Bassist Sandwich Moodboard
Bassist Fight!
BASSIST FIGHT! (mostly old rock/pop/funk)
James Jamerson (numerous Motown songs, The Funk Brothers)
Bootsy Collins (James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic, etc.)
John Entwistle (The Who)
Jack Bruce (Cream, Manfred Mann, a gazillion other things)
Paul McCartney (if I need to answer this, this poll is not for you)
Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads, Tom Tom Club)
Carol Kaye (legendary '60s LA session mission)
Larry Graham (Sly and the Family Stone)
Paul Simonon (The Clash)
Kim Deal (Pixies, The Breeders)
John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin)
I am too treble-oriented for this poll / see results
No "other"! You have to pick between THESE bassists! No, this is not meant to be a comprehensive list, though if you can't find a single person to stan on this list... you need to get better taste. For instance, I am not putting bands that suck on this list just because their bassist is good at the instrument (e.g. Rush). (But again, do not assume I think a band sucks if I left them off!)
Primarily-jazz or classical bassists are kept off for the sake of simplicity (I'm counting Jaco Pastorious as primarily-jazz for the sake of this, also just I know the limitations of this site and its taste)
Yes, there are right and wrong answers to this poll!
This female bassist does not apologize for the bias toward us on this poll, and if you are mad about it, you can eat my entire ass
