The mean manager's assumingly nicer wife was in charge of the moring shift today. Thought I'd have a productive conversation about my needs. Then realized I am merely a whiny girl who needs to work harder.
Me: hey [Manager], I need to call home and ask for someone to bring me midol. I am in so much pain I can hardly focus on my work and I'm here all night.
Manager: well I have ibuprofen
Me: thanks, but that doesn’t work for me, I need-
Manager: sure it does, I'll get you the ibuprofen in a moment dear
Me: uh. Yeah. Okay.
It took a full 2 hours to work as opposed to midol's 10 minutes. But I had to keep making salads like a good little worker. And then I got shit at me for spending 90% of my energy on the outward "I am not in pain and I love it when customers yell at me for no reason" face instead of that plus making things fast as possible. Yay.
how do I say this to my new boss's boss without sounding as pissed off as I am that she posted a passive aggressive comment about my traffic map design styles this morning. So far all she's done is make vague comments about my maps being 'inconsistent', and then get someone from social media to redo them in a microsoft paint ass style.
"I’d mainly like to avoid any situation where I’m being asked to follow a set of guidelines I can’t see, because that means the only way to learn the rules is by stepping across invisible lines until the edges are mapped out by punishments and rebukes—and invisible lines have a nasty habit of moving around."
- the email I didn't send because i'm still pissed off. But seriously this is straight out of the bad manager's handbook of psychological warfare and I've seen it all before.
she's like 😩"why doesn't this look like the other maps?" I dunno karen, it looks exactly like the 50 other maps I designed before you got here. Clear labels, good typeface, styles so clear you hardly need to read to understand 'em. Best guess is that it doesn't look like the clunkier version social media puts out because I don't make those.
meanwhile the other higher ups keep telling me I'm doing great and people love the maps I make? come on
I need to vent somewhere.
So I got a job as an assistant manager at 'the game store'
The store they put me is a freaking mess. The inventory is all wrong, I keep finding stuff tagged wrong, pieces missing from things that should be sold as a set. To a point that every time I sell a console I open the box to double check before selling it.
The manager is a mess, they keep me there way past my time and keep saying they will add my extra hours on other days so the system doenst flag ( I bet im never seeing a dime from those)
They also stop me to so ryings that need to be done ASAP to do things they think is more important. I keep pointing it out to them and they just ignore me.
Guess what happened today?! Corporate is pissed off because 300 online orders were not completed. Guess who kept telling the manager that would be a problem.
The district manager came to chea us while the manager watched. I told the DM I had posted that out and keep trying to get it done and ask the employees to get it done and kept being stopped and told to prioritize other things.
The DM answer? 'Unlikely story.'
I'm so mad.

Something I will never understand is why managers want to rule with an iron fist, a piss poor attitude, and a lack of care for your employees. My husband works in a mechanic shop. Mind you, his manager is a woman, and I understand in a male dominant field, sometimes you gotta be willing to be a bitch. But forcing a 3rd shifter to come to a meeting in the middle of his sleep time, because you chose the meeting time around what YOU felt like, is just being an ass for no reason. Working your hardest employees to the ground, and giving them a run around about getting promotions promised and pay raises is just absolutely insane to me. Especially when you then turn around and wanna cry about how everyone in the shop doesn’t like you. When you yourself has said you have to take a 4 day vacation at least once a month to “handle the stress”, yet wanna call in your staff on their days off, have them stay late, etc, and make jabs at them for requesting 1 day out of their normal schedule off a few months in advance in 2 separate months. In all honesty, corporate offices should really look into the management of stores with high turnovers. Especially when a lot of the turn overs are people who’ve been there 6+ months to even years. Idk. I just needed to rant for a minute, because I’m so annoyed my husband gets off at 8a, we live 25 minutes away. If he even gets off on time that is. A lot of times he’s here til 10a. Then he has to be back at 4p, the middle of when we are sleeping for work. And when he asked his manager if she could just brief him about it when he came in or when he got off, because it’s the middle of what is basically our night, she basically was like, “I don’t care. It’s mandatory for everyone.” And she wonders why everyone is leaving????
It’s been said a million and one times, but I will echo it, People don’t quit jobs, they quit poor management 🤷♀️
Trying really hard to not quit my job right now.
God, the fantasy of quitting is exciting and alluring.
Oh my god.
I could sleep in. Get up. Workout. Casual breakfast. Hang with mom. Relaxed lunch. Read and watch movies with mom. Not worry about FMLA or appointments.
I also wouldn't have any money, health insurance, or retirement.
Fuck me 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
