tagging people to (not) get noticed even though i bet they get way too many of these

So Mr LP and I have some different philosophies on clothes for her. He always tends to grab her things that he thinks would be Very Cute on her, while I'm like "fuck yeah, practical shit". Like I'm buying packs of onesies and day jammies while he's rocking up with like 8 dresses he impulse bought (okay it was more like 3 but STILL.)

... He's getting better about this. There's a big difference between an "every day" kind of dress and a special occasions only kind of dress. But I don't know how much of this is just... him not growing up with any sisters his own age, and not experiencing for himself what an imposition clothes can be sometimes. I think the worst thing he's had to deal with is dress shoes and long pants.

Now all of that said, I'm also grateful to him for adding some pizzazz to her wardrobe bc literally, I'm not one to buy dresses. But she likes them. You put her in one and she starts spinning in place watching her skirt do the twirly thing and saying "I'm ballernina!" Like I was literally rolling in dirt wearing my brothers' clothes as a kid and the feeling of tulle literally makes me want to crawl out of my skin. (And velvet. And some types of corduroy. And microfiber. But I digress.) But that's not her. I mean it is and it isn't, she's not precious about anything lol. She loves bugs and dinosaurs and wants to roughhouse but she wants to do it in style. And that's okay.

The point of this, I guess, is that it... feels nice to be able to give my kid some autonomy in what she puts on her body, to a degree. I didn't ever want to be that parent that dragged my kid to school in clothes I had to wrestle onto them while they're melting down over Wrong Texture and Fits Different. I'm enjoying watching her personality come out through her clothing choices, even if it clashes horrifically with my own. She wants sparkly rainbow unicorns 9 days out of 10, and I'm over here trying to live my best beige life for my own sanity lol. But I'm the adult, so I work around it.

And the best part is that she does still like the stuff I pick closer to my own tastes bc I prioritize the feel of the material, so she's got safe stuff to wear when she wants to be cozy instead of pretty, or if she's feeling overstimulated and just needs something not to be loud. It's awesome. She's awesome.
