What is a residential college?
Simply put, they are smaller communities of students united by similar interests. At MSU, residential colleges also have faculty offices, academic advisors, classrooms, labs, libraries, and seminars located within your residence hall, giving students unique access to campus resources and creating a learning environment that transcends classroom walls.

We’re so excited that there are so many students interested in becoming a Spartan! The freshman application for fall 2017 opened on August 15, so work on getting your application in soon! We want to be clear that we cannot answer questions asking us to “chance” your admission to Michigan State University. To help you, we are sharing our average incoming profile for our current freshman class. Keep in mind this is the middle 50%, so 25% of incoming students have marks above this range and 25% are below.
GPA: 3.4 - 3.9 ACT (composite): 24-28 Total SAT (Critical Reading and Math): 1040-1210 (old SAT format)
If you have taken the new SAT, use the concordance tables provided by the College Board to see how your new scores might compare. Most importantly, MSU will review your application with a holistic approach meaning we’ll consider other factors like the strength of your schedule before making a decision. What countries do student go to in study abroad programs. Does the courses you take determine where you go? And what is the average length of durations in those countries? Is there an international business major? If so, What are the job opportunities outside campus for a person majoring in that course?
Well students can go all over the world. There are study abroad programs in all seven continents. I suggest you check out studyabroad.isp.msu.edu to search various programs. Study abroad programs can last from a week to a full year depending on what you want to do or where you go. The average is typically around four weeks during the summer. There is not a major in international business but there is a minor. I would check out uas.broad.msu.edu for more info. For that minor you do have to study or intern abroad. For career opportunities I would check out broad.msu.edu/career-services-broad/ .
Hey Spartans! So one of the campus wide events each year is Relay for Life. Many student organizations will come together to raise money for the American Cancer Society. They do this by asking friends and family before the event and then from fundraisers at Relay. These fundraisers can be anything and the more unique the better they are! Some of my favorites are: super smash bros tournaments, water pong to win a live goldfish, ice cream sundaes with all the fixings, DDR, and, of course, the root beer keg stand! This event is from 6pm until 6am the following morning and there is always someone walking laps throughout this time. It's a great way to give back to the community:) -Michael
Happy Earth Day Spartans! Here at MSU we celebrate not only earth day but earth week and even earth month! Sustainability is a part of being "Spartan Green"💚🌎 This is painted on the MSU Rock which is basically the billboard of campus. Different student group will paint the rock almost every night. The only rule with painting the rock is that you can only paint it at night. It can be really fun to camp out with friends all night and I believe that painting the rock should be on every students bucket list! -Michael
