i think the saddest part about losing someone isn’t the moment they leave.
it’s noticing how they slowly stop existing in your life while still being in it.
the way conversations become shorter.
the way your name starts sounding unfamiliar in their mouth.
the way they stop telling you small things first.
the way you can feel yourself becoming temporary to someone who once made you feel chosen.
and you sit there pretending not to notice it happening.
because admitting it would mean accepting that some people don’t leave all at once they fade. quietly. gently.
like a song becoming harder to hear from another room.
and somehow that kind of goodbye stays with you longer.
