#avengers x reader insert

“Miss Y/N.” he nodded at her. That’s when she looked around her and saw that Thor had landed both of them at the top of the Avengers Tower.

She cursed under her breath and clenched her fists. “Fuck.”

“Capsicle, she just swore in front of you.” Y/N heard Stark come in the room and smirked at his joke while Steve rolled his eyes.

“Stark, let me go right now.” she said, walking towards him in calming rage.

“We will, sweetheart. After you do your job and a couple more tests.” he smiled cheekily.

Y/N groaned as she fall back. “You’re not my employer.”

“But I am.” Fury came in with two other people behind him. A woman with red hair and a man with a quiver of arrows in his back.

“Director Fury, I believe I said no.” she said.

“And right now, you will say yes.” he said, standing in front of her and holding out a grey folder with the SHIELD logo in front. “You have no choice but to say yes.”

“No I don’t. You have to let me go.”

The woman spoke up and stared at Y/N with no emotion in her face. “We will let you go as long as you fill in the blanks. What happened in Sarajevo?”

Y/N froze up again.

It came.

The question she avoided since she came back from Eastern Europe.

The question that even she denied herself.

But waiting was no use now. Y/N was trapped.

“I’m not telling you people anything until you tell me what just happened. Who were those men? Why did they tried to kill me?”

Fury shrugged. “I believe, Miss Y/L/N, that you already know the answer. Barton, take her away.”

They put her in a room at the tower. Not a cell.

But Y/N still felt like a prisoner.

With Stark’s FRIDAY in control of the whole building, she can’t do anything. She was tempted to use her abilities, but that would just bring to light the fact that she even has abilities. And then questions would be asked.

Suddenly the door to her room opened and Black Widow came in.

“Finally, another woman on the team.”

“I’m not on anybody’s team.” Y/N told her.

Natasha nodded and sat on the couch in the middle of her room nonchalantly. Like she was visiting an old friend.

“What do you want, Romanoff?” Y/N asked, still standing across the room from her.

She sighed. “I just want to know why you won’t join us. We only need your skills as a soldier and a computer analyst. Nothing more.”

“You’re lying.”

“Yes. I am.”

“Then what do you want from me really?”

She looked at Y/N and stood up. Natasha can see that Y/N has been through a lot. Like her. A lot of things, nightmarish past memories rather, hid behind both their eyes and Natasha can see that.

“Sarajevo.”

“No.”

“Alright. I’ll give you time.” she said, walking towards the door. “Just know that everything has a limit.”

That meeting with Natasha Romanoff gave Y/N something to think about. What if she can help the Avengers? Not as a part of the team. But as a consultant, if she may. But Fury was right. She doesn’t need to figure out why the armed men were after her. Y/N knows. They came back for her.

That means she can use SHIELD as her protection. But that means she’s going to join them.

No she can’t.

She’ll just have to escape from this place and hide. Both from them and from SHIELD.

Y/N couldn’t sleep. She was sitting on the couch, staring at the view from her room. Buildings and skyscrapers covered the sky. Making the stars almost non-existent. She huffed. Typical humans. Always inventing new things to prove that they are even better than gods in the skies. Always making themselves known even if the consequences are dire and not caring about the cost.

Then her thoughts were interrupted as the door to her room opened once more.

“Captain Rogers, what are you doing here?” Y/N turned and asked him.

He smiled and scratched the back of his head, a habit he does when embarrassed. “I asked FRIDAY if you were asleep and she said no. So I uhh…”

She scoffed and shook her head. “So nothing’s private here anymore huh?”

“Well, it’s a protection setting and your room just happened to have maximum security.”

Y/N turned around and face the windows, her back on Steve. “Are you going to convince me to join the Avengers as well? Black Widow tried. She failed.”

“No.” he said, sitting next to her. “I came to ask how you’re doing? I checked with Fury. He said that you’re apartment building has security everywhere trying to find traces of those armed men. We also sent in people to look after First Sergeant Johnston’s family since you were closest with them.”

Y/N let out a long breathe as if she’s been holding it the whole time. That’s one part of the weight in her shoulder out. As long as no one else associated with her is in danger, she’s relieved. Now what is she going to do now?

She looked at Steve and saw him staring at her.

“Why do you always stare at me so much?” she asked, noticing how his ears turned red at the question.

He cleared his throat and sat up. “Well, i just…think you’re very beautiful.”

Y/N stared at him, confused by his words. He was complementing her, sure. But why?

After a moment, Steve cleared his throat again and stood up. “I better go. Get some sleep, Y/N.”
