The thing about why Hisashi specifically sucks as a dad is that for the most part he was in fact doing the job correctly. His kid was fed and clothed and he went to all her events he could and he spent quality time with her. He wasn’t abusive in any way. And that makes it so hard to get people to understand that he did suck, he just didn’t suck in a way that he could be truly condemned for.
The part where Hisashi sucks is that all of his support was extremely hollow and had no true emotional backing to it. Playing the part of a father like it’s a job but never taking the real time to understand his kid past the surface level—he knew she wasn’t going where Amane wanted, but she was still going in the direction he wanted so that was fine. Coworker ass relationship with his family. These are not people with interiority. These are Roles in your daily life.
At any moment, he could pack up and leave again and find new coworkers.

Izuku and Hinata’s TV habits are cooking shows and active commentary on whatever hot drama is taking up slots but there will be a time when Izuku finds Shouto and Hinata locked into a full scholarly debate with wine and cited sources about the vampire Lestat and whatever the fuck is wrong with his brain
Which of his past injuries would Deku most want to be completely healed of, no physical impediments remaining?
The damage to his hands. It’s probably the most obtrusive injury he has because it impedes his daily life consistently and makes treating the problem difficult, since in order to take his goddamn painkillers he had to unscrew the child safety lid and that’s a hard task to complete when your fingers are swollen and have decided dexterity is for suckers.
All his other injuries he can deal with just fine, but having his hands out of commission for the day because a low pressure front moved in is devastating on a level that cannot be understated.
If Deku is ever contacted by a Quirkiness person seeking to become a hero, what advice would he give/training he would suggest they start focusing on to maximize their chances?
First off: Do you want to be a hero, or do you want to be famous?
Sincere question. Because your journey will not look like his. At all. Frontline spotlight heroics is not a place a quirkless person will get unless they can pull a miracle out of their ass and get the kind of insane backing that allows Izuku to do it--if he wasn't All Might's boy, if he didn't spend that year building up a reputation and forging connections and participating in a battle for the planet where everyone could see, Izuku would not be where he is today with the equipment needed to keep up with everyone else. That's the cold, hard facts of it all. Support gear costs money and a quirkless hero student isn't going to have the pull to get the kind of sponsors they need to purchase and maintain it after graduation unless they work triple time for it.
So do you want to be a hero and help people, or do you want to be famous like him? Because one is achievable. The other is a one in a million fantasy.
If you want to be a hero, then you're going to have to work harder than everyone else to do it. No, this is not hyperbole. You are at a disadvantage. You do not have any special gifts that can compete with the quirks beside you, and everyone else knows it, and they will treat you as weak either out of malice or misplaced concern. So you need to buckle down and work your ass off so that they can't use that gap against you.
Train for the build that naturally suits you. Learn a fighting style that works for you. Do not train to mimic another person, like he did, train for what you specifically can do. Learn first aid. Take the EMT training course. Rescue. Negotiation. Analysis. Investigative skills. These are all tools that are highly valuable in the field that other heroes slack on because they focus more on their physical combat abilities than anything else.
Just because the spotlight is most likely not where you'll end up doesn't mean you're out of the game. The Underground welcomes anyone who can get the job done. Rescue heroics needs people willing to put their lives on the line. Investigative heroes need people willing to spend months chasing leads outside the camera view. Support heroes play pivotal roles to agencies all over the country. If you want to be a hero, you need to become comfortable with the idea being a hero isn't a one size fits all experience.
If you can live with that, and dedicate yourself to the sheer amount of work needed to get to that finish line, then you can do it.
The journey there will be harder than anything you've ever done, but anyone can be a hero as long as they're willing to put forth that effort to help others. That's the entire point of the job. Never forget it.
