28/10/20-Birds, views and mushrooms at home and Lakeside
I took the first picture in this photoset of lots of Starlings in the garden this morning, seeing Goldfinches, Blue Tit, House Sparrows, Collared Doves in the garden too and Pied Wagtail and Jackdaw which I tweeted a picture of outside whilst working I appreciated the simple but pure joy of watching birds feeding in the garden and felt lucky that we have so many species in. On the way out for my Lakeside walk at lunch time I took the second picture in this photoset of a lovely flower on the balcony that caught my eye.
When I went out for my walk, the third picture I took in this photoset on the way to Lakeside was most symbolic of it but I noticed it all over Lakeside just how much more bare the trees in the landscape looked. It was an though someone had flicked the switch from autumn to winter a little whilst a lot of colour still exists in the trees and on the floor where the leaves are spread a lot. This is perhaps much due to the windy and wet weather lately. I also took the fourth picture in this photoset of a puddle with the emerging sunshine in a day that had its showers reflected in it around the estate, the fifth of some yellow autumn leaves still on the tree, sixth of a Blackbird by Lakeside and seventh of a nice view in a hidden bit of path at Lakeside in the woods I found which was very peaceful to spend some time at today.
I came down from the woods and around the western most lake in a little saunter today not wanting to walk too far so I didn’t have to do too many photos with a busy evening including my call to my Dad on a Wednesday, but a greater ground for one of my Wednesday lunch time walks usually as I hadn’t got to the lakes much this week thus far really with an impromptu solo dog walk more around the perimeter with Missy on Monday and a rather wet brief walk yesterday. And as I came out of the woods I was delighted to see a Green Woodpecker fly I don’t normally see them on this side of the park. It then landed and I was delighted to watch it and get the eighth picture in this photoset of it hanging onto a tree. A second amazing chance to photograph this one of my favourite birds this month which I was so thrilled with a brilliant natural moment. I soon took the ninth picture in this photoset of another green (in part) bird, three male and one female Mallards. More green birds then came into my mind when a large flock of finches flew over, some may well have been Goldfinches but possibly instead and very likely with them were Siskins. Something I have seen on New Year’s Day here on my bird year list building walks in years gone by always with Goldfinch charms. So this excited me very much that these birds may be coming in and it was nice seeing a large group of birds flying across the sky something very wintery too. Back to autumn rather and I took the tenth and final picture in this photoset of probably the biggest mushrooms I have seen this year such a great year for me for them this autumn as the sun started to come out a lot as pictures I tweeted tonight on Dans_Pictures showed more. Today was another one where perhaps there was a bit of stress in my day and I could not have got through it without certain moments today really and this walk being immersed in nature was one showing how nature does raise your spirits again.
Wildlife Sightings Summary: One of my favourite birds the Green Woodpecker, Blackbird, House Sparrow, Starling, Collared Dove, Woodpigeon, Jackdaw, Blue Tit, Goldfinch, possibly Siskin, Mallard, Tufted Duck again which was nice, Black-headed Gull and a hawker dragonfly probably Migrant Hawker again by the entrance as I came out which was great.
