They’re here!!! Our first babies of the season are a batch of Eastern Gray Squirrels who still have their eyes closed. Eastern Gray Squirrels are typically the first baby animals we get every year and are typically the last babies we see in the late fall. While this baby’s tail is not well-developed yet it will be very fluffy by the time this patient is returned to the wild. Squirrel tails are important—they help keep the squirrel warm, shield it from the rain or wind, keeps the animal cool, helps with balancing when high up in the tree tops, helps guide the squirrel when jumping, and squirrels use their tails as a way to signal information to other squirrels. swvawildlifecenter.org #easterngraysquirrel #squirrel #babysquirrel #cute https://www.instagram.com/p/CaQkIsIs-Vi/?utm_medium=tumblr
