if you ever find yourself in a position where you're about to leave a comment on a fic or send an ask to the writer begging them to update a fic, consider instead commenting or sending an ask that shares what you liked about the story and appreciation to the writer for sharing it.

even from just a self-interested standpoint, that is going to get you objectively better results (if your goal is the writer to keep working on the fic) than to sit there and throw peanuts at the writer by begging for updates.
