Set in seemingly contemporary times, a man who belongs to a persecuted minority attempts to escape from fascist-run France to America but falls in love with the wife of a dead author whose identity he has assumed.

Very interesting approach, to film a story, that takes place during World War II, in a contemporary setting. It makes the situation feel more immediate, more urgent. Doubly so in the current context of the refugee crisis in Europe.
