The Penthouse Episode 3
YO theyre all fucking mental. They belong in hell. The kids are EVIL.
Yaar korean school de nyane inne kameena honde an?
Can I just say how freaking proud I am of Ronaâs character. Yes, she was immature and cranky in season 1 but she has grown so much.
This girl knows when to be kind and selfless, even though itâs towards the people who have hurt her the most. She was happy in America but she came back to Korea because she felt like she owed Seol A and Logan. Min Hyuk and Jenny were two of her bullies and yet she literally looked past it all in a heart beat and took them in as her friends. Jenny was mad at her when her mom went to jail, but the minute jenny needed a friend to stop her from jumping the roof, Rona was there. She even supports and cheer Jenny on for her singing, showing her performance to her father because she knew her friend wanted him there. Ha Eunbyeol made her life a living hell but she opened her house to her when the girl asked for help. When she found out about the drugs Ms. Jin gave Eunbyeol, she scolded her for it and even told Dr. Han so he can stop her from using it. She ran for help the minute she realised Ha Eunbyeol was kidnapped. Despite everything she went through, Rona listens and knows her friends very well. She knows that Jenny misses her dad, and even tells him to stop drinking and go home to his family. She knows that Seokhoon beats himself up because of his father and she never once blamed Seokhoon or Seokkyung for what their dad did, when Seokkyung once bullied her because she thought Yoon Hee killed her mom. Rona knew about Dr. Han paying off her teacher but she didnât bring it up ever. Rona misses her mom, she has no one to come home to but she still manages to smile in front of Mari, Suryeong and her friends. It literally break my heart to see this girl go home, knowing no one is waiting for her at home.
Idc what all of you say. Yoon Hee gave life to an angel. No wonder Seok Hoon is madly in love with her. No wonder Mari, Suryeong and Logan treats her like sheâs their own child.
This girl has too much love in her heart and itâs rubbing off on the Hera kids. How does she even befriend her bullies without having a grudge? She donât deserve hate ever, she needs to be protected.
Iâve recently caught up on penthouse and iâve been seeing a lot of hate going to Ronaâs character.
While I admit sheâs annoying and I donât like how she raises her voice at her mom, I do believe it is also Yoonheeâs fault. Yoonhee is the kind of mother who would do anything for her daughter, anything no matter the cost. So if you think of it this way, Rona is in a way sorta spoiled by her mother. It doesnât mean she doesnât think about her mom, but she mostly priorities what she wants. Like her mother, once they set their mind on something then they get it no matter the cost. So her personality in S1 made sense.
That and the lack of communication between the two made for even more misunderstandings. They donât talk about their worries, their problems. Yoonhee doesnât tell rona what she had to do for Rona. Rona doesnât tell her mom how much bullying sheâs had to go through in school. Most of their fighting is the cause of their pent up frustrations. So although I understand sheâs annoying, I donât however understand the hate. Please remember the children are only freshman in s1, barely a teenager.
The same people who wished her character to be killed off are the same who justifies and glorify the hera kids. Seok kyungâs character is loved and understood just because she has an abusive father. Nothing justifies what they did to Seol A. It wasnât just teasing or name calling, they ALMOST KILLED HER. If she wasnât smart enough to get herself out of that car, she wouldâve died even earlier than she did. So yes I feel bad for her and her brother for being physically abused, heck I felt bad for eun byeol being mentally abused but criticise them fairly. (And this is coming from someone who watched it for kim young dae)
Everyone praised seok hoon and jenny for doing the bare minimum. What theyâre doing is basic human empathy and respect, the thing they couldnât give to Seol A when she was was still alive. While I am proud of their character development, you simply cannot say that Jenny is better than Rona. Rona has always been a good person. Iâm not even saying this because Iâm a Rona stan, Iâm literally just so confused about the hate sheâs getting as opposed to the support seok kyeong and jenny is getting.
Also remember that seok kyeong still has yet to show character development or even remorse from what she did to Seol A. The way she threatens her brother knowing he cares for her is not something you should look pass. Thatâs called manipulation. Iâm starting to think her father is right for wanting to separate the twins. Seok Kyeong is a bitch and with her brother with her, even though he doesnât partake and sometimes stops her bullying, he lets her get a way with it. He didnât scold her, or make her take responsibility or apologise for the things she did. Even in s2 when he was about to say something when the teacher blamed rona, he stopped when she stopped him. They need to be separated so the two could grow.
And people hating Rona for coming back to korea...Weâre only 4 episodes in guys, Iâm pretty sure she has a reason why she wanted to go back to korea. She was happy in US, she wouldnât have came back without a reason, even if she came back for a stranger who was now dead. Unless youâve had the experience of your mom telling you that theyâve killed a person for you, the sister of the person who took care of you in the US, you really have no right to say how she should feel or do. Yes, her outburst to her mother is justified in S2. I wouldâve asked to be kept in the dark as well, I canât even imagine the guilt I would feel if someone told me someone was killed for my own happiness. How will you ever be able to do that exact thing that caused some one elseâs death. Sheâs literally repenting by coming back and fulfilling seol aâs dream. She didnât have to feel guilty, because technically she did nothing wrong. She didnât know what her mom did. But she also remembered how she was the one who made her mom go to that extent, she admitted that she too was at fault and that to me in development. So please think thoroughly before you hate a character and try to understand why the character did what they did.
