DISEGNO VIII: Federico Barocci

We know from textual documentation that pastel was used in the late 15th century, but the earliest surviving pastel drawings are by Federico Barocci and date to the later 16th century. If pastels count as drawings, Barocci is the greatest draftsman between Raphael and Rubens.
