I just finished reading the mystic nine vol. 1 and I absolutely adore how annoying (affectionate) zhang rishan and ba ye are together, ba ye could be in an alarming number of situations but zhang rishan would always be there to tease him lol. They are a duo I didn't appreciate enough while watching the show.

Wu Xie, gonna be frank, maybe you shouldn’t do a spit take when the girl you want to marry brings up a marriage palanquin. And uuuuughhhh knowing that these two aren’t going to work out this feels like hella foreshadowing for their inevitable break up. It’s like a guillotine waiting to come down at any point in this show.
I’m still trying to determine what kind of relationship Ba Ye and Zhang Qishan have in th polycule because they’re not exes in the same way Wu Laogou and Zhang Qishan are but Ba Ye was NOT happy to hear from him.
OOH I LOVED GETTING SOME SNIPPETS ABOUT THE OTHER MEMBERS OF THE NINE GIMME MORE OF THEM. I cant wait for the others to get involved in the plot as well. Also, from what I’ve gathered about Mystic Nine 1, Zhang Qishan and Eryue Hong were the main popular ship there?
Also thank you to @crimsonblue31 who told me that the titles in the intro go through in number order. So Wu Laogou is the Wandering Hero and, if I’m counting the seat numbers correctly in the group shot, Xie Yuchen’s grandad is the Scholar.

I love Qi Tiezui he’s so funny. I kind of love how he was basically treating their trip down the waterway as a borderline slumber party with the way he was trying to talk to the other two and completely missing the skulls in the ceiling.

See maybe you don’t actually want Zhang Qishan to leave the mystic nine after all? And when I said foreshadowing earlier, I kind of meant that it was foreshadowing that Huo Xiangu and Wu Laogou weren’t actually meant for one another. I didn’t think it would foreshadow Zhang Qishan being vanished by the tower and Wu Laogou immediately deciding to go and get him. 😭

Mystic 9 season 2 is so delicious because of Zhang Qishan's harem setting, it's unbelievable. And also! The omegaverse vibes are super strong with this one. The last harem-like hints that I enjoyed this much was in Whispers of Fate, where I literally shipped 90% characters with Tang Li Ci. This time, I am delighted to find out how many characters I can ship Zhang Qishan with, and it's an effortless task because Chen William is THAT full of chemistry with everyone- Lao Ba, Wu Laogou, Xie Jiu, Yin Xinyue.
