iāve shared about it on here before, but patches had to have more extractions as a result of his tooth resorption. this was the Big One, the one weāve been dreading for going on ten years now, he had a large majority of his teeth removed :( no molars or premolars left now, a canine is gone, and two more will likely need to be removed in the future. my poor son :ā( heās staying overnight but the vet sent photos, video, and called to explain the surgery and report his current condition. heās recovering well, eating wonderfully, and is āa very sweet cat,ā so heās acting like his normal self ā but he will be on pain killers as the surgery was particularly brutal. i feel so bad for my little guy, i never wish this on anyoneās kitty :(

i love stories where arthur and reader are in a relationship, but she lives outside of the gang in her own little cabin, on her own little homestead. a quiet place with chickens, a small garden, stable cozy enough for her horse and arthurās when he comes to visit. the works, ya know.
i love to take the basics of these worlds and imagine a life where he comes by for a couple weeks, bringing her gifts, sketches, and flowers from his travels. he spends his time chopping wood for her, fixing the garden gate, and patching the leaky roof. all while she makes sure he gets fresh home cooked meals, warm baths, a cozy bed to lay his head in, and lovings like itāll be their last ā because they never truly know if it will be. itās the closest thing to domestication he gets, and the closest she gets to a marriage with him.
but inevitably my brain always takes a turn.
never a canon, tb turn, no no that simply doesnāt exist. but a turn where micah catches wind of her, and maybe this is when shit is really starting to hit the fan and everyone is pinning everyone as The Rat. and he manages to find out where she lives and pays her a visit one evening. luring her to open the door as āa friend of arthurās,ā to which he snakes his way inside and proceeds to threaten her that if the law, the bounty hunters, or the pinkertons find them, he will find her. mind already made up that even if she isnāt the reason, sheās at the very least another way to hurt arthur even further.
now the next time arthur comes by, he can tell she is off. this has been eating her alive, stealing her sleep, keeping her on edge ever since the day micah left. he finally gets her to open up about whatās truly wrong, because āit aināt that you broke a dish from your grandparents or lost your motherās necklace while riding to town.ā when she finally spills what has been robbing her of the peace and comfort she once knew, tears fill her eyes while arthurās just see red.
this is where i cannot decide which route arthur will take: will he now camp out indefinitely by the front door, revolver in hand, waiting for micah - or - will he go back to the son of a bitch and beat him within an inch of his life, or straight put him in the ground? the latter feels most obvious.
the next question is: does this wake arthur up and pull him from the failing gang, making him realize itās officially a lost cause. and after saving those he can, goes back to her and lives out the rest of his life with her, protecting her from all the micahs out there and more. or. does he end it. realize this incident hit way too close to home and the only way to truly protect her from his world, is to let her go. distance himself and hope the pain they both experience is worth the outcome. again, being arthur, option two sounds about right (tragic).
i didnāt experience a pet death until i was an adult, so maybe it is easier on children to tell them rufus went to a farm up north and is having a fun time with a bunch of other dogs instead of saying heās dead, gone forever. but as a child i would be mad as a wet hornet thinking some farmer, who i didnāt even know, suddenly had my dog and was getting to play with him plus a ton of other dogs and i couldnāt even go visit.

āi expect youāll betray me in the end, arthur. youāre the type.ā is the most batshit, out of left field thing dutch can say, especially in chapter two. like yeah yeah, foreshadowing for how he ultimately turns on half the gang (namely arthur) and was paranoid from the start. but to say that after raising the man from adolescence and knowing him for twenty plus years, and to continue to depend on him so heavily? arthurās āthat so?ā is so calm and composed, i would have thrown something at his head.
itās entirely possible that arthur morgan drank dr pepper at some point along his travels, and that makes me so happy for him. i choose to believe he at least got to enjoy one of lifeās greatest pleasures (cold dr pepper) before being ripped from this cruel world
sometimes i think about that person years ago who used to tag my posts of canon as āgermy sheplarbā and i hope they know they have altered my brain for the rest of time
