⟡ neteyam won’t let anyone have an attitude with you. he DOES NOT tolerate a single second of disrespect toward his mate.
☼ fem! na’vi reader, sfw, some vague threats from neteyam to the one disrespecting you, protective neteyam, lots of fluff. neteyam is a sweet boy.
⟡ yes, i did pull inspiration from the way of water when neteyam stands toe to toe with aounung, what about it?
⟡ and i know it’s not “canon compliant” for reader to be tsahik in training and mated to neteyam whose going to be olo’eyktan, but idgaf. it’s my fic, none of this is canon anyways considering the ending of the way of water so… *shrugs*
⟡ m.list
A sharp gasp comes from below, the wounded Na’vi flinching from your gentle hand. “Ow! Watch it,” he hisses, turning his head to snarl at you.
Your ears twitch in irritation, yet you give him an apologetic smile nevertheless. “Of course, Teylan. I am only trying to heal you. I will be more careful.”
He faces forward, mumbling something under his breath. You dip your fingers into medicinal paste made of yalna bark, steadying your hand as you smear it along another cut on Teylan’s back. It’s near his shoulder, not too deep or long, and you hold your breath.
Sighing softly in relief, the tension unfurls from your spine when he makes no move to resist.
The healing chamber inside the Hometree provides enough privacy, but you can hear other Omatikaya bustling about through the curtain of hanging vines.
“Teylan,” you say carefully. “The wound I’m about to treat has cut you deep, it will be quite painful no matter how delicate I am.” You gather more paste on your fingers.
“Don’t speak to me as if I am a child,” he bites. “I am able to withstand the pain. Get on with it.”
You are a child, you think irritably. Which rings true, because he is still very young. Younger than you, at least. Your tail flicks in jerky movements as you press your lips together and gingerly place your fingers to the top of the cut, dragging the paste further down.
Teylan’s tail thrashes wildly, flinging the bowl of paste across the room. He leaps to his feet and whirls around, lip curled. “I told you to be careful! What kind of tsahik in training are you?”
You rise to your feet slowly, hands held up in defense. “Mawey, Teylan. I already told you it would be painful. You do not want to do this.”
He steps closer, ignoring your subtle hint. “You don’t deserve—,”
Suddenly there’s a hand on his arm, cutting him short and wrenching him from your space, shoving him several feet backwards. Teylan trips and stumbles, eyes wide.
“That’s enough,” Neteyam warns through his teeth. “Back off. Now.” He stands tall in front of you like a shield, looking every inch like the warrior he is. You edge closer, peeking out from behind Neteyam’s arm with a smug smile. Your mates tail winds protectively around your waist, pulling you flush against him.
No doubt you could handle this yourself. Neteyam is just so attractive when he’s like this.
Teylan stares, fists clenched at his sides, ears pinned to his skull. “Why should I?” He taunts, looking like he wants to spew more insults. He wisely keeps his mouth shut.
“If you say another word, I will slice your tongue from your skull.” Neteyam stalks forward, dragging you behind him. He lowers his voice, threatening as he says, “Never disrespect my mate again—,” he jabs Teylan in the chest, who instinctively steps back. “You will find yourself thrown from atop an ikran mid flight if you do.”
Teylan’s ears droop. The angry expression he’s trying to maintain splinters, exposing the fear below. He sniffs. Then he nods.
“Get out of my sight, child.”
Teylan bolts through the vines, disappearing within the second. Neteyam’s posture relaxes, tail uncurling from your waist.
“Ma Neteyam,” you say, fond and amused, trailing your fingers down his bicep. “You know I am capable of handling my own problems.”
Neteyam’s ears perk as he spins to face you. Slender fingers and calloused palms cradle your cheeks as if he’s holding something delicate. “Ma sevin,” he pleads. “Understand my position.” You raise your hands, circling your fingers around his wrists. “If you overheard someone disrespecting me, would you not step in? Would it not boil your blood?”
“I would do the same,” you agree with a grin. You bump your foreheads together. “But you are in trouble, ma Neteyam.”
He lets out a wounded little noise, dropping his hands as he straightens. “I am in trouble?” He asks incredulously. “I am a mighty warrior, I cannot be in trouble.”
“Well this mighty warrior is in trouble,” you tease, crossing your arms over your chest. “The future Olo’eyktan cannot threaten young warriors—,” You raise an eyebrow. “Especially not ones who will be under his command.”
“I was defending your honor,” Neteyam says with a pout, tail flicking back and forth.
You wave him off. “Yes, yes, I am aware ma Neteyam.”
You start to clean the paste that’s spattered everywhere, expecting Neteyam to follow, but when you glance over your shoulder he’s sulking in the corner. You roll your eyes, biting back a smile, and spin to face him once more.
“Come here, mighty warrior,” you beckon, curling a finger his way.
Neteyam lights up, saddling up close to you. You tug on one of his braids until he dips down, pressing a sweet kiss to his forehead. He hums low in his chest, smiling.
“Irayo, ma paskalin.”

Closer | Jake Sully
summary: Jake has always been a lovely and caring husband, but one morning he starts acting more affectionate than usual. Even with the village duties, he is not hiding the fact that he wants to be close to you. Your mate's attention reminds you of when your relationship first began, and it fills you with youthful excitement. But you can't help wondering, is there a reason behind his change in attitude?
pairing: Jake Sully x fem!omatikaya!reader
genre: romantic, fluff, cute cozy (?)
warnings: Jake being clingy with his mate, allusion to jealous!Jake, allusion to heat at the end, NO +18 content, description of kisses and emotional intimacy, pet names, reader takes Neytiri's place (no mention of our lovely Palulukan Makto).
a/n: My first Jake one-shot! I have been reading Avatar x reader stuff for a really long time, and at this point, I can tell most of Jake x reader fics are $mu+. There's nothing wrong with enjoying or not reading that kind of content! But as someone who feels a deep connection with these characters, I want to explore more of Jake in other perspectives. So for this os I took the idea of "heat" (which we see in many fanfics or AUs), without any explicit content, since I like to think that in this stage that animals (na'vi) go through, there's also a sentimental and spiritual side that seeks connection.
I'm not a veterinarian, and I'm not sure if Na'vi canonically go through this process, but although there are no explicit details of the heat cycle, all of this came merely from my imagination. I loved writing almost 2k words. Enjoy reading! English is not my first language, please be kind <3.

The morning breeze slipped through the curtains of your family's marui. The beads clattered together when Jake came in and looked at you sitting on the floor, braiding Tuk's hair. He was ready to start training with the boys.
“Good morning, my love.” He spoke with a velvet tone, full of adoration, nothing far from usual.
“Good morning, Ma Jake.”
“Sempul! How does my hair look?” The youngest girl asked, smiling wide.
“It looks like a pile of seaweed.” Lo'ak said, arranging his sleeping mat.
“Hey!” Jake scolded him, pushing his son's shoulder slightly. The boy giggled. “You look gorgeous, baby girl.”
“Does that mean I did a bad job?” you asked, looking at Lo'ak.
“No, mom!” He answered, still giggling, now with a blurred red ink on the cheeks. “I was just teasing little Tuk.”
“Stop being mean with your sister.” Your voice, firm yet soft, made Lo'ak kneel in front of you both.
“I'm sorry Tuk, you look like a princess.”
“That's because I am one.” She stuck out her tongue.
“Let's show the ilus your new hair.” Kiri said, extending her hand when you finished.
“Neteyam, are you ready? Your father doesn't want to return late.”
“Yes, mom.”
You saw your kids head out of the marui when the tallest and biggest figure stopped and turned around. His silhouette covered the sunlight coming from outside when he stood in front of you. Then, Jake kneeled just like Lo'ak did a few moments before, but closer, more intimate. The delicate touch of his fingers on your cheek made you feel ikrans fluttering in your stomach —like when you were younger—. He looked at you lovingly and placed a soft kiss on your nose and mouth.

You’re shy, maybe a little too shy. While everyone your age in the clan enjoys hunting and fighting, you’d rather spend your day sitting by the ocean or picking out flowers, searching for the prettiest elements to turn into accessories for your hair.
No one ever judged you for it though, not when most of the time, you had a large shadow standing behind you that belonged to no one other than the future olo’eyktan — otherwise known as your boyfriend, Ao’nung.
To build a warrior
Pairing: Aonung x Pregnant!Metkayina!Reader
Warnings: mild angst, pregnancy/morning sickness, fluff, pregnancy tropes, established relationship
Summary: You aren't yourself lately. You’re slow, you’re nauseous, and you’re craving things that taste like dirt. Aonung thinks you’re ill—until the truth brings him to his knees.
A/N I haven't edited this so there could be spelling or grammar mistakes!!
For the past three suns, you had been... different.
The midday sun of Pandora was usually a blessing, but these days, it felt like a physical weight pressing against your shoulders. You stood knee-deep in the turquoise shallows, helping the younger children, but your vision kept blurring at the edges.
Aonung noticed it days ago. You moved as if the water itself were made of thick honey. You weren't weak; you were just stubbornly uninterested in moving. He had been watching you for like an hour. He was supposed to be helping his father but his eyes kept drifting back to you. He noticed the unusual pallor of your skin. You looked ghostly.
When you finally stumbled—Aonung didn’t hesitate. He dived from his mount and cut through the water, reaching you before you could even register you were falling.

-everyone keeps stealing Neteyam's mate.
word count: 1k
a/n: just a little something to get the blog going. not the first avatar fic i've written, just the first that i've actually completed. also first time writing on tumblr so sorry if the format isn't good.
Neteyam sighed for the umpteenth time. He dragged a hand over his face with a tired frustration of a man who has lived through the same ridiculousness over and over again.
Once again, someone had stolen his wife.
He had left you sitting in the center of your shared kelku briefly, only to return to empty space and still air.
Without a second thought he marched through the worn pathway that he had followed too often for his liking in a single week. Each step betrayed the frustration that sat heavy on his bones but came to a stop when he reached his destination.
There, on the floor of his family's kelku, sat you and Lo'ak dipping freshly carved beads into dye and laying them out to dry.
hold me
lo'ak x fem human reader
"can I sleep with you tonight?" lo'ak hovers around behind you. his tail swishing against the back of your legs. "lo'ak i think it's better you sleep back at home" you let out, reaching for some shorts and a camisole to wear for the night. the na'vi scooches closer, bumping his elbow into your shoulder gently.
"...don't wanna go home. i don't wanna deal with my mom... and dad" he huffs out, making a funny noise, demanding that you give him attention. you sense his troubled state of mind. "...fine but as long as I don't get in trouble" you sigh out, swatting him away. actually happy that you get some company. it was lonely these days. you'd been struggling to sleep these past few days. the thought of lo'ak makes you feel warm and reassured. so you watch him saunter off to your room as you step out for a moment to change into your clothes.
home is where the heart is — n. sully x fem!reader
you and your lover have always been inseparable, so it is no surprise that neteyam brings you along with him and his family to awa'atlu. you miss the forest dearly, and after a frustrating day amongst the metkayina villagers—you and neteyam get into a rare argument. it doesn't take you long to realize that home would always be where neteyam was.
content: hurt to comfort, a bit of angst but it's okay cus neteyam's always there to save the day <3
arugments between you and neteyam came far and few between and were about as rare as catching lightning in a bottle. he was reasonable and impossibly soft when it came to you, and you both would always resolve your disagreements before they'd even get the chance to go too far.
the two of you have been together for a long time, so it was only natural for you to follow him and his family to awa'atlu. it was hard leaving behind your own loved ones, your friends, and your home of so many years—but neteyam had comforted and supported you through all of it, and that was all you needed.
unfortunately, neteyam was your anchor in this new world you found yourself struggling to fit into. you haven't seen him since he kissed you goodbye this morning at sunrise to go on a day-long hunt with the other men of the village, and it's well past eclipse when he finally does return.
his instincts are on high alert the moment he enters his family's marui and sees his hammock empty. everyone else is sleeping peacefully and blissfully unaware, but the spot where you were supposed to be was void of your usual presence.
he's ducking out of the marui moments later in a panic, tail thrashing behind him frantically and heartbeat racing. why weren't you in bed this late at night? his feet hit the sand as he takes off running, searching all the areas nearby for you—and when neteyam does find you, it's off near the shore curled up against a large rock, knees pulled to your chest
"yawne!" he calls out, and your head whips around at the sound. you wipe the last remnants of your tears and shift to face him. neteyam reaches you quickly and kneels beside you on the ground out of breath, eyes searching your face wildly with concern and confusion
"what are you doing out here, my love? why aren't you sleeping? i thought—"
"i want to go home."
the words come out soft, wobbly and sad in a way that has his heart sinking, and he stills beside you. he seems to be thinking about what to say before carefully speaking up
"i... i know, sweet girl, but—but we can't. you understand this, yes? did something happen while i was gone?" he questions gently, but when neteyam reaches out to hold your face, you move away from his touch
his expression twitches as if you've physically struck him, but you avoid his gaze
"it's your fault i'm even here." you finally whisper.
his face is overcome with devastation in an instant as your words strike him square in a chest, painful in a way that has his breath catching. he shakes his head as if he doesn't want your words to be true before finally finding the strength so speak
"i—"
"neteyam... i love you more than words can ever say, but i want to be alone right now." you murmur, and he nods feverishly
"go lay in the hammock. i will—i will set up another hammock for myself, but i cannot leave you outside alone this late at night. come back, okay? we'll talk about this more tomorrow morning." he pleads in a dejected voice so unlike him, and something in your chest cracks open at the sound
you finally tilt your head towards him, and neteyam can see the dried tears that run down the slope of your cheeks. you nod wordlessly, and you both walk back to the marui in silence.
neteyam stays true to his words, setting up another hammock right beside your own and laying there instead. when he wishes you goodnight queitly, you don't respond, curling in on yourself and trying to fight back the burn behind your eyes. you know you've hurt him when you watch neteyam shift and turn his back towards you.
today had been awful—you were struggling just as much as the rest of the sully family, but you normally had neteyam by your side to guide you through it all. breakfast had consisted of one of the elders snapping at you in front of many others because you'd picked the wrong fruits out. midday, one of the villagers assigned to teach you the basics of weaving had made a comment about the children being more useful then you, and dinner was just stressful—not anything like the peaceful meals you were used to back in the forest.
you wished for neteyam more times than you can count in all those moments. but, with him being been gone the entirety of the day, you had come to the chilling realization that you simply wouldn't survive without him here.
what were you doing? the thought hits you suddenly as you sit up in the hammock an hour later, unable to fall asleep. you look towards neteyam, sleeping alone with the muscles of his back tensed, and your heart lurches suddenly.
you're out of your hammock in an instant, crawling into his and winding your entire body around his. you press a tender kiss onto the seam of his lips, and he stirs slowly
"i'm sorry, i'm so sorry, none of it's your fault, 'teyam. i just had a bad day." you whisper as his lashes flutter open, and you watch his expression soften the moment the weight of your words settles in
"...if you are upset, talk to me. i swear i will always listen, because i'm always here for you." he murmurs, pressing a kiss onto your lips as you finally allow yourself to smile
neteyam doesn't hesitate to shift until your body is positioned on top of his, and he adjusts himself so you're comfortable, face pressed against his chest like you usually slept with his hand settled against the slope of your spine
"i love you so much, yawne. you know this, right?" he whispers
"i know. and... i know that home was never in the forest... it's with you. where ever you may be." you reply, and a small sound of surprise catches in his throat as he clutches you tighter, burying his face into your hair—it was a rare moment of vulnerability from neteyam, but he still manages to let out a breathless laugh
"then we'll be okay, because we'll always have each other."
