I think there is a very real danger of AI fanfic witch hunts with how prevalent generative slop and feeding fics to AI have become. I'm concerned especially that newer writers who are still developing a style and learning how to write "well" (well in the technical sense) will be unfairly targeted. Or that people will be afraid to write at all or buy into the "em dash, semicolons, and long words are signs of AI" bullshit.

Wrote a small vent post based on the wayward children after therapy:
The Doors ask only one thing of the children: Be Sure. But how would a child be sure? How would they make that decision? How could they? A child can't make choices. The whole world agrees. To be a child is to lack agency, to not have desires or needs, to be a shape molded by the whims of those autonomous few around you. A child can't hurt or be hurt. A child can't ever be sure. To be sure would to be an adult, someone shaping the world rather than shaped by it. The reason the Doors cut off at 18 is simple, and adult must be sure and a child never is. When asked to be sure for the first time, how could a child be anything but. This is the first time they've ever been asked. It'd be foolish to squander it in answering a negative. If they even think to answer in a negative at all. After all, children aren't used to being asked questions with an answer other than yes. By necessity, if a child is asked a question, the answer is yes. They don't have the agency to answer otherwise. At least the Doors are nice enough to spit the child back out when they change their mind, maybe marked, but still respected. The escape of the doors is to a world more suited to them, yes, but the greatest fantasy of all is having a choice, and having that answer, whatever you believe it to be, respected. Be sure. You be sure. Your parents or your teachers or anyone else "well meaning" who forgets that kids can think can't be sure in your stead. Be sure. And step through to a world that will respect you.
Does anyone have examples of wayward children embroidery? Thinking of making a "Be Sure" embroidery for my partner but have never designed anything significant before and would love examples!
