. But I went a little wild with the story trope seasoning and now it's been four years HEHEH. This project is in the slow cooker crockpot but I hope some people will still find it delicious at the end of the whole thing.
Before I decided on a full blown comic project, I was exploring the idea of doing little comic snippets and moments of the story, until I decided to really really commit and lock in with a start-to-finish webcomic. I still don't regret that decision despite the time and effort, I've learned so much and am having a blast.
...I'm probably going to make myself cry when I get to the part of Bandee alone in the Forgotten Land. I just really love Bandana Dee and he's so loyal and determined and tenacious and selfless and I just... He was all alone out there for so long trying to find a way home for everyone until... he helped........ -SOB- E-EXXCUSE ME. I just CAN'T BEAR to continue.......

Early Elfilis!! Look at theeeeem haha. So different than now. This was the unfinished start of a scene where Elfilis (who is still a little evil and pissed off in this early draft of the story) meets a Waddle Dee for the first time and experiences their first act of unconditional kindness ever.

Last but not least, this WIP must be from 2023 or 24 because I did a way better job of drawing the Beasts. I think I abandoned this banner thing because I still wasn't comfortable with drawing them in my style, but now...? Maybe I will finish this. Could be epic and cool to do.
