Johnny has craved a stable life for as long as he can remember. Though he had his wild years, the events following the accident and the Steel Ball Run have left him yearning for simpler things. Settling down with you is one of the best decisions he ever made, and he’ll remind every day how much he cherishes you.
Johnny loves quiet moments with you the most — drinking sweet tea on the porch while the sunsets, stargazing out in the countryside, the times he wakes up before you and feels like the luckiest person in the world for getting to be with you... He’s a hopeless romantic underneath it all.
Having a child brings out the more fun side of Johnny that he’s had trouble with in the past. He’ll talk in silly voices, make up ridiculous stories, make funny faces, and do just about anything to make you and your child(ren) laugh.
When he first found out you were pregnant, he was terrified. He didn’t want to become his father — but with gentle reassurance, Johnny quickly came around to the idea. That fierce streak that exists in him comes out while you’re pregnant. No one is messing with you. Though he’d prefer to do as much as he can for you, he tries not to baby you too much. Johnny hated when people did it to him while he was in his wheelchair, or when people do it now when he’s out with his cane.
Three words: breakfast in bed. With you, it was fun. With his family? It’s his favorite thing in the world. He is not a morning person, but every once and a while he’ll cook a good old fashioned southern breakfast and herd the kid(s) into your shared bedroom to cuddle up and eat while you listen to the radio.
When they’re old enough, Johnny will absolutely teach them how to ride a horse if they’re interested. At the very least, he teaches them how to respect and care for animals of all sorts. Sitting back with you and watching his child ride a horse solo for the first time brings tears to his eyes... just don’t tell him you noticed!
