Wyatt knocked on Lennonâs door and waited until she opened it, smiling at her with a couple gifts in hand along with some root beer. âHeya, Lenn.  So um⌠mind if I come in real quick?  I know youâre probably busy, but I wanted to drop these off,â he held up the wrapped presents and grinned.  After being let in, he set the gifts down on the coffee table, offering up a decorative drink and said, âI figured we might wanna just stick to root beer this time? Avoid the holiday hangovers? Heh!â
âHere.  You gotta open this one first,â he said as he handed her the larger of the two gifts. Wyatt sat down on the couch and waited for her to unwrap the present. As soon as the wrapping paper came off, he watched as she dove inside the cardboard box to see some mason jars. They were filled with lavender oil, pine cones, cranberries, and some pine needles.  Each one was wrapped in bows and there were a set of four, all sealed up with metal lids.  Wy smiled and reached in to hold one up saying, âHere, lemme show ya what it is.â
He carefully unscrewed the metal lid, setting the jar on the table.  As he picked it up, he turned over the lid to show a wick wrapped and taped to the top.  Pulling it off carefully, he took out his Swiss army knife and poked a hole in the middle of the lid. Randall then strung the top of the wick through and set the rest into the oil again, screwing the lid back on.  The lavender and pine permeated as he grabbed a lighter and lit the top.  The flame flickered and stayed lit as he smiled and said, âSee?  Theyâre scented oil lamps.  I made them myself.  I wanted to get you something different other than the usual bubble-bath and stuff, so I thought thisâd be a nice change. That, and thisâŚâ
Wyatt grabbed the smaller present and handed it to her saying, âNow this one.â
He waited eagerly, watching her set the jars down and then take the small, square box in hand to untie the bow on top. Â As soon as the white ribbon fell, she could open the purple colored box to see the two wolf necklaces inside. Â
âSee⌠oneâs for you and oneâs for me.  Cuz we used to have those bbff necklaces back in high-school, but then my necklace broke and I didnât know if you still had yours or not, but⌠I wanted to get us new ones so-,â he reached over and turned the white one around and said, âI had the backs engraved.  Yours is this one.â Â
On the back, it read: âWy & Len â Thru Thick & Thinâ
His was the black one and it had the same engraving. Â As soon as sheâd finished admiring them, he took hers out and walked around, unfastening it to lower around her neck. Â Brushing her hair over to the side of her shoulder, he gently did the clasp behind her neck and set it down with a grin. Â âThere. Â Looks perfect, if I do say so myself,â he proudly boasted, sitting back down next to her. Â âCan you do mine,â he asked, turning around so she could put his necklace on him. Â Wyatt leaned back a little so Lennon didnât have to reach as high. Â Tols and smols, after all. Â
As soon as she got it hooked, he grinned and pet his hand over it, admiring the pair of pendants.  âWeâve been through a lot together and⌠I know we can get through whatever might come our way so⌠thick and thin, right?â  Wy looked at her adoringly and leaned over, giving a tender kiss on her cheek.  Lowering his head, he blushed a bit, then turned to give another kiss to her lips. Perhaps he lingered through the kiss a bit longer than intended, but he eased back, clearing his throat a bit as he looked down and said, âYouâre my best friend, Lenny.  Always have been and always will be.â Wy hesitated a moment, trying to get up the courage, then finally managed to just let it out and said, âI love you, Lennon.  I just⌠I hope you know that.â  He lifted his gaze to meet her big, round, doe eyes and let his own hazel eyes smile through as he told his best friend in the whole wide world⌠âMerry Christmas, Bubbles.  Beta besties for life, yeah?â His smile widened as he looked back to his necklace and held the charm between his fingers before tucking it into his shirt to keep it close to his heart.
