How does Tony react to his kids adopting Bucky though? Is he confused? Happy for them? Kind of jealous they are so good at making Bucky happy? Feeling bad for feeling kind of jealous? Or has he not noticed at all?
Tony doesn’t notice for the longest time because he genuinely assumes his kids like everyone. He assumes they all like each other. Tony can be a little dense about some things (he didn’t realize Rhodey and Tiberius Stone hated each other for 3 years) and his kids always try to put on a good face in front of him. Finally he clues in to the fact that they’ve Basically Adopted Bucky and he’s just like “…ok but…is he worthy though” because he has NO IDEA about Bucky’s big dumb crush and they barely interact with one another. So he starts hovering protectively and his kids are all like “GO AWAY, DAD!!!” but when he does go away they realize they have made A Critical Error. Tony is sulking about his kids not wanting to play with him anymore, Bucky is sulking because he doesn’t seem to ever see Tony anymore, and the kids are all sulking because THEY FORGOT WHY THEY ADOPTED BUCKY IN THE FIRST PLACE, DAMN IT! They wind up having to parent trap the two of them together.Â
